A vending machine in Chapter 3

Vending machines (JP: 自動販売機) are a recurring vendor in TV World, in Chapter 3 of Deltarune. They sell various items for either Dark Dollars or POINTs, and some allow selling items as well. A single vending machine also appears in Queen's Mansion during the Weird Route, right before the Fountain of the Cyber World.

Profile

Appearance

The vending machines have different appearance depending on the area, but they generally consist of the top area with visible items, a panel for picking items, and a dispensing area. They are decorated with two stars between the top area and dispensing area. The vending machine in the scrapped backstage area is turned upside down.

Shops

The vending machine from Queen's Mansion during the Weird Route only sells a single item, CD Bagels for 120 D$.

Main story

In Chapter 2's Weird Route, a single vending machine will show up in the area right after the GIGA Queen cutscene but before the library Fountain (and the fight against Spamton NEO). The only thing this vending machine sells are CD Bagels for 120 Dark Dollars.

In Chapter 3, the vending machines are spread out throughout the Green Room:

  • A vending machine in the main room, selling TV Dinners, DeluxeDinners, LodeStones, and GingerGuards in exchange for POINTs, until returning to the Green Room after Board 3, where it now only accepts Dark Dollars due to the devaluation of POINTs.
  • A reverse vending machine in the ABC-Rank rewards room, trading items for Dark Dollars.
  • A vending machine in the B-rank room that is used to play the ball machine (disappears aftergacharoom_unknown is exited).
  • A vending machine in the red carpet hall, selling ToxicAxe, Saber10, FlexScarf, and TVSlop.
  • A vending machine in the Star Changing Room, selling TVSlop and a "SMILE" (for 1 POINT, despite being labeled as "FREE"). The "SMILE" is rendered sold out upon the Sword Route's completion. It also allows exchanging Dark Dollars for POINTs, with the following exchange rates:
    • 50 Dark Dollars for 10 POINTs (5 D$/PT exchange rate)
    • 250 Dark Dollars for 60 POINTs (4.16 D$/PT exchange rate)
    • 1000 Dark Dollars for 250 POINTs (4 D$/PT)
  • A vending machine that appears in the ABC-Rank rewards room once Tenna's show is over (once the player returns from the south exit in the red carpet hall), replacing the Zapper that explains ranks and rewards to the player, this vending machine exchanges POINTs for Dark Dollars, with the following devalued exchange rates:
    • 50 POINTs for 50 Dark Dollars (1 D$/PT exchange rate)
    • 200 POINTs for 250 Dark Dollars (1.25 D$/PT exchange rate)
    • 1000 POINTs for 1500 Dark Dollars (1.5 D$/PT exchange rate)

Trivia

  • The "free" SMILE that can be purchased from the vending machine in the Star Changing Room may be based on the free smile available from the McDonald's Japan menu.[1] Wario Land 4 similarly has a free smile that can be purchased as a joke item that references the McDonald's free smile.
