Trefoil

The Trefoil (JP: トレフォイル) is an unused sword-type weapon in Chapter 1 of Deltarune. It can only be equipped by Kris. It gives +4 AT and the $ +5% ability, which increases the amount of Dark Dollars earned from encounters by 5%.

• That tacky thing? No! [When attempting to equip it to Susie]

• Okay! ...? What do you mean, unused!? [When attempting to equip it to Noelle]

While in the Light World, the Trefoil becomes the Lucky Pencil (JP: ラッキーエンピツ). Note that neither item is accessible in normal gameplay. The Lucky Pencil provides 1 AT, as do the other pencils.

Trivia

• "Trefoil" is another name for the common three-leafed clover, as well as symbols or figures with three lobes around a center point. It is thus a pun, as a foil is a type of sword used in fencing.
• The item ID of the Lucky Pencil, 7, is considered a lucky number in most parts of the world.
• A rapier is a type of a sword, historically used in fencing, explaining why only Kris can equip it.
• Kris is the only party member to not get 3 weapons in Chapter 1; also considering Noelle's general confusion about it being unused, it is possible that it was cut late into development.
