Spamton NEO, Chapter 2's Weird Route

The PuppetScarf (JP: パペットマフラー, romanized as Papetto Mafurā, meaning Puppet Muffler) is a scarf-type weapon that can be found in Chapter 2 of Deltarune.

Acquisition

The PuppetScarf is obtained after defeating Spamton NEO through FIGHTing. If Spamton NEO is defeated by ACTing, the Dealmaker is obtained instead.

Mechanics

The PuppetScarf can only be equipped to Ralsei. It gives +10 AT and -6 Magic, making it a stronger version of the Ragger2. As with other Shadow Crystal boss rewards, it cannot be sold to vendors.

The PuppetScarf is the strongest weapon Ralsei can be given during the first five Chapters, as its damage increase can make Ralsei's damage output on par with Kris and Susie. However, this comes at the expense of reducing the strength of all of his healing spells during encounters, instead relying around using items to heal the party, as Ralsei's Magic stat becomes too low to reasonably heal.

The BrokenScarf effectively replaces the PuppetScarf, as it provides +12 AT, +3 Magic and +3 Defense, giving it higher AT and Magic than the PuppetScarf with no downsides. However, the BrokenScarf cannot be used in any combat encounters so far, as it is obtained at the end of Chapter 5.

Additional uses

• In the Chapter 3 TV World Bonus Zone, the PuppetScarf temporarily leaves the inventory and becomes Spamton when Tenna retrieves a stray Pipis from the closet. On the Weird Route, this event does not occur.

Allusions

• Noelle's flavor text is likely a nod to her older sister Dess, who owned a guitar.

Trivia

• The PuppetScarf sprite shown in Chapter 3 resembles the wires that held up Spamton NEO.
• While normally it is only possible to own one copy of either the PuppetScarf or Dealmaker on the same SAVE file via standard gameplay, it is possible to obtain both items, or two PuppetScarfs, via a glitch.
• The PuppetScarf is the equipment that reduces the magic stat the most (4 more points fewer than the TennaTie).
