Church
The church (JP: きょうかい) is managed by Alvin, and is where Hometown's Lightners go for service in Deltarune. It is located at the lower end of the central road, left of Town Hall. The nearby west path leads to the graveyard.
The church building itself cannot be entered until Chapter 4, where it later houses the Dark Sanctuaries. Events are altered slightly via Chapter 2 Completion FILE if the Weird Route was pursued.
Years prior to Deltarune, the Dreemurr family often attended church service every Sunday,[1] and Toriel and Asriel sang in the choir.[2] One day, Asriel kissed Bratty, which allegedly caused Toriel to insist that they attend church every day for that week.[3]
Some time after Toriel and Asgore's divorce, he visits church at night to pray for his family, Rudy, and his flowers.[4] After Asriel left for college,[5] Kris eventually stopped participating in service, and only tries to drink the juice.[2]
At some point, the church's exterior was painted by the Royal Guards.[6]
In Chapter 4, Toriel takes Kris and Susie to church service, where she leads the choir consisting of Dad Cat, Snowy's father, Shyren, and Noelle.

In the hall, Kris and Susie sit at the far bottom-right pew. Kris can choose to sleep through the service or listen to it.
- Choosing to sleep through the service skips straight to Susie waking Kris.
- Watching service causes Susie to reason that Toriel may notice Kris sleeping.
As Catty recites the prophecy, Susie asks if Kris brought anything. They can choose to pay attention or look in their pocket for fun.
- Contrary to choosing to pay attention, neither of them do so. Susie mentions that she heard the rumor of how Kris and Catti tried to summon a demon when they were children. Kris also mentions the fruit juice for a reason to pay attention, to which she agrees on.
- If Kris looks through their pockets, Susie comments on Kris's Ball of Junk, which represents Kris's inventory and storage in the Dark World, and/or Kris's current sword/her current axe. This cutscene varies based on prior Chapters via multiple Completion FILEs. Under specific circumstances, Susie finds Asriel's letter in the jacket, which is of him trying to flirt with Catty.[7] Susie laughs and gives Kris the Ancient Chocolate she found in his jacket as a peace offering.

As Alvin is about to recite a sermon passage from Gerson,[8] Kris falls asleep. Susie eventually wakes them up and gives them a cup of "church-flavored" fruit juice, after which she goes to the table for more helpings. Susie asks Kris to ask around for clues surrounding the shelter.

Once Kris goes to Alphys with her favored drink,[9] they can either give it or drink it in front of her. The latter also causes Kris to toss the cup on the floor in front of Alphys. Afterwards, Alphys can be asked about the shelter. Kris can also interact with Noelle by inquiring about "Locked door", which supplies helpful information as well.
After gathering enough information, Susie has an idea. She praises Noelle's singing, and inquires if they can all work on their school project at Noelle's House. Realizing the situation, Noelle agrees without informing Carol.
At the front door, Toriel offers to take Kris and Susie to QC's Diner. She is interrupted by Asgore suddenly appearing from the nearby trees, who offers her flowers. Toriel excuses herself to return to the Dreemurr residence, and Asgore gives the flowers to Kris instead. After he leaves, the two shed their church clothes and Susie suggests they can either go to school or Noelle's House.
At some point after church service ended, the Knight created two Dark Fountains in the building, leading to the creation of the Dark Sanctuary and the 3rd Sanctuary.
After Susie and Kris visit Noelle's House, it starts to rain, forcing them to look for shelter. Due to being locked out of the Dreemurr residence, they visit the church again to ask Toriel for a key, as she was supposed to be at choir practice there at the time. Upon opening the doors, however, Susie discovers that a Dark World has manifested in the lobby. Susie and Kris enter the Dark Sanctuary out of worry that Toriel may be in danger and quickly find the Dark Fountain, although the Knight prevents them from sealing it by destroying the stairs and causing them to fall from a great height. After reuniting with Ralsei and traversing the Dark Sanctuary, the party encounters the Knight again. The latter escapes into a Great Door behind it, which is impossible to open. The party decides to seal the Fountain, leading to Kris and Susie ending up in the church's lobby. In the Light World, Susie and Kris discover that the Knight had made another Fountain in the church's hall.

Inspecting the hall's door reveals it to be locked by a 4-digit code. While Kris and Susie explore the church's storage and office rooms in search for the code, Susie learns that the Old Man she repeatedly met throughout the Dark Sanctuary was merely a Darkner reproduction of the deceased Gerson. This drives her to create a Dark Fountain of her own in the lobby in hopes of asking him the code, resulting in the creation of the 2nd Sanctuary. Though her initial plan fails, the party manages to learn the code - 2202 - from a Darkner created from the church's fire extinguisher. Sealing the 2nd Sanctuary Fountain once again leaves Kris and Susie in the church's lobby, where they unlock the hall's door to enter the 3rd Sanctuary.
After battling a Titan and successfully closing the 3rd Sanctuary Fountain, Kris and Susie end up in the hall, which has been demolished. Susie, upset at the party's failure to find Toriel or stop the Knight, leaves. Kris is then able to inspect the door behind the podium, though they refuse to open it.[10]
In Chapter 5, the church is Halloween themed and "haunted", and only the lobby is accessible. The juice is replaced with "haunted blood", which Kris and Susie can pour in each other's mouths, shocking Noelle. A haunted poem can be read from the door to the hall.
Alvin stands near the door to the hall of the church, asking to confide something in Kris. If Kris allows him to do so, he tells of how he found the lobby destroyed and how the sincerity of Susie's letter, written for Gerson, prompted him to begin writing his own sermons. When interacted with again, he says he believes the hall was destroyed by the Angel in "winds of great change". If Jackenstein is alive, he remarks on how a number of smaller items were taken (presumably by Kris and Susie), and states that "the Angel's ways are mysterious". If not, he says that the jack-o-lantern was severely damaged and questions the Angel's motive in doing so.
Catti mans a stand with a bowl of "eyeballs", which are grapes. Holding hands in the bowl is banned, which has little effect. Catti expresses her disdain toward Susie and tells Kris and Noelle that they should be an alliance. Kris has the choice to put everyone's hands in the bowl, which prompts additional dialogue from Noelle and Susie, who actually do so. Catti immediately disappears.
Kris can interact with a coffin, which prompts a mummy Vegetoid to pop out and scare Susie, who states she was just worried about Noelle. Noelle says she has complete knowledge of the horrors in the Church. After this, the top-left corner can be interacted with. If the player does so, Noelle remarks how there is nothing there. Alphys descends from the ceiling and says "Boo", shocking Noelle since she did not know of this surprise. Susie tells Kris to leave before Alphys realizes they hadn't started their projects.
Under certain conditions, Susie can tell Noelle that Kris is adept with the piano and that she wants to learn to play too sometime.
During Chapter 5's Weird Route, the church cannot be accessed, as Susie and Noelle were banned for holding hands in "the eyeball grape thing".[11]
The church's exterior is mainly green and sports colorful stained-glass windows, with the architecture resembling that of a Protestant church. At the top of its long spire is an orb with feathered wings, which is depicted in the Delta Rune emblem.
In Chapter 1, after sealing the Eastern Fountain in Card Kingdom, Kris can visit the church's front door. However, Alvin is in front of the doors. Kris can converse with him about "Fruit Juice", which causes him to ask Kris to partake in service in Asriel's stead.[2] Otherwise, Alvin understands and wishes Kris well.
In Chapter 2, Terry is in front of the door. Terry's dialogue references Undertale's Jerry. Beside Terry are also three varied Ice Caps, who are cheering for Terry. The Royal Guards are also on the building's right side as they admire their paint efforts for the church's exterior.[6]
In Chapter 4, after service, Kris's and Asriel's clothes can be inspected. Milklooker can temporarily be found near Town Hall after watching the Dreemurrs, and calls them a "freak family".

The lobby is the church's entrance area. It has a total of four doors: the church's entrance is south, the west door leads to the storage room, the north door leads to the hall, and the east room to the office.
On the left side of the room is a bookshelf containing hymnals, scriptures, and multiple copies of Lord of the Hammer. The holy water font can be inspected, though Susie notices a motion sensor above it which prevents drinking. It is unclear what happens when the sensor is triggered, though it may work as a cat deterrent.[12]
On the right side of the room is an altar for "hope candles", which are used to pray for someone and bear the names of Hometown residents on them.[13] Mounted on the wall is a fire extinguisher, which is later revealed to have a 4-digit code written on it.

The hall is the largest room in the church, and is where service takes place. At the center of the room are two sections of five rows of pews, to a total of ten pews, each with a storage for hymnals. Multiple long candlesticks are placed next to the pews and around the room. In the far north of the room, a giant organ stands in front of three stained glass window. On the right of the organ is a podium with a microphone, behind which is a closed door. A table with two big bowls of juice and cups is below the pews.
In Chapter 4, Kris and Susie enter the hall during service. After it ends, Kris can explore the area and ask about the shelter code. The giant organ can be inspected, which the narration indicates that Kris has not been motivated to play it in some time. At the far south is a large table that has red and yellow juice on top.
Kris can mix the red and yellow juices by 25% per inspection by checking the right side of the table. Selecting "Empty drink" resets the mix percent. At 100% of any mix, a name is given:
- 100% red: Blood Of Power.
- 75% red, 25% yellow: Sunset Requiem.
- 50% red, 50% yellow: Try This It's Orange Juice.
- 25% red, 75% yellow: Alphys's special combination required to question her.[9] No more juice can be made afterwards, and Susie compliments this combo. The juice's name is not mentioned in-game, though in the game files, it is described as "Dragon's Scar".
- 100% yellow: Mystic Nectar.
- Invalid ratios : Bepis Brew. Impossible to get in-game, but exists as a failsafe in the game files.
If Kris tries to add more juice after it is at 100%, the narration remarks that it is the "limits of your power". Susie can offer advice after finding information from either Noelle or Alphys. If Noelle was spoken to first, Susie mentions Ralsei, and that there is a lack of "glasses nerds" in the hall.
At the far north of the room, from left to right, is Mom Cat, Dad Cat, Catty, and Alvin. Mom Cat is proud of Dad Cat and Catty, Dad Cat tells Kris to ask Catty for advice. Catty admits she does not know, and suggests that Kris should converse with Noelle for advice.
Alvin is pleased to see Kris, and can be asked about three different topics. This includes the shelter, Asgore, and the sermon. He can emphasize that Kris should avoid the shelter, inform about Asgore praying at night,[4] and being self-conscious about his writing and tarnishing his father's work.[14]
In the pews from left to right, are Jockington, Ms. Boom, Shyren, and Bratty. Jockington admits he is clueless about codes, though he is in service as Catti's "Substitute Player". Ms. Boom discourages Kris from visiting the shelter, and can mention Berdly told her about Kris being able to "wavedash". Shyren offers no words, as she is drinking from a cup. Bratty admits she randomly decided to attend service, and insults Catty's reading. However, she wonders if Catty will go to QC's Diner later.
Southeast of the room, from left to right is Monster Kid, Snowy, Snowy's father, the Royal Guards, and Alphys. Monster Kid is generally discomforted by Susie, and their dialogue and reaction varies slightly depending if Kris overheard them at the shelter in Chapter 2. Snowy can be asked about the shelter, or Kris can choose to not laugh or laugh. For the latter, Snowy also wonders why Kris no longer spends time with them. Snowy's father reminds Kris to be considerate to Toriel, as she often mentions them to the choir. The Royal Guards admit that they mostly came for the juice. However, Royal Guard dragon notices Alphys appears thirsty.
Alphys coughs and is too intimidated by Susie to get her favored drink,[9] though Kris can make it for her. Afterwards, Alphys can be asked about the shelter, Undyne, or choose to yell out no. Alphys can recall seeing Undyne and Carol visiting the shelter, and that Undyne had invited her to go to church. If Kris gave the Box of Heart Candy to Alphys in Chapter 2, there is additional dialogue, where Kris can either mention the chocolates, or admit to taking a piece.
Southwest of the room, Toriel, Rudy, and Noelle can be found. Toriel informs she is catching up with Rudy. Rudy can be asked about Asgore, Noelle, or a Key. The former causes Rudy to converse with Toriel about the Flower King business, and that the Holidays are financially supporting it. Rudy can also compliment Noelle's singing, or jokingly reference the time when an inebriated Toriel threw a key lime pie at him.
Kris can compliment Noelle's singing, mention the locked door, or the key. Noelle becomes surprised at the sudden compliment, or can recall Carol keeps everything important at home, or assumes Kris stated that she sung off-key. If Kris has acquired enough information, no other topic can be selected, and Noelle becomes confused that Kris is so close to her.

The storage room cannot be entered at the beginning of Chapter 4, as Toriel and the rest of the choir are rehearsing inside.
After sealing the Dark Sanctuary Fountain, the room can be entered and inspected for clues. It is used to store musical items for the choir, such as a keyboard, bells and a metronome, has a wardrobe for choir robes, and a small closet filled with decorations and miscellaneous items. The room also contains a large, floral rug and a marked calendar, as well as a stool.
When inspected, the keyboard prompts Susie to tell a story of her trying to play the piano as a child.
The closet contains a chair, a jacket, and a jack-o'-lantern, and choosing to open it illuminates the room with a strike of lightning, scaring Susie. She then recognizes the closet's contents to be Jackenstein's Light World counterpart, though she notes that it is too big to be carried out of the church at the moment.[15]
Interacting with the bells presents the option to "Mess with them", though Susie thinks that it is inappropriate at the moment. Some of the bells turn into the Wicabel enemy found in the Dark Sanctuaries.

The office cannot be entered at the beginning of Chapter 4, as Susie does not want Toriel to see Kris and her breaking in, though she does plan to search it for codes to the shelter.[16]
After sealing the Dark Sanctuary Fountain, the room can be entered and inspected for clues. It belongs to Alvin and contains his office desk and chair, a bookcase, two shelves, a filing cabinet, a chair, an incense holder and small plaques on the wall.
When first entering the office, Susie searches through a drawer of the office desk, finding a glass case containing Gerson's dust, a picture of him and a small metal hammer inside. A lightning strike illuminates the room, and Susie realizes that the Old Man's Light World counterpart are the remains in the glass container. She then transcribes the Old Man's letter and leaves it on the desk for Alvin to find.
The filing cabinet and the bookshelf cannot be searched for the code, as Susie and Kris assume it would take too long. The bookshelf contains multiple copies of Lord of the Hammer as well as unlabelled notebooks.
The shelves contain food items such as a pitcher of water, juice and wafers. The wafers turn into the Wafer NPC, and the incense holder hanging from the ceiling represents the Balthizard enemy found in the Dark Sanctuaries.
The plaque behind the desk contains "the words of a famous writer" and reads:
"Hope comes to those who believe. And for those that cannot..."
"... May our hope shine so brightly..."
"... That they, too, may keep shelter from the dark."
- In Chapter 4, Blue Ears appears at one of the left pews in the service scene, but leaves before Kris wakes up.
- ↑ This causes a Revive item to disappear from Inventory/Storage. It is prioritized in this order: ReviveMint, ReviveDust, ReviveBrite.
