Kris
(It's what they call "you.")
Narration upon inspecting the Dreemurr residence's mirror, Chapter 2
Kris Dreemurr (JP: クリス・ドリーマー) is the main protagonist of Deltarune. They are the quiet first hero of the prophecy, who becomes braver in later Chapters. Kris lives together with their mother, Toriel, at the Dreemurr residence in northern Hometown.
While in a Dark World, Kris functions as the party's leader, issuing commands, giving equipment, and managing the team's inventory. During a battle, Kris excels at ACTing, and their ACTs have varying effects. Kris wields a sword to deal damage, and can summon a separate, pink shield when DEFENDing.
For the majority of the game, Kris is controlled by the player, with their choices transferring via Completion FILEs. Kris moves independently during cutscenes, or when they tear the SOUL out of their body.
Profile
Appearance
Kris is a human teenager with amber-colored skin and shoulder-length brown hair. A couple of stray strands of hair stick out at the back of their head, and their ears are often visible from the sides. Kris's bangs are somewhat messy and typically swept to the left, which casts a shadow over their eyes. In certain circumstances, Kris's eyes can glow bright red, such as when one of their eyes flash,[69] or when they descend into a Dark World. Kris's clothes consist of a lime green, long-sleeved shirt with a horizontal yellow stripe, as well as a brown collar and nondescript brown pants and shoes. Their skin and shirt colors are the default colors in Microsoft Paint.[70]

In the Dark World, Kris's skin turns cyan blue, and their hair changes to a dark navy shade. Their normal clothes are also replaced with silver armor, which makes them resemble a knight. This includes a set of pauldrons on their shoulders, a cuirass for their upper torso, two cuffed gloves, and a set of silver boots. In addition to the armor, Kris gains a navy blue armless bodysuit, and a pink cape[66] (also referred to as a mantle[67] or an ascot[71]) that drapes across their right shoulder. The shading for their skin and armor is also used for their cape, which gives the illusion of blue stripes in a few of their sprites, reminiscent of Frisk's shirt from Undertale. Kris's Dark World visage is also similar to Varik from the Brandish series, which Toby Fox has noted as an inspiration for his projects.
From the player's perspective, Kris often has a blank, neutral expression, and they tend to be still in cutscenes. Their stillness is often used for comedic effect, as they can suddenly become very mobile and perform a wide variety of movements; this includes dance moves such as a pirouette or the kozachok. During some non-scripted actions in the overworld, Kris's actions are only conveyed by narration than as an animation.[72]

When Kris is about to, or has ripped out their SOUL, they usually slouch and face towards the floor, causing their hair to conceal their face. Some of Kris's animations are more fluid in this state, and they display occasional bursts of movement such as leaping forward or swinging a hockey stick. Kris is capable of walking normally when their SOUL is removed, though it is significantly slower than their typical stride.[73] In this state, they can become exhausted easily. When devoid of their SOUL for too long, Kris changes to a sick, greenish color, and physically becomes sluggish, frail, and unable to walk. After regaining their SOUL, Kris's skin returns to its usual color, though their physical exhaustion persists.[74]
Personality
Kris is quiet and introverted.[75] Their reticence causes others, such as Susie, to be more observant of Kris's body language to gauge their reactions.[20][76] Despite their quiet disposition, Kris has a proficiency in flirting, though they don't normally use it for romantic purposes.[77][78] Kris tends to speak in a "deadpan, mumbly voice", which causes others to occasionally repeat what they say.[79][80] However, during the events of Deltarune, Noelle notes that Kris's voice sounds unusual, as if it was "on speaker".[45] On the Weird Route, she notes that it is unrecognizably different from Kris's voice.[81]
Kris is not normally energetic. They have a history of not waking up on time, and often sleep through the start of class.[82] Kris also prefers someone else getting them to and from school.[83][84] In the period after Kris's brother, Asriel, left for college, they grew increasingly distant from their few friends.[85] Kris's side of their and Asriel's shared bedroom is also strikingly bare; the pair's game console rests underneath Asriel's bed, Kris's old children's books are stored in Toriel's classroom, and there is nothing on their shelves. It is implied that Kris enjoys reminiscing on their childhood, and that they are unsettled by the thought of growing up.[86]

As the story progresses, Kris begins to disobey some of the player's prompts or choices that they dislike or do not agree with. Kris can do so by relaying the chosen prompt in a different tone,[87] covering their mouth, coughing, or not doing anything at all.[88] They are also shown performing actions independently of the player's control, even while the SOUL is in their body. This includes protecting Susie from King and the Sound of Justice, drinking juice with her in church, or kneeling to comfort Ralsei in the 3rd Sanctuary.
Interests
Contrary to Kris's apparent detachment, they have a variety of interests. Kris has always been mischievous, frequently pulling pranks on Noelle such as hiding under her bed to scare her.[89] Kris also attempted to flush a bath bomb down the toilet at their home at some point, and Toriel is wary that they will try it again.[90] When they were younger, Kris studied the occult with Catti.[91] They appear to still have an interest in the topic, as one of their search queries shown in Queen's Mansion is "how to use magic". Kris also likes video games, having frequently played games with Asriel in their childhood[92] and being good enough that they can seemingly defeat Berdly in competitive games.[93] Kris is shown to have some knowledge of anime and its related subculture, showing a distaste for some words associated with it, such as "tsundere".[94][95][96][97]

Kris has a strong interest in knives, and this has seemingly been the case since they were very young; if Noelle is given the AquaKnife, she refers to it as "nostalgic". [98] Their internet usage also reflects this, as they've searched for "sharpest kitchen knife jello", and unconsciously click on ads for making knives out of spaghetti. During the events of Deltarune, Kris is shown wielding knives in a more serious capacity, such as using one to open Dark Fountains. Kris appears to have a specific attachment to a certain knife, as they seemingly carry it everywhere,[99] and Toriel refers to it as "YOUR knife".[100] It is also heavily implied that Kris still possesses this knife in the Dark World, but has chosen not to use it thus far.[101]

Kris enjoys playing the piano, and they have searched for tutorials to play video game songs.[102] They are proficient, as Toriel and the nurse praise Kris's skills.[103][104] During the events of Deltarune, Kris is typically unable to properly play the piano while under the player's control.[105] Kris still has an interest in playing the piano, as they can play piano renditions of several songs from the Deltarune soundtrack in Noelle's house, and has a negative reaction to the "I'll never play again" prompt in Chapter 4.[106][107] In the Dark Sanctuary, they manage to play a version of Don't Forget on the organ, despite the player's presence.
Kris favors sweet food, with Toriel's butterscotch-cinnamon pie being their favorite.[108] They also thoroughly enjoy chocolates, as they always sneak one unprompted from a box of Heart Candy,[109] and prefer a hot chocolate to have "melted candy bars".[110] Additionally, Choco Diamonds heal Kris significantly more than other party members.[111] While they are separated from the player in Noelle's house, they can be seen mixing together chocolate syrup and milk; they then proceed to gulp this mixture down all at once.
Kris's fascination with knives[112] and enjoyment of chocolate[113] is notably shared with Chara from Undertale, who is also the adoptive child of the Dreemurr family in that continuity. Chara is associated with a specific knife that they cherish, similarly to Kris.
Gender

Much like Frisk and Chara from Undertale, Kris is portrayed as a gender-neutral character. In addition to their unisex name, they are consistently and exclusively referred to with the singular "they" pronoun in the game and all external material. At one point during the UNDERTALE 6th Anniversary stream, co-hosts Reid Young and Dan Moore refer to Kris by saying "He's stuck in a cutscene." Soon afterward, Toby Fox repeats them by saying "They're stuck", seemingly correcting Young and Moore.[65]

Aside from their pronouns, various elements in-game avoid specifically gendering Kris as male or female. When using the "TakeCare" or "TakeCareX" ACT against Virovirokun in Chapter 2, Kris can appear with either a doctor's headband, a nurse's cap, or neither. In Chapter 5's battle against Blue and Yellow, they can cosplay as either Franziska von Karma or Miles Edgeworth from the Ace Attorney franchise; similarly, in the battle against Pink, they can dress in either a traditionally feminine or masculine Japanese school uniform. In most cases, other characters only have one assigned outfit, making Kris distinct in this regard.

Furthermore, the Festival's King and Queen competition allows Kris to be either the "King" or the "Queen". If Noelle rides the Festival's Ferris wheel with Kris, she states that as kids, the two of them were unable to agree on who would be the "King" and who would be the "Queen".[114] A sign in Mancountry describes the location as "A MAN'S WORLD," but it has an addendum noting that "NON-MEN ARE A-OK, TOO.",[115] avoiding categorizing Kris as "a man".
Main story
History
Years prior to the events of Deltarune, Kris was adopted by the Dreemurrs when they were a young child, and grew up in a loving family. However, as the only human in Hometown, Kris often felt like an outsider. Kris once asked their adoptive parents when their "horns were going to grow in". In response, Toriel and Asgore bought a headband with red horns for Kris, who wore it for months.[116] At some point, Kris gained an interest in playing the piano.[103] They frequently played the hospital piano despite it missing "good keys".[117][118]
Growing up, Kris was very close with their older brother, Asriel. The two often spent time with their neighbors, Dess and Noelle, watching TV together and exploring the forests around town.[119] While the four were close friends, Kris and Noelle grew apart over the years. The cause for this is unknown. Kris had also wanted to befriend Bratty, as she was one of the "big kids". They willingly complied and retrieved food for her until she became sick.[120]
At some point, Toriel and Asgore divorced. While their family was broken, Kris and Asriel remained inseparable. On occasion, Asriel would buy Kris a hot chocolate at QC's Diner,[121] the place they used to frequent as a whole family.[122] One day, Asriel moved out to go to college, leaving Kris alone and without many friends, though they kept in contact before Hometown's internet outage.
Chapter 1

Kris is woken up by Toriel, who warns them that they will be late for school. Kris gets out of bed and can explore their house before leaving. Outside, Kris enters Toriel's van, and she drives southeast. At the school's entrance, Toriel grabs Kris's hand and guides them inside, while Kris follows with their head tilted down. After Toriel's parting hug, Kris enters Alphys's classroom to the left.
In the classroom, Kris asks Noelle to be their partner for the upcoming school project. When Susie suddenly barges in, Alphys instead assigns them to be with her. She then asks the two to retrieve some chalk from the supply closet.
Outside the classroom, Kris catches Susie eating chalk, and due to their silence, she accosts them.[123] Susie releases Kris, and insists that Kris should do the group project before the two move on.[124] Upon opening the supply closet, Kris and Susie find it inexplicably pitch-black. When Susie insists Kris should enter first, Kris steps away from the closet. She suggests they go together, and Kris follows after her. After failing to find a light switch, the floor suddenly gives way, and the two fall into the closet Dark World.
Kris wakes up alone in an unknown area, but they reunite with Susie shortly afterward. Kris and Susie get attacked by a shrouded silhouette, who chases them as they slide into an empty Castle Town. In the town, they meet Ralsei, who offers to tell a prophecy. Kris can agree to listen or claim they already know it. After Lancer ambushes Ralsei, Susie leaves on her own, and Ralsei joins Kris. Ralsei offers a Manual to them, and believes that Kris's choices matter before they enter Card Kingdom to find Susie.[125]
As Kris ventures through the Field, they find Lancer multiple times, solve puzzles, and reunite with Susie again. Susie reluctantly joins when Ralsei emphasizes that only Kris can seal the Dark Fountain.[126] At the Great Board, Lancer lets Kris choose a team name for the three party members.[127]

In the Forest, Kris repeatedly finds Susie and Lancer, who had formed their own team after Susie left Kris's. When Ralsei agrees to help Lancer impress Susie, Kris designs a Thrash Machine for Lancer. Past the Forest's maze, they confront the "DARK" duo and engage them in battle. Upon their defeat, Susie and Lancer decide to rejoin the team. They are later caught by King's minions and imprisoned before they can enter Card Castle.
In Card Castle's prison, Kris helps Susie solve a puzzle and escape her cell. Ralsei pulls Kris aside and tells them to close their eyes and think about Susie. They are freed by Susie soon after and venture through the castle to confront King. King feigns defeat, then violently subdues Kris and their allies. Kris attempts to protect Susie, but King knocks them back, lifts them up in the air, and taunts them. King is later defeated either with the help of Card Kingdom's Darkners or through Ralsei's Pacify spell.
Kris seals the Eastern Fountain and returns to the Light World. After bidding goodbye to Susie, they return home, where Toriel is waiting. In the middle of the night, Kris tosses and turns in bed, only to suddenly leap from their covers and make their way into the center of their room. As they stand on the carpet, Kris slowly raises their arm before violently tearing out their SOUL from their body and forcefully tossing it into a cage in the corner of the room. Kris then brandishes a knife before turning their head and smiling menacingly, with their eye flashing red.
Chapter 2
Kris is woken up by Toriel, who reveals that they had eaten an entire pie the previous night. They arrive late to school, and after meeting up with Susie, they return to the supply closet Dark World. There, Kris meets Ralsei again, who asks them to bring the objects from the neighboring classroom with them. Kris then leaves the Dark World on their own.

Returning with the objects, Kris explores the newly-restructured Castle Town, populated with Card Kingdom's Darkners. They are later expelled from the Dark World by Ralsei to work on their school project. In the Light World, Kris suggests working in the library, after which Susie departs on her own.
In the library, Kris enters a Dark World formed from the computer lab. In the Cyber World, they encounter Queen and discover that Noelle and Berdly had also found themselves in the Dark World, with the latter voluntarily joining forces with Queen. After reuniting with Ralsei again, Kris's party confronts Berdly in Cyber Field and falls into Cyber City.
In Cyber City, Kris separates with Susie and Ralsei and reunites with Noelle, who temporarily joins them. Together, they solve puzzles and confront Berdly again while evading Queen. While stuck in traffic, Kris ventures alone and encounters Spamton in a dumpster. They later reunite with the rest of the party, but they are all caught by Queen and imprisoned before they can enter Queen's Mansion.
In their own personalized room, Kris is freed by Lancer, who had entered their inventory when they were expelled from Castle Town. They venture through the mansion and confront Queen, who holds Noelle and Berdly hostage. Queen escapes to her GIGA Queen mecha, but Kris defeats her with their own Thrash Machine mecha.

Kris seals the library Fountain and returns to the Light World. After depositing the Cyber World Darkners in Castle Town, they return home with Susie, where Toriel invites Susie to stay over. Kris asks to wash their hands before they prepare a pie, and upon turning the water on in the bathroom, they rip out their SOUL and leaves through the window.
Kris returns after some time and re-inserts their SOUL, then watches the TV with Susie. When Susie asks who Kris wants to go with to the upcoming festival, they can choose to mention Susie, Noelle, Ralsei, or not say anything. The two fall asleep watching the TV. Later in the night, Kris rips out their SOUL again. They open the front door, turn on the TV, then briefly look at Susie before creating the Dreemurr residence Fountain in the middle of their living room. Kris returns to the couch and re-inserts their SOUL as the room fills with darkness.
Chapter 3

Kris wakes up in a Dark World with Susie. After reuniting with Ralsei again, they are approached by Tenna, who invites them to participate in TV Time. Kris and the party begin playing The Legend of Tenna's Desert Board and later participate in the Cooking Show physical challenge. In the Cooking Show, Kris plays the role of the server, tossing food to hungry customers and dodging fire.
Kris then participates in the Island Board, where they are given the camera and tasked with reaching Atlantis Stadium. Partway through the board, Susie shuffles the controllers, allowing Kris to temporarily play as HERO_AXE. The board's physical challenge, the Rock Video, has Kris take the role of a guitar player, and they are tasked with playing a concert.
After Susie grows suspicious of Tenna, Kris and their party sneak out of the Green Room and discover an imprisoned Toriel. Tenna sends them back to the game show and forcibly subjects them to a bonus round. During the bonus round, Kris participates in each physical challenge alone, but they later escape by exploiting a Zapper's ACT options.

Kris traverses the greater TV World and confronts Tenna, who implores Kris to remember the times they used to watch him. A flashback scene depicts Kris along with the rest of the Dreemurr and Holiday families watching TV together. As each member of the group disappears one-by-one, Kris is the second-to-last to disappear, preceded by Asriel and followed by Toriel.
Kris then engages Tenna in battle and defeats him. They later engage in battle against the Knight when it attacks Tenna, after which Kris pursues the Knight into the Light World. Kris is dragged by Susie to the shelter, whereupon the door slightly opens in front of them after Susie leaves them alone.
Sword Route
Upon earning a S-rank or above, Kris initiates the Sword Route alone after Tenna's TV Time rounds. While playing the Original Game, HERO_SWORD obtains a sword that allows them to kill enemies in the original Desert Board. In the City Board, when HERO_AXE and HERO_SCARF are killed by HERO_SWORD, Kris turns pale for a second and looks away. When HERO_SWORD tries to enter the shelter, Kris periodically tries to prevent them from entering by repeatedly moving away from it. Later in the shelter, Kris then spots a game version of Tenna, who talks about his history with Spamton. After spotting HERO_SWORD, he talks to Kris about his deal with them, only to be killed afterwards by HERO_SWORD.

During the fight against the Shadow Mantle holder, Kris takes damage and can get a Game Over upon death, instead of the console turning off. After the fight, the Shadow Mantle appears in a chest that is out of reach from HERO_SWORD. HERO_SWORD then walks out of the game screen and into Kris's world, startling Kris, resulting in them backing away from HERO_SWORD. After HERO_SWORD leaves, Kris temporarily enters the game to collect the Shadow Mantle. Susie then appears and talks to Kris. Optionally, HERO_SWORD returns for a short time, and if they try to attack Susie, Kris pulls her away.
Completing each board in the Sword Route changes Kris's title, and adds a special stat for them (simply an asterisk) that counts the number of enemies HERO_SWORD killed.
Chapter 4
Kris is woken up by Toriel in the living room and has breakfast with Susie. They then travel to the church for service, where Kris questions the churchgoers for information concerning the shelter codes. Concluding that their best lead is Carol, Kris and Susie ask Noelle if they can work on their school project at her house in order to investigate further. Kris and Susie can then explore Hometown and hang out with each other.

At Noelle's House, Kris investigates Dess's guitar, but they rip out their SOUL before they can fully read the code inside. They toss the SOUL in a small storage closet before heading to the kitchen, where they hold a call with an unknown person while preparing chocolate milk. If the SOUL is caught at this point, Kris tosses it back into the closet and returns to the kitchen, where they eventually walk to the piano and play piano renditions of several songs from Deltarune's soundtrack.
Eventually, Kris catches the SOUL as it attempts to reach the guitar again and traps it in Dess's closet. They repeatedly strike the SOUL with a hockey stick as it attempts to reach the guitar on the other side of the closet. After Susie takes the guitar, Kris informs the unknown person of the situation and re-inserts their SOUL, after which they briefly collapse to the ground.
After being expelled from Noelle's House by Carol, Kris heads back to the church to wait for Toriel, only to find a Dark World inside the lobby. In the Dark Sanctuary, Kris confronts the Knight again, but they are knocked down to the lower levels of the Dark World. Injured, Kris collapses again, but Ralsei arrives and heals them. They then traverse the Dark Sanctuary to make it back to the Dark Fountain.

After sealing the Dark Sanctuary Fountain, Kris traverses Susie's 2nd Sanctuary in search of the code to a locked church door in the Light World. Eventually, they both come across a darkened room and are attacked by the Sound of Justice. Kris parries one of its attacks in Susie's defense and fights until Ralsei destroys the statue. Kris then seals the Dark Fountain after learning the code to the locked door and returns to the church lobby.
Kris then traverses the 3rd Sanctuary and confronts the Knight again, upon which the Knight creates a Dark Fountain and gives form to a Titan. Kris defeats the Titan by jumping into it and sealing it as if it were a Dark Fountain. They then seal the 3rd Sanctuary Fountain and return to the Light World.
Upon returning home with Susie, Kris discovers Toriel dancing with Sans in the living room, prompting Susie to leave. In the middle of the night, Kris tosses and turns in their bed attempting to drown out the muffled noise from Toriel and Sans until Susie's arrival quiets them. Kris walks up to the window and climbs up the windowsill when they receive a call from the unknown caller, reminding them of a promise they had made.
Chapter 5
Kris climbs through their bedroom window in the early morning, their skin having turned a sick greenish color. They sluggishly crawl towards the birdcage that houses the SOUL, fetching it and re-inserting it into their body. Afterward, their skin reverts to its usual color, but their body still feels weak and unfamiliar.[128] When they walk downstairs, they watch Toriel wake up on the couch, and she asks them to make honey toast for her. After she is given toast, Kris makes their way over to Castle Town in order to meet Susie before her date with Noelle.

After the rendez-vous at Castle Town, Kris accompanies Susie out of school, and the two are met with Noelle just outside. They all decide to take a look around the Festival together. Once the sun has begun to set, they leave the Festival and sit at a table beside the lake. Kris decides to take a nap as Susie and Noelle have an intimate moment together, embracing over the lake. Kris wakes up after Susie has left to buy more snacks, however, Noelle is forced to leave due to hearing bad news about Rudy. Susie returns soon after, and is told by Kris that Noelle had to go somewhere, so they both agree to walk away from the lake.
As Kris and Susie walk in front of Asgore's shop, Susie stops and enters the shop to buy some flowers for Noelle. While she can't see them, Kris rips out their SOUL, throws it into a nearby trash can, and takes out their knife. After buying the flowers, Susie walks out of the shop holding them, and Kris has to walk behind the shop in order to avoid being seen. They enter Flower King through its backdoor, and open the Flower Kingdom Dark Fountain. After Susie has jumped into the Dark World to investigate, Kris re-inserts their SOUL into their body and follows her inside.

The pair land in the Garden, where they spot Asgore and follow him. However, Flowery appears and introduces himself to the Lightners, calling himself Asgore's "best friend". Ralsei is found trapped in a wardrobe nearby, and the party is reunited as they explore the Garden. Making their way over to the Fountain, they meet several flowers, all of which make their reverence for Asgore clear.
At the end of the Garden, Flowery shows Kris and Susie a gateway to the Light World, warning them that if they stay, only trouble will bloom. Afterward, when the party reunites with Asgore, he is shocked that they refused to return home, and pushes Kris and Susie into the gateway. In the Light World, he slams the door to Flower King shut, intending to lock them out of the Dark World.
While they are outside, Kris reveals to Susie that they know of a second door to Asgore's shop, causing her to realize that whoever made the Dark Fountain likely used the back door to enter.[129] Susie also remembers that Kris was back there earlier, and grows suspicious. She asks Kris if they saw anyone else, which causes them to step backwards and turn their head away from her; however, Susie ultimately decides to trust Kris.[130] The two of them re-enter the Dark World through the back door, ending up in Flower Castle's jail. Flowery mocks the duo and leaves them in their cell, however, Aqua notices them and mistakenly assumes that they are playing a game. Susie asks Seth, who followed Aqua into the room, to let them out in order for Aqua to win the "game". Seth seemingly obliges, and opens the door to their jail cell. However, after Susie has left the room, Seth confronts Kris and mentions that they had struck a bargain beforehand. Kris holds up their end of the deal, presenting Seth with one of Berdly's feathers, whom they idolize.[131]

Within the castle, Asgore mentions that if he finds the person who opened the Dark Fountain, he will give them back all the pain they've inflicted and parade their body around town.[132] He is not aware of the fact that Kris is that person, however, he believes that catching them would prove his innocence, as he has blamed himself for an undisclosed tragedy. Various notes are scattered around the castle, detailing Asgore's research into the Dark World and his analysis of Black Shards.
If Kris converses with Ralsei about Dark Fountains at the hot spring, Ralsei confronts them about the fact they have made multiple Dark Fountains. He tells them that he is worried about the fact they are releasing more darkness, helping to usher in the Roaring. Conversely, he also mentions that during their piano performance, there was something Kris knew beyond the notes themselves. In the end, Ralsei concludes that he should have faith in Kris, even if they are doing things he is against.
At the top of Flower Castle, the party faces Flowery and the others in a final showdown. During the battle, Flowery mentions that he is suspicious of Kris' plans and how they have changed since childhood. He warns them that if they're going to do something to Asgore, he's going to stop them right then and there. In the end, Kris is able to defeat Flowery with one final slash, and he concedes. The party says their goodbyes to the flowers, and Asgore apologizes to Kris, telling them he is proud of them and that the two will tell the mayor about what they have seen. However, when Kris seals the Fountain, it is revealed that another one was made, and the Knight appears. It attempts to kidnap Asgore, but Flowery engages it in combat, seemingly gaining the upper hand before the Knight reveals that his stats are fake. Flowery is sliced in half, and the Knight successfully leaves with Asgore. An injured Flowery says his goodbyes to the party, and Kris moves on to seal the Dark Fountain.

After the Flower Kingdom Dark Fountain is sealed, Kris and Susie arrive back in the Light World. They are faced with a damaged version of Asgore's shop, with Flowery in particular being torn in his Light World form. Susie resolves to tape him back together, and move Yellow and Blue into the same container. While Susie is downstairs, Kris finds a piece of paper inside Flowery's soil featuring a code to the shelter door. They begin to rip it up, however Susie enters and takes the paper from them before they can do so.
Afterward, the duo leaves Flower King, and Susie tells Kris to walk her home. They head to Castle Town, and Susie reminisces on their adventures, saying that it has felt like their special "Kris and Susie thing" that nobody else can know about. Kris agrees with her,[133] however, as they approach the closet door, Susie suggests that in order to get closer to the shelter codes, they should recruit Noelle into the party.
Weird Route

The player can initiate the Weird Route during Chapter 2 by commanding Noelle to defeat enemies with her IceShock spell. Eventually, Kris must take a deal with Spamton in order to obtain the ThornRing and continue on this path. As she freezes more and more of the Cyber World's residents, Noelle becomes convinced that this is a good thing; she believes that as long as she does what Kris says, she'll become stronger. However, over the course of the route, Kris becomes increasingly troubled with its events,[134] as it was not their choice to enter it. The battle with Berdly near the end of Cyber City is still present on the route, and if all prerequisites have been met, it is possible to freeze him. Berdly is frozen by Noelle's SnowGrave, and the latter leaves the party, stating that she doesn't feel good. After Noelle has walked away, Kris takes a shortcut to Queen's mansion through the sewers and reunites with the party.
After traversing the mansion, Kris finally arrives at the Dark Fountain, having skipped the battle against Queen entirely. They are not joined by either of their usual teammates, and instead fight against Spamton NEO on their own. Spamton is surprised that Kris is fighting him, and notes that he gave them a "[Commemorative Ring]" and his "LIFE ADVICE". He blames Noelle for this, and warns Kris that he thinks that if they continue on this path, they will end up wishing that Spamton had killed them right then and there.[135] Eventually, Kris begins to call for help, but both Susie and Ralsei do not come to their aid.[136] However, when they call for Noelle, Spamton notes that it has suddenly become cold, and he is instantly defeated by Noelle's magic.

The Weird Route does not continue in Chapter 3, however it is strongly related to the Sword Route and affects certain events within it. The Shadow Mantle holder will not only say that a part of Kris finds the Original Game to be fun,[137] but also mention that that same part of Kris also enjoyed the events of yesterday.[138] The Mantle holder claims that Kris was relieved by the fact they knew they "could say it wasn't really [them]", and they react negatively to this suggestion.[139]
In Chapter 4, the route continues once more, and its effects are felt within the Light World. The library is closed due to Berdly's medical absence and a lack of volunteers. If the hospital is visited, it is revealed that he is recovering in a hospital bed, unconscious and cold. Kris can increase the heating on Berdly's hot water, which helps him breathe more steadily. When the party goes to Noelle's house, she does not receive a phone call from him as she usually does.

When Kris rips out their soul in Dess's room, they shove it in a drawer in order to speak with Noelle one-on-one.[79] She mentions that last night, they had visited her and spoke about her "dream". Kris removed a thorn out of her hand and apologized to her for acting strangely. They reassured her that Berdly would be okay, and Noelle notes that it felt like the first time she had heard Kris's real voice in a long time. However, in the middle of the conversation, the soul is able to reinsert itself into Kris's body. Kris becomes paranoid and covers Noelle's mouth, afraid that they'd be heard. It is at this point that the player can begin speaking to Noelle directly, and the player forces Kris to "Proceed" and re-equip the ThornRing onto Noelle. After this, Kris throws the soul into a garbage can and kicks it repeatedly in an attempt to punish it.
In the Dark Sanctuary, Gerson can comment on Kris's "peculiar" tone. He senses that they are having relationship troubles and tries to comfort them, telling Kris that at their age, things can "go cold" and seem hopeless. However, he assures them that they'll grow up and that everything will be alright.[140] During the tea party, once Susie leaves, he observes that Kris is "really just going through the motions" and wishes them well. After sealing the Dark Fountains, Kris returns home and receives a phone call from Carol, who mentions Noelle is eager to spend time with them at the festival.[141]
The events of Chapter 5's Weird Route almost exclusively feature Kris and Noelle, and there is no Dark World segment. Kris stays asleep in their bed and attempts to skip the Festival entirely; the chapter begins at sunset rather than morning. They resist the player's attempts to make them get out of bed, but if they're forced to, they slowly explore the festival with Susie at sunset. She remarks that she wants to show them around even if almost everyone has already left, because she'd feel bad otherwise. Kris is repeatedly noted to be feeling unwell, possibly due to how long they've kept the soul out of their body.[142][143][144]

After getting bread from Sans, Kris can continue to the lake's shore, where Noelle is waiting for them. She gives a monologue about how she has felt trapped in a certain routine ever since Dess's disappearance, and wants Kris to help her break free.[145] She believes that Kris has the ability to make anything happen, no matter how impossible. Noelle resolves to "grow wings" and "fly" to the other side of the lake with them, something the pair and their siblings have wanted to do since childhood.[146] Kris does not appear to resist as Noelle takes their hands and walks them into the lake. She repeatedly begs them to tell her to "Proceed" as they descend into the water. The player must select the "Proceed" dialogue option at an increasingly fast rate in order not to abort the route; the two will return to the surface if this requirement is failed, and Noelle will act as if nothing happened.[147] Finally, the two are completely submerged in the water, and the screen turns completely white before cutting to black. A realistic CRT screen will then appear, displaying the text "Insert Chapter 7 Side B".
Relationships
Asriel
Asriel is Kris's adoptive older brother. The two were often seen as inseparable since childhood, and Kris often played video games with him.[148]
After Asriel left for college, Kris often stayed up late conversing with him online, until the internet went out.[149] Kris's search query on college indicates they miss Asriel.[150]
In Chapter 2, Kris closes their eyes when attempting to check Asriel's room in Queen's Mansion, indicating they are protective of him to an extent.[151]
In Chapter 3, when the player implies they have seen Ralsei's face before, Kris will break into laughter while also assuring them that Ralsei and Asriel are different.[152] In Chapter 4, when Susie mistakes Asriel for Ralsei, Kris adamantly points out every difference between them.[153]
Toriel

Toriel is implied to have had difficulties with raising Kris prior to the events of Deltarune, as she had frequently borrowed How To Care For A Human from the library.[154] Despite this, Toriel is patient and motherly, and finds most of Kris's antics endearing.
She still holds Kris's hand when taking them to school in the present day, and keeps their childhood drawing in her classroom. Although she loves both Kris and Asriel equally, she tries to limit Kris's impulsiveness, such as locking the chocolate kisses in her room.[155]
Asgore

Asgore is Kris's adoptive father. When Kris was a young child, they used to watch Asgore's favorite cowboy program with him,[156] and played catch with him.[157] After he and Toriel's divorce, Kris does not live with him. It is unclear if they visited the Flower King shop prior to Deltarune.
Kris appears to dislike some of the circumstances that have occurred to Asgore. This includes the lack of food in Asgore's refrigerator, as they refuse to take the last pickle. If the Egg was found, Kris puts the Egg inside the fridge without a prompt.[158] In the Police Station, Kris becomes uncomfortable while reading a news article, as they skim read before stopping entirely on Asgore getting fired.[159]
Susie
In Chapter 1, Kris is initially intimidated by Susie's rough demeanor. After Susie warns Kris and they escape the spade storm together, Kris is no longer afraid of her.[160] When Susie emphasizes that she is counting on them to make the right choice, Kris later shields her from King's spade attack unprompted.
After returning from their adventure, Kris can inform Toriel that they were hanging out with a friend, indicating that Kris had a good time with Susie. In contrast, Monster Kid's ridicule of Susie offends Kris after their adventure.[161]
During Chapter 2, more evidence of their friendship is shown through Kris's actions. They focus on Susie when they drink her Tea, and are distinctly compliant to Susie. If Kris inspects the "Susie-like statue" and "ICE-E statue", Susie wants the former, and insists Kris gets the latter for their room. Kris steals either or both without a prompt, even if the latter statue discomforts them.[162]

Throughout Chapters 3 and 4, Kris and Susie grow even closer. Kris is reassured by Susie's presence[163] and most moments during the Chapters when Kris's personality is shown are through their interactions with Susie, such as when Kris and Susie pour drinks into each other's mouths or when Kris lifts Susie without a prompt while she eats the snack tray outside Noelle's House. Kris is also shown to care a lot for Susie through the Sword Route, as Kris flinches away from the screen when the player directs them to kill HERO_AXE and, if the player attempts to use HERO_SWORD to attack Susie when she enters the room, Kris will pull her away. Kris is also shown on multiple occasions to enjoy staring at Susie.[164]
Ralsei
Kris and Ralsei work together throughout Deltarune, including several times the two are separated from the rest of the party. Kris appears to be indifferent to Ralsei at first. It is implied that Kris likes Ralsei less than Susie in Chapter 2, as the Ralsei Tea restores less HP for them than the Susie Tea.

However, as the story progresses, Kris occasionally shows some kindness towards Ralsei, such as laying flat on the ground next to him to "show him compassion" after he is stepped on by Susie during a scene in Chapter 4, or comforting him after Susie destroys the final part of the prophecy. Moreover, Kris will occasionally cover their mouth or cough mid-sentence if they are prompted to say something that would upset Ralsei.[165] As with Susie, Kris looks away from the screen when prompted to kill HERO_SCARF in the Original Game.
Noelle
Kris and Noelle are neighbors and childhood friends. Years prior to the events of Deltarune, Noelle and Kris used to be close and spent a lot of time together, sometimes as a group with their older siblings. Kris had a reputation for pulling pranks on Noelle, but was often swiftly reprimanded by Dess for it. However, the two began to grow apart over time and Kris became somewhat of a loner without her.
In Chapter 1, Kris trying to talk about anything causes Noelle to be confused.[166]
In Chapter 2, Kris and Noelle end up forming a truce and traversing Cyber City together. There, Noelle reminisces about their childhood and opens up to Kris, slowly rekindling their friendship. One of the Addisons asks if the two of them are friends or something else, and Noelle is happy when "We're friends" is chosen.[167] Noelle also mentions that Kris is the only person who knows how weird she is,[168] and that Kris and she know each other better than anyone,[169] indicating a deep familiarity between the two of them.
In Chapter 4, Noelle is surprised when Kris compliments her singing and mentions that she misses hearing them play the piano.[170] While at her house, Kris automatically steals one of Noelle's pencils out of habit, which she does not react to, presumably being used to it. When eavesdropping on her and Susie in Dess's room, Noelle mentions Kris's odd behavior[44] and voice in the last few days, making her one of the only people who noticed a change in Kris since the player took control.
Weird Route
Pursuing the Weird Route puts a considerable strain on Noelle and Kris's relationship.
In Chapter 2's Weird Route, Noelle becomes increasingly scared of Kris because of the violent orders given to her, and even considers harming them at one point,[171] before seemingly falling into a trance-like state where she actively wants to become stronger with Kris's help. After waking up in the Light World, Noelle initially thinks the events in the Cyber World were just a dream and is relieved to have woken up. If Kris visits her and her father at the hospital, Noelle excuses herself and decides to investigate Kris's weird behaviour, but becomes terrified when Kris corners her while wearing her Wristwatch.

In Chapter 4's Weird Route, Noelle is focused on Kris rather than Susie when she invites the two to her house, and asks Kris to speak with her in private once there. She reveals that Kris visited her, comforted her and apologized, before removing a thorn from her finger. Noelle mentions feeling relieved when she heard Kris's normal voice as opposed to their voice when controlled by the player. She is shocked and becomes terrified of Kris again when the ThornRing is re-equipped to her. Kris gives the player multiple options to abort the route, flees the room with Noelle if they spot the SOUL early, and reacts violently towards the SOUL if the route is continued, showing they are very protective of Noelle. Despite everything, Noelle seems excited to see Kris at the festival by the end of the day.[141]
Chapter 5's Weird Route is unique in that it is almost entirely made up of Kris and Noelle's interaction by the lake – with the exception of Sans's and Susie's dialogue, all other interactions are completely optional. Kris shows an extreme amount of resistance to the player at the beginning of the chapter, showing both their disgust for the SOUL's actions, and their protectiveness over Noelle. However, Kris seems completely resigned to Noelle's desires once they arrive at the lake's shore, and simply allow her to take their hand and lead them to the water. Noelle, despite their terror of Kris in Chapter 4's weird route, now actively wants to talk with Kris.[172] She talks about the changes in Kris, referring to the SOUL controlling them, and is visibly upset that no one can see how "interesting" they are now.[173] She seems jealous of these changes, and sees it as "breaking free".[174] She describes Kris in a disturbingly god-like way, saying that if Kris tells her to anything, no matter how impossible, she knows it can be done.[175] This is an interesting parallel of Ralsei's faith in Kris.[176]
Berdly
Kris and Berdly have a rivalry with each other, but are implied to have played video games together in the past (especially fighting games, by Berdly's mentions of wavedashing).[93] When selecting who they would like to go to the festival with, if Berdly is selected, then Kris repeats his name loudly.[177] They become allies throughout the later parts of Chapter 2 and work together to defeat Queen, with Berdly saving Kris, Susie, and Ralsei before their fight with GIGA Queen. Although Berdly believes the events in the Cyber World to be a dream after waking up, his opinions of Kris and Susie slightly soften, giving studying with them a chance and even nicely wishing them both a good day before leaving the library.
Weird Route
After all enemies are frozen in Cyber City in Chapter 2, Noelle is commanded to freeze Berdly in a big block of ice. Despite their rivalry, Kris appears distraught by this, refusing to look closer at him[178] or interact with him after he fails to wake up in the Light World.[179] At some point before Chapter 4, Kris brings Berdly to the hospital. If he is visited there in Chapter 4, Kris turns up the heat in his hospital room to ease him, without the player's input.
Dess
As children, Kris and Asriel used to spend time with Noelle and Dess. It is implied that they were friends, although Dess may have been much closer to Asriel than she was to Kris. Dess seems to not have tolerated Kris's torment of her younger sister, as she smacked Kris with a wiffle bat when they were lying to Noelle on at least one occasion.[180] It appears that Dess used to discipline Kris in this way often, as hinted at by Noelle's dialogue,[181] as well as Kris's reaction to some of the things in Dess's room.[182]
Rudy
Rudy is a friend of Kris's father, Asgore. He affectionately sees Kris as "the creepy kid next door" he once yelled at for getting tangled in the Holidays' light display.[183] Rudy treats Kris kindly regardless, and jests if they inspect other objects in the room.[184] In Chapter 1, Rudy is surprised to see Kris visiting him, and assumes Toriel urged them.
Spamton
By default, Kris first encounters Spamton in a Cyber City alleyway. From there, they have the option of making a deal to help him become Spamton NEO by opening the basement in Queen's Mansion using KeyGen and transporting the LoadedDisk to the derelict machine located therein. Kris initially seems afraid of Spamton, as they stagger backwards before his encounter. If Spamton's side quest is continued, Kris agrees to his requests to interact with him alone, telling the other party members to stay behind. Additionally, Kris seems frustrated when the machine in the basement initially does not do anything, kicking and shaking it without any player input.[185]
At the end of the Spamton NEO battle, Spamton's faith in the heroes increases as he turns into the Dealmaker or PuppetScarf and gives them a Shadow Crystal. When Susie asks if Kris is okay after the battle, Kris turns away and yells the response if the player selects "No".[186] Otherwise, they noticeably strain to say "Yes",[187] and get goosebumps, which implies that Spamton's words about being a puppet, combined with his ultimate fate, deeply unsettled Kris.
On the Weird Route, he sells Kris and Noelle the ThornRing. If the ThornRing was obtained, he feels betrayed if he is attacked during the fight against him in Cyber City.[188]
Tenna
Kris was one of Tenna's most frequent users, watching him with their family and the Holidays and playing games with Asriel and Noelle. They, with Susie and Ralsei, become his contestants on TV Time during Chapter 3. As with the rest of the party, Tenna attempts to appeal to Kris's nostalgia to keep himself plugged in. Without completing the Sword Route, Kris deals less damage to Tenna during their battle.
During the Sword Route, Tenna is the final character they must kill to reach LV MAX. Before dying, he nervously states that he had followed his side of their deal and asks whether they will turn him off again.[189]
Knight

Kris is shown to have some relationship with the Knight, though the exact nature of that relationship is unclear. During the party's battle with the Knight in Chapter 3, Kris deals less damage than any other party member unless Ralsei and Susie are DOWNed, in which case their damage output increases. This implies that while Kris is holding back against the Knight, they do not tolerate it harming their friends. Furthermore, if the party deals a sufficient amount of damage to the Knight, it attacks both Ralsei and Susie directly, knocking them out in one hit each, but does not attack Kris, instead forcing them to kneel by pushing down on their shoulder with its weapon.
In Chapter 4, if Kris is able to reach the Knight in the Dark Sanctuary, they do not attack it despite Susie's insistence. When Ralsei asks Kris to close their eyes, if they do not choose to picture Susie, they are given the choice to think of the Knight. When Kris imagines it removing its helmet, they vividly imagine Jockington and Temmie instead to avoid thinking of the Knight's identity.[190]
Creation and development

One of Toby Fox's earliest concept art of Kris is from 2014 or 2015, which was shared on his official Twitter on 2018.[191]
Gigi helped with Kris's character design, and has also created the various alternate costumes for Kris.[192] Chess worked on the Dark World color palette[67] and had created some base sprites and animations for Temmie Chang to work on.[193] One of the animations Chess has created includes Kris's idle animation during encounters.
During the UNDERTALE 6th Anniversary stream, Toby Fox made some comments regarding Kris about Chapter 1:
- At the start of the game, Toby states that the scene of Susie menacing Kris is inspired by a real bully in his life, who was familiar with his mother.[194]
- During the start of ??????, Toby confirms that buttons can be mashed to make Kris stand up sooner. He describes it as a "pointless detail".[195]
- During the spade storm sequence, Kris is set to automatically run, as Toby was unsure if it was possible to finish the sequence by walking through it, and if players would be aware of the running feature due to it not being present in Undertale.[196]
In a 2023 Live A Live interview, Toby implies that Kris may have been inspired by Oersted, as Kris may similarly have another role than only being a "hero".[197]
Outside of Deltarune
Chapter 1 Spoiler-Free Trailer

Kris appears a few times in the DELTARUNE Chapter 1 Spoiler-Free Trailer. However, their face is censored by an Annoying Dog. Versus Rudinn, their name is written as "Dogs" in the encounter. In Castle Town, Kris pets an extra Annoying Dog while their face is still censored.
Spamton Sweepstakes
During the Spamton Sweepstakes 2022 event, pages were added to the official Deltarune website. The following anecdotes feature or mention Kris.
The rotating banner, deltarune.com/icee/, is an ICE-E sightings report from a young Noelle, who screamed when she thought she saw the ICE-E on a pizza box wink at her. Dess burned out the eyes on the box, and Asriel suggested they bury the box. As Kris was about to bury it in the graveyard, Noelle fussed over potential zombies. Kris instead wore the box over their head and scared her, which caused Dess to hit Kris and throw out the box herself.
Two are private posts from Noelle's blog, which can only be seen by friends.
In deltarune.com/kris_dreemurr_kris/, Noelle reminisces about how Kris used to visit and play with her nearly every day. Noelle mentions that Kris would suddenly go still, and leave to go to the dining room to "get a snack", where they instead played the piano. If she watched, Kris would stop playing. Kris continued to play when Noelle stopped watching.
The URL foreshadows that Kris inherited the Dreemurrs' surname; making their full name Kris Dreemurr. In Chapter 3, it is confirmed via "Dreemurr" being a correct answer in TV World's first quiz section.
A variant of pianpian also appears in this private post, which briefly plays in the Dark Sanctuary after Kris plays the piano in Chapter 4.
In deltarune.com/the_n3w3st_g1rl_g1rl/, Noelle writes about Susie actively being hostile towards Kris, though she notes that Kris seems "oblivious" and does not inform Toriel about the bullying. She writes about an incident after school where Kris was asleep at their desk, and Susie begun bullying them for using apple-scented shampoo.
When Susie threatened them as she bit an apple, Kris suppressed a laugh. With their "gamer reaction speed", Kris deflected it at an angle, caught, and bit into the apple she threw. Susie immediately grabbed them by the hair and claimed Toriel would soon be tired of them, and would be happier if they disappeared. Noelle noted that Kris had quietly responded back, which caused Susie to abscond. Afterwards, Kris heard Noelle and flung open her locker. They stared at her, then slowly closed it and left.
In deltarune.com/rain/, Noelle believes that Kris has seen the rare cat that lowered points, though she assumes they would not give a straight answer if she asked. It is one of the Silence links added on May 9, 2025.
In battle
Title
Kris's title on the POWER stats menu varies primarily from the player's choices, or story progress. Some of which are route based, or involve moss.
Stats
| LV | HP | Attack | Defense | Magic | Guts |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 90 | 10 | 2 | 0 | 1 |
| 2 | 120-160 | 12-15 | 2 | 0 | 2 |
| 3 | 160-186 | 14-15 | 2 | 0 | 2 |
| 4 | 200-240 | 17-19 | 2 | 0 | 3 |
| 5 | 240-272 | 17-18 | 2 | 0 | 3 |
Kris can gain +1 Max HP in Chapter 4 by telling the Old Man that they would go "Futher left" on which path to take.[198]
Kris's special stat slots change: the first slot can rarely have a "Dog" when moving between party member stats, with the taken slot varying in other Chapters. Otherwise, Kris's second slot can list "*", "Slain", or "Purify" based on the route or Chapter progress, with the tallies are based on the amount of defeated enemies. In Chapter 5, both slots are replaced tallies for "Jumps'" and "Slashes".
ACTs
It's not magic, is it?
No, not something like this.POWER Spells menu, Chapter 5

Kris performs various ACTs from their ACT command menu, which does not use TP and can help SPARE an enemy. These ACTs can also occasionally be done as a team with other party members, with Kris occasionally issuing commands.[199][200] In Chapter 2, Ralsei states that ACTing is Kris's "unique talent" as opposed to casting spells.[201] Typically, Kris's ACT earns a higher Mercy percent than a party member's S/R/N-Action.
Most ACTs do not require TP to perform, with the following ACTs versus bosses and select enemies being exceptions. These can temporarily alter a stat, heal, inflict extra damage, or end the fight:
| ACT | Enemy#Strategy | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Courage | vs. King | Kris encourages their party members, which raises their Defense for one turn. |
| Pirouette | vs. Jevil | Kris spins on one foot, and an effect occurs based on the turn. |
| Hypnosis | vs. Jevil | Kris gazes at Jevil, which lowers his Attack. |
| HealDeal | vs. Spamton | Kris accepts a deal, and their HP is healed. |
| Take House 2 | vs. Rouxls Kaard | Kris takes two houses in the minigame. |
| X-Slash
FriedPipis |
vs. Spamton NEO | A strong attack, and a healing ACT respectively. Weird Route only. |
| PowerPhoto | vs. Shuttah | A fast photo shoot, also uses Susie's turn. |
| Mute | vs. Zapper | Makes enemies Tired and increases Zapper's Mercy percent. |
| OffButton | vs. Zapper | Spares everyone.
The party escapes. |
| Minigame | vs. Tenna | Starts a random minigame, and can use Susie and Ralsei's turns. |
| Whirlwind | vs. Winglade | Instantly spares all enemies, also uses Susie and Ralsei's turns. |
| Banish | vs. Titan Spawn | Kris's SOUL emits light. |
| Unleash | vs. Jackenstein | Kris's SOUL emits a bright light. |
| Posey | vs. Flowery | Resembles Undertale's FIGHT interface. |
Versus certain bosses, Spells can appear in Kris's ACT menu, which uses both Kris and the party member's turn, such as Ralsei's DualHeal and Susie's RedBuster/DualBuster. These spells are stated in-game to be enhanced by Kris's SOUL "shining its power" upon the other party members.
X-Slash
Costs 25% TP. It is an attack ACT that hits the enemy twice with delayed strikes in a single turn, and does more damage than the FIGHT command. It deals damage based on Kris's AT, rounded half-up .[202] In Chapter 2, X-Slash can deal a maximum of 558 damage total (279 damage per slash) with the MechaSaber, Jevilstail, and a IronShackle equipped against Spamton NEO, not including stat bonuses from defeating enemies.

Tenna: What the - are you kidding!? I LOVE Kris! They were one of my original viewers!
— Tenna and Susie, Chapter 3
I'm just not sure if, heh, they... uhh, love TV.
Susie: Huh? Why wouldn't they... - ↑
Kris held their breath. Their heartbeat quickened. The SOUL now moves faster.
— Narration, HoldBreath versus Knight, Chapter 3 - ↑
Hey, Krismas! Look who decided to crawl out of their lil' igloo.
— Rudy, Chapter 4 - ↑
Haha, the apple smelling kid and their pizza stank brother!
— Susie, Chapter 4 - ↑
(When Kris was little, they'd take one of these...)
— Noelle, Chapter 4
(Then pretend to "rip out their heart" and chase me.) - ↑
Umm, Kris overcut their snowflake and it fell apart.
— Noelle, Chapter 4
(I did make a new one for them, but...) - ↑
Kris made my screensaver a screamer again, didn't they.
— Noelle, Chapter 4 - 1 2
I ended up... I ended up being in a large city, with Kris.
— Noelle, Chapter 4
What was interesting is that... Kris just...
Kris, just acted, not like their normal self?
They acted... Just like they do recently, I guess. - 1 2
And Kris, even though they kept looking at me...
— Noelle, Chapter 4
Like they wanted to say something...
Everything that came out of their mouth, sounded... odd.
Like it was like on speaker or something. - ↑
Susie: I think Kris's just weird, period.
— Susie and Noelle, Chapter 4
Yeah, sometimes they mumble, sometimes they yell...
But sometimes, it's like... dude, I don't know why, but like...
For some reason they're really really...
Good at flirting?
Noelle: ... h-huh? W... what makes you say that, Susie?
Susie: Uhh... nevermind.
Haven't you like, seen them flirt with people?
Noelle: With... WHO???
Susie: Like... uhh... enemies?
Noelle: WHAT ENEMIES???
Susie: Dude, I don't know! I'm just thinking like... damn.
I should get flirting lessons from them. - ↑
Well, Kris was quiet, and staring out the window...
— Noelle, Chapter 4
And suddenly out of nowhere, they shook the whole thing...
And I screamed, and then they turned to me and smiled... - ↑
Old Man: ... You weren't truly fighting by yourself, were ya?
— Old Man and Susie, Chapter 4
Susie: ... huh?
... oh, you mean Kris. Yeah.
Guess I kinda needed their help to win. - ↑
(Kris picked up a pencil.)
— Egg dialogue, Chapter 4
(They began by sketching what they had seen behind the tree.)
(But, as they sketched, the line began to err, as if the pencil had lost its way.)
(So they started again, drawing over the lines they had already made.)
(Many times, they would suddenly halt, or the pencil drifted into a new drawing...)
(So, they started over, over, over again.)
(Through many repetitions, their movements became faster and smoother...)
(... until without looking, they had completed a sketch in a single, wild line.)
(...)
(In the end, as a result of layering the sketches on top of each other...)
(... The surface of the canvas was nothing more than a monochrome smear.)
(...)
(Next, a tree was painted over it...)
(... painted over everything...)
(... leaving nothing but a simple still life.)
(... After all, there wasn't anything to look at in the room besides a single tree.)
(...)
(Kris got up. It seemed the painting was complete.)
(...)
(But, their hand, smudged with graphite...)
(... was still moving, as if to trace some unseen shape.) - ↑
S... Sorry, Kris... What did you say? I must have misheard you.
— Noelle, Weird Route, Chapter 4
(No... there's no way they... they heard...)
(There's no way they heard... my thoughts.) - ↑
Susie: Top hats, ribbons, shirts, gowns, shorts, pants, a scuba outfit...
— Susie and Ralsei, Chapter 5
Like, what, Ralsei? You think Kris's gonna play dress up?
Ralsei: Umm... if they want to! - ↑
Susie: Psst, Noelle... maybe you don't know, but...
— Susie and Noelle, when interacting with the church's storage room door in Chapter 5 if either "I'll play again someday" or "If you play too" was selected in Chapter 4
Kris is... kinda awesome at piano.
Noelle: O... oh, really? Is that so...?
Susie: ... you should hear them play sometime.
Noelle: Sure, only if... they want to. - ↑
They even said... they'd show me how to...
— Susie, when interacting with the church's storage room door in Chapter 5 if "If you play too" was selected in Chapter 4 - ↑
Berdly: Kris... Kris Cross Applesauce...
— Berdly and Susie, Chapter 5
Susie: We, uh, need them. - ↑
Ralsei: Did... you ask Kris if they want to wear one?
— Ralsei and Susie, inspecting the hat wardrobe after collecting the hats but before speaking to Flowery with Ralsei present, Chapter 5
Susie: Nah, they have to. - ↑
If only I could have shown something like this to Kris.
— Asgore, 2nd Cowboy sign check, Chapter 5
They would always do finger guns, and pretend to shoot me... - ↑
(Kris felt a strange melancholy.)
— Egg dialogue after getting all prior Eggs, Chapter 5
(It was a feeling that they should not look for the man anymore.)
(... even though they had never done such a thing in the first place.) - ↑
(They forgot.)
— Susie and Ralsei, "I just like ACTing with you more", Chapter 5 - ↑
(K-Kris looks like they're having fun, so...)
— Ralsei, Chapter 5 - ↑
i tried to say kris I’m scared and they turned around with the box over there face and I screemed so dess hitted them and took it away and through it away
— Noelle, https://deltarune.com/icee/ - ↑
Literally ONLY Kris seems oblivious to this. Or, no. Are they oblivious? They're literally getting bullied! Do they just... not care? Then again, who knows what Kris is thinking. I just don't get why they don't tell their mom.
— Noelle, https://deltarune.com/the_n3w3st_g1rl_g1rl/ - ↑
It's funny... there was a time when they were coming over almost every day.
— Noelle, https://deltarune.com/kris_dreemurr_kris/
We'd play, and we'd play... then after a while, they would suddenly get very still, like they were remembering something.
They'd go into the dining room to "get a snack," then after a few moments, I'd hear the piano.
The first few times, I went into watch them play, but when they realized I was looking, they'd always shut the piano and come back.
So over time, I just started staying on the couch in the living room. I'd lie there, listening to them play, sometimes for hours, sometimes even until I fell asleep.
Even then, what were they thinking about me?
Maybe they weren't thinking about me at all.
They didn't have a piano at their house, so they probably just came over to use mine.
Even then, with my eyes open, there were times when I wasn't even sure if we were friends.
But when I closed my eyes,
it felt like a concert just for me. - ↑
Actually, I get the feeling someone else I know has seen it, but, I just know that even if I asked them, I probably wouldn't get a straight answer XP ugh...
— Noelle, https://deltarune.com/rain/ - ↑
Then Kris points out at the courtroom and it goes “Objection!!” and hearts come out of their finger. Then they’re disbarred due to flirting with the witness…

— Toriel, if Kris leaves and returns home a second time, Chapter 1
Perhaps you can use some of that energy to wake up on time?

They were SO good, I ate like six!
Then I like... Suddenly got so sick I had to go home. - ↑

You must really miss him, huh? - ↑
