The Angel (JP: 天使) is a higher being in Deltarune. It[1] is featured in the prophecy alongside the heroes, and is a central figure of Hometown's religion, both of which share the Delta Rune emblem. Apart from symbolism, there are also physical objects related to the Angel.
The Angel's full appearance is unknown to the player. Ralsei is somewhat aware of its form, and both Susie and Kris are discomforted by its offscreen visage in the angel glass tapestry.[2][3] Noelle has dressed up as the Angel for an event, where she wore small angel wings.[4][5]
In the prophecy, the Angel is described as having a desire that it will reach once it has been banished.[1] In Ralsei's synopsis, the phrase "ANGEL'S HEAVEN" is also used, though the exact details of this event are unknown.[6]
In Hometown's religion, the Angel is described as being akin to its namesake to an extent and is stated to be watching over the town's residents.[7][8] Alvin, the church's pastor, believes that the Angel's power can be a form of guidance for residents.[9][10]
In Chapter 1, the Angel is mentioned in Ralsei's synopsis, where he states that the three heroes, which he believes to be himself, Kris, and Susie, would banish it.[6][11]
In Hometown, Alvin can notice Kris not having anything to say, and hopes that the Angel's power can aid them.[12] Rudy's hospital room has an angel doll made by Noelle and Dess. Inspecting it causes Kris to be unsettled by it not having facial features,[13] and causes Rudy to recall how his daughters, Kris, and Asriel had made angel dolls during their childhood.[14]
In Chapter 2, two Darkners in Cyber City mention it or refers to someone as one in the Weird Route: the Addison who sells the FreezeRing refers to Noelle as an "angel".[15] Spamton mentions the Angel before he offers to sell the ThornRing.[16]
In Hometown, Alvin prays for the Angel to smile upon Alphys, who he recalls had replaced Gerson as a school teacher,[17] and hopes that the Angel watches after Kris.[7] In the hospital, Susie describes the faceless angel doll as "creepy".[18]
During Hometown's church service in Chapter 4, Catty's paraphrase of the reading loosely mentions the Angel.[19] Post service, Alvin can become concerned: he can suggest that Kris should avoid the shelter and look at the Angel for guidance,[9] or muse about Asgore's situation.[10]
While investigating Noelle's House, the wardrobe in Noelle's room has a pair of small, worn and tattered angel wings.[4] Noelle can reminisce about how she had dressed as the Angel for the Holiday Pageant, and admit her fondness for them.[5]
Later, when the SOUL floats into a Christmas tree, it falls and the angel doll topper lands on top of it, trapping the SOUL underneath it. While trapped, the SOUL can move the angel doll left or right until Noelle and Susie leave the SOUL alone.
In the Dark Sanctuaries, the unseen angel glass tapestry can be found in the 3rd Sanctuary, which the party reacts to.[2][3] An Organikk can also mention an angel.[20]
In Chapter 5, Alvin assumes the church's main hall being in disarray and the missing objects was due to the Angel.
Tasque Manager prays to the Angel, calling it a "Master of Chaos and Order."[21]
