Hookshot
The Hookshot is an unused item in The Legend of Tenna in Deltarune. It allows any character other than HERO_SCARF to fire a hook with a chain by pressing [CANCEL]. During the animation of using the hook, the user is immune to overworld hazards, and enemies stop in place.
The hook travels until it hits either a wall, water, an object that can be held with the Power Croissant, or an enemy. When the hook comes into contact with an enemy, it pulls the user towards the target. If on a raft and the hook hits a target, it will not pull the user towards it; instead, it will fly out of the user's hand and disappear when it hits the target.
When the hook comes into contact with a holdable object while playing as HERO_SWORD, or as HERO_AXE without the Power Croissant, it pulls the user towards the target. Otherwise, when playing as HERO_AXE with the Power Croissant, the Hookshot will instead pull the holdable object towards them.
If the hook is fired while the user is right next to a screen transition, the user becomes stuck in place; if the screen is exited, the user can move again, though the hook becomes stuck wherever the screen transition was, and the user cannot fire another hook.
- If the Hookshot is used when playing as Lancer in the room where the LancerCon is obtained, the hook will fire to the left, no matter what direction the player was facing and remain stuck at a wall, Lancer can use dig to move again though they can not fire another hook.[1]
- If the player exits the console in the room where the LancerCon is obtained after a hook is used, and enters a different console to collect another LancerCon, the player can fire another hook while the other hook is onscreen.[2] This can be repeated as many times the player wants as the player can return LancerCons to Lancer allowing for as many hooks as the player wants to be onscreen at the same time.[3]
- The hook bears a close resemblance to one of the unused images of the tail of hell prophecy panels.
