Addison, Chapter 2

Tea (JP: ティー) is a consumable in Chapter 2 of Deltarune, purchased for 100 D$ in Cyber City. A pink Addison sells the name-flavored tea based on who is currently in the party with Kris.

Tea is not available after defeating Spamton NEO or in the Weird Route, as the NPC which sells Tea does not appear.

The amount Tea heals and party responses vary depending on the tea name and who it is given to. Each character's own flavor heals them the least, and tastes like water to them.

In Chapter 3, any Tea carried over from Chapter 2 turns into RottenTea (JP: くさったティー), which only heals 10 HP.

The flavor and healing levels for each tea are different depending on the character the tea is based on and the character drinking the tea, which may have implications about the characters' relationships with each other.

• Kris, Susie, and Ralsei's teas all heal each other 120 HP (with the exception of Ralsei Tea to Kris), signifying their strong friendship.
  • Ralsei Tea to Kris being the exception implies that Kris may not be as close to Ralsei.
  • The increase in healing amount after comforting him likely signifies Kris growing closer to Ralsei.
• Noelle Tea heals Susie 120 HP, signifying Susie's friendship with Noelle.
• Susie Tea heals Noelle 400 HP, most likely due to Noelle's crush.
• Noelle and Ralsei do not know each other very well, so their Teas heal each other very little.
• Noelle's reaction to the Kris Tea could reference the fact that while Noelle is friends with Kris (the cinnamon taste), she sometimes questions their friendship (the strange aftertaste). It could also be a reference to the player's influence over Kris, which only Noelle seems to pick up on.

Trivia

• Susie's comment that Kris Tea tastes like apple juice is because of the apple-scented shampoo that Kris uses, which can be found in their bathroom. During the "APPLE" spelling puzzle, Susie remarks that she always wanted to take a bite out of Kris because their hair smelled like apples. When she visits the house later in the game, it is implied she drank some of the shampoo from the bathroom when she went to wash her hands.
• The concept of the teas may be a reference to Sideways Stories from Wayside School, specifically the chapter about Maurecia in which their teacher makes classmate-flavored ice cream which tastes different to each student, and their own-flavored ice cream tastes like "nothing" to them.
  • Toby Fox has commented on being a Wayside School fan during the Undertale 6th anniversary stream.
• The Tea turning into RottenTea that heals only 10 HP is similar to the "Fresh Milk" item from Mother 3, which turns into "Rotten Milk" if it remains in the inventory for five minutes, and also only heals 10 HP.
