Mr. Elegance

From Deltarune Wiki

Woah there, horsie. Ponmen're scary, but all'n they're doin' is following the King.

Mr. Elegance, Chapter 1

Mr. Elegance (JP: ミスター・エレガンス) is a Darkner NPC from Card Kingdom, who can first be encountered at the Great Board.

Profile

Appearance

Mr. Elegance resembles the knight piece from chess, with a white horse's stylized head and neck, a ruff similar to Mr. Society's and no other clothing items. It is clarified that the two spots on his face are his nostrils and not his eyes, but that he can still see through them.

Personality

Mr. Elegance speaks with something resembling an American Western accent, dropping "g" from the end of words, but also adding "'n" to the ends of various words. He often calls Kris "horsie".

Etymology

Much like Mr. Society, Mr. Elegance's name appears to be an oxymoron, as his accent and demeanor would not be traditionally considered elegant.

Main story

Chapter 1

The party first meets Mr. Elegance at the Great Board. He provides them with information about Ponmen, stating that while they are scary, they are only following King, expressing dismay that the old boss of the Great Board's residents has also been reduced to King's peon.

Mr. Elegance next appears beside the shortcut door in the Forest. If the party has reached the door without talking to Jigsaw Joe, Mr. Elegance says that he and Mr. Society fixed the door by themselves and it might break because only the two of them worked on it. If the party interacted with Joe, he is also present, and Mr. Elegance is confident that the door will work correctly because the three of them worked on it together.

In the Chapter 1 epilogue, if the party did not win any battles through violence, Mr. Elegance is among the NPCs celebrating at Card Castle. He congratulates the party, saying that now "all us pieces can live in peaces", and that his nostrils cannot thank them enough.

Chapter 2

After Kris brings the Card Kingdom Darkners to Castle Town, Mr. Elegance can be found in the northwest corner of the Dummy's area. He pledges to fix the town up using nostril grease. If the party talks to Mr. Elegance after Mr. Society flees, he reassures the party that it is not their fault that Mr. Society left, and that he will return one day.

After returning from the Cyber World, Mr. Elegance has built up the beginnings of a checkerboard in the area, with several tiles already laid down in the corner. He mentions that the Ponmen will appreciate the new board.

Chapter 4

Mr. Elegance can be found in the enrichment enclosure being built next to Lancer's room, wearing a hardhat and helping with construction. He jokes about Mr. Society coming back if he builds an isolation chamber for him. The checkerboard that Mr. Elegance started in the training area is no longer present.

After reloading a save file after completing Chapter 4, Mr. Elegance can be seen alongside a few more Card Kingdom NPCs dancing to Lancer's tuba playing, but cannot be interacted with.

Chapter 5

Mr. Elegance can be found west of Castle Town, growing a small pine tree, hoping it makes Mr. Society come back from isolation, as well as to help Susie with her date with Noelle by providing the tree's scent.[1]

After the credits of Chapter 5, Mr. Elegance is shown helping Susie decorate Castle Town for Noelle's arrival.

Relationships

Mr. Society

Mr. Elegance appears to be friends with Mr. Society, with the two often appearing together during Chapter 1. He notices Mr. Society's departure during Chapter 2. During Chapter 4 he mentions wanting to build an isolation chamber for Mr. Society, and during Chapter 5 he plants a tree, hoping the farmland makes Mr. Society come back for a visit. This implies that Mr. Elegance values their friendship, and would like to see Mr. Society back.
