Narration during the Titan Spawn encounter, Chapter 4
Titan Spawn[2] (JP: タイタンスポーン) are enemies found in Chapter 4 of Deltarune. They are first encountered in the Dark Sanctuary, where they act as hazards in rooms with winding paths and as threats hunting the party in dark maze rooms. Later on, they occasionally menace the party and provide obstacles during climbing challenges, until a pair are fought directly as minibosses in the 3rd Sanctuary, midway up the climb to the head of the Titan.
They are dark-element enemies,[3] and receive bonus damage when hit with the BlackShard.
Titan Spawn resemble embryos of an indeterminate species, and remain engulfed in darkness at all times.
As Titan Spawn are primarily produced by a Titan, they similarly seem to have no personality or consciousness above causing destruction and sustaining the Titan.

Titan Spawn first ambush and chase the party in the Lower Right of the Dark Sanctuary after reaching the end of the dark path. They disappear when the Old Man turns on the lights. After the party hits the button that reveals the last four notes to the golden piano puzzle, behind the money fountain, Titan Spawn ambush and chase the party again before disappearing when the Old Man turns on the lights.
After the Knight creates a Titan and the party unsuccessfully attempts to climb the stone pillar constituting its outer shell before it fully hatches, they end up fighting off multiple Titan Spawn on their way to try scaling the Titan again. Once the party resumes their climb, they are chased by a rising cloud of darkness full of Titan Spawn.
Titan Spawn's only attack involves spawning numerous miniature copies of themselves around the bullet board. These copies home in on the SOUL. However, during this battle, the SOUL begins to emit a glow that weakens the Spawn as they get closer to the light, eventually purifying them. An exception to this are bullets with a red outline, which appear alongside the Spawn copies on certain turns and are not affected by the glow.
- When Titan Spawn copies get fully purified, they drop COURAGE, which look like yellow pellets. Collecting these by getting close to them gives 1.6% TP each, doubling to 3.2% after four turns.
Titan Spawn cannot be spared normally; instead, using the Banish ACT for 64% TP immediately ends the battle. They can also be defeated violently (by FIGHTing or using Rude Buster), which increases the party's Stats counts in the same way as any other encounter defeated with violence. Rude Buster damage is halved against Titan Spawn.[4]
- This battle takes place in Darkness, reducing TP gain from normal means.
- Instead, the recommended way to gain TP is through collecting COURAGE from the enemy attacks.
- Although significantly less than normal, DEFEND still grants a small amount of TP, making it a good option if the effects of Brighten are not needed that turn.
- TP-increasing items are unaffected by darkness, making it possible to speed up the fight by using them. However, it may be beneficial to save them for the upcoming Titan battle.
This battle (alongside the battle against the Titan) has some unique ACTs:
- The Brighten ACT, costing 4% TP and using everyone's turn, enlarges the glow's radius, allowing the SOUL to purify the copies from farther away.
- The DualHeal ACT, costing 16% TP and using everyone's turn, heals the party by HP[5] to every party member. The multiplier is given according to the following table:
| DualHeal uses this battle | Multiplier | Total multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | 1.5 | 9 |
| 1 | 1 | 6 |
| 2 | 0.8 | 4.8 |
| 3 | 0.3 | 1.8 |
| 4+ | 0.2 | 1.2 |
- S-Action is replaced with WakeKris. If Kris is downed when it is used, they are revived with 1 HP.
- R-Action is replaced with ReviveKris, which costs 16% TP and heals Kris to a third of their max HP, or by half their max HP if they were not downed. (Rounded up.)
Kris's attacks with the BlackShard equipped deal 10 times more damage.
- [Check]
- A shard of fear. Appears in places of deep dark.
- Expose it to LIGHT... and gather COURAGE to gain TP.
- Then, "BANISH" it!
- Darkness constricts you... TP Gain reduced outside of ??? [Encounter]
- But, it was not something that can understand MERCY. [Attempting to spare]
- You hear your heart beating in your ears. [Neutral]
- When did you start being yourself? [Neutral]
- It sputtered in a voice like crushed glass. [Neutral]
- Ralsei mutters to himself to stay calm. [Neutral]
- Smells like adrenaline. [Neutral, 4% chance[6]]
- Kris's SOUL shone brighter! [Brighten]
- [DualHeal]
- [WakeKris]
- Susie used Wake Up!
- [Susie] Hey, dumbass! Get up! [First time WakeKris is used]
- (But, Kris wasn't DOWNed...) [If Kris not downed]
- Ralsei used Reviver! [ReviveKris]
- The atmosphere feels tense... (You can use BANISH!) [At 64% or more TP]
- Kris's SOUL emitted a brilliant light! [Banish]
- A miniature variant of Titan Spawn
- A red-colored variant of Titan Spawn
- A centipede variant of Titan Spawn, seen during the battle against the Titan
- An evolving variant of Titan Spawn, seen during the battle against the Titan
- A toothy variant of Titan Spawn, seen during the battle against the Titan
- An unused Everyman variant of Titan Spawn
- Kris climbing the Titan, being chased by a rising cloud of darkness full of Titan Spawn
- Titan Spawn, alongside Pipis, are the only enemies which can be killed via FIGHTing.
- Defeating a Titan Spawn violently instead of by banishing provides the same animation as defeating regular enemies with the SnowGrave spell, seen in early versions of Chapter 2's Weird Route.
- After battling the Titan Spawn in Chapter 4, Kris gains either a "Slain" or "Purify" counter as a special stat, depending on how the battle was resolved.
- If one Spawn is defeated through violence and the other through the Banish ACT, Kris's Power menu still displays "Purify: 2". If both Spawn are defeated by Susie or Ralsei, Kris's Power menu still displays "Slain: 2".
- The "Purify" stat may be a reference to OFF, one of the many inspirations for both Undertale and Deltarune.
- An unused sound effect for the Titan Spawn (
snd_generate) sounds similar to the sound effects used by the Amalgamates in Undertale. - Slaying a Titan Spawn causes Jackenstein to not be present in Chapter 5, even though the events that would cause Jackenstein to disappear in a violent route occur prior to first fighting Titan Spawn.
- Slaying Titan Spawn while not missing any recruits up until Chapter 5 still allows the blue Rudinn in Castle Town to state "Your Town's love is Moist." (instead of "Your Town's love is Cracked" which would be the case if a recruitable enemy is defeated violently).
