Equipment

From Deltarune Wiki

C'mon, angel! You can't get stronger without good equipment!

Addison, Chapter 2

Equipment (JP: 装備) are types of items that can be given to party members in Deltarune. There are two types of equipment: weapons and armor, which affect and modify their stats.

In Chapter 1, only 12 weapons and 12 armors can be held at once in the equipment inventory. From Chapter 2 onward, this increase to 48 for both. This tally can only be seen at a shop. Equipment can only be removed from the inventory by selling them at specific locations.

Equipping

Each party member can be given one weapon and two types of armor. Weapons cannot be removed without being replaced, but armors can be completely removed (except Susie's[1]). A party member always starts with a weapon equipped, so the weapon slot can never be empty.

The following weapon types for each party member are as follows:

Equipment can only changed from the Equip menu in the overworld, and cannot be changed during a battle. Only the equipment of present party members can be modified; if a party member leaves with equipment equipped, that equipment cannot be changed until they return to the party.

The given equipment can increase the user's Attack, Defense, and/or Magic. Weapons usually increase Attack, and armors usually increase Defense, although neither exclusively does so. Certain weapons can have additional benefits in the form of abilities, which can improve certain aspects of gameplay such as TP gain.

When Kris equips to or removes a party member's equipment, the recipient usually makes a comment.[2]

Abilities

Some equipment provides an ability. In many cases, these effects are purely aesthetic. If item does not give an ability, "(No ability.)" is shown.
