OddController
(...? Seems there's a controller fallen on the ground.)
Narration, Chapter 3
The OddController (JP: コントローラー? Controller?) is a Key Item in Chapter 3. It can be obtained by interacting with the Original Game in the backstage of the Green Room.
The OddController is one of the key components needed to complete the Sword Route, as it is required to play the games that lead to acquiring the Ice Key, Shelter Key, and finally the Shadow Mantle. As Kris boots up the Original Game, the screen turns blue and displays the text "NO CONTROLLER". Kris can then walk to the previous room and find the OddController lying on the ground. Upon picking it up and walking back into the room with the Original Game, Kris plugs in the OddController after the blue screen to start playing the game.
If the Sword Route has been pursued at least up to the point of obtaining the Ice Key, Kris plugs in the OddController for the first and second parental lock room puzzles, allowing for the usage of HERO_SWORD's sword.
The OddController's Light World counterpart is likely the "knockoff" controller Asriel used when playing video games with Kris, as seen under Asriel's bed in Chapter 1[1] and on the computer in Toriel's classroom in Chapter 2.[2][3]
- Finding the OddController in the backstage area
- The OddController's buttons being an "ugly pink and yellow" may indicate a connection to Spamton or FRIEND.
- The unused room
room_dw_b3bs_rouxls_laninaimplies that the item replaced Elnina's controller during development.
