Spamton, Chapter 2

Spamton G. Spamton (JP: スパムトン G. スパムトン) is a Darkner who appears in Chapter 2 of Deltarune and the main antagonist in its portion of the Weird Route. In the Cyber World, he is encountered as a miniboss in Cyber City.

If Kris helps him access the basement of Queen's Mansion (either through the LoadedDisk or freezing Berdly), he transforms into Spamton NEO, which serves as the Shadow Crystal boss of Chapter 2 normally, and as the final boss on the Weird Route.

Shop

Spamton becomes a vendor if defeated via ACTing. His shop is far northwest in the Trash Zone.

Unlike other vendors, the pricing and item names in Spamton's shop appear dubious. Dark Dollars are referred to as "Kromer", and the prices for items fluctuate randomly every half second. He is also the only shopkeeper in Chapter 2 that Kris cannot sell items to, as the "SELL" option is replaced with "BUYMORE!!"

If an item is selected within half a second after entering the "Buy" menu, it sells for a consistent price - 100 D$ for KeyGen, 110 D$ for S.POISON, 2 D$ for BrokenSwd, and 100 D$ for FrayedBowtie.

Note that the timer for the randomization, as well as the prices, only resets if upon completely leaving and re-entering the shop. Backing out of the buy menu only pauses it. For each 10 times that prices are randomized, the price of KeyGen on the 10th roll will be 0-60 D$ instead of 0-49030 D$.

Profile

Appearance

Spamton is a diminutive ex-Addison with a large upper body, especially his head, and short legs. As with the Addisons, his colors consist of the default color palette in Microsoft Paint. The two colors of his glasses, in particular, are an exact match for the colors of the eyes of FRIEND.

Spamton has black hair that is slicked back, appearing similar to a pompadour, an elongated nose, red cheeks, and white skin. Spamton wears black-framed glasses with colored lens. Spamton's right lens is pink, and his left is yellow. However, it can fluctuate between the aforementioned colors. Sometimes, his black pupils are visible. Rarely, Spamton's lens can be replaced with video noise effects, with occasional blue tears. Spamton has the ability to increase the size of his head. Additionally, his face seemingly glitches sporadically. For his attire, Spamton wears a long-sleeved black V-neck suit, and nondescript white pants and shoes. The monochrome suit and colored glasses were adopted from copying Swatch's appearance.

Spamton's design seems to be based on a number of popular depictions of puppets, having the face and style of dress seen on classic ventriloquist dummies with a (non-enlarging) nose similar to Pinocchio's. This is also hinted at in his Spamton NEO form when he refers to himself as a puppet, and with the song A Real Boy!.

When Spamton was still an Addison, he had a clear white face, red suit, yellow tie, and slicked black hair. His topwear overall resembled Tenna's own outfit, potentially matching each other since they were once business partners. He did not wear glasses, revealing his closed eyes, much like other Addisons. In official artwork, such as the "Mona Spamton" on the Spamton Sweepstakes, his closed eyes are also visible underneath his glasses.

While all Addisons are approximately the same height, Spamton is slightly shorter. Since it is possible to shrink by submerging oneself in the lake of acid at Queen's Mansion, and Spamton has seemingly implied that he once swam in it, he may have been the appropriate height for an Addison in the past. However, in the Spamton Sweepstakes, Spamton claims that he was always a little shorter than the other Addisons.

Personality

Spamton was once a natural salesman, always willing to cut a deal. While he still bears a shadow of these traits, his deals are now often senseless or violent. He claims that he became a salesman not for the money, but for the freedom to make his own deals. Despite this, he still attempts to scam Kris for money (which he refers to as "Kromer") at every opportunity.

In much of his dialogue, he seems desperate and mentally unstable, seemingly projecting himself onto Kris, contradicting himself, and saying things which make little sense. This instability seems to clear up briefly after fighting him in his NEO form, as he wishes the party success with their journey in clean and proper English.

Speech pattern

Spamton's speech patterns are similar to typical obfuscated spam email text, with many words replaced with non sequitur variants in square brackets that could imply incorrectly-applied mail merge variables or hyperlinks, or various voice glitches.

Spamton consistently spells "generosity" as "genorisity", "guarantee" as "guaranttee", "delicious" as "delicis", and "special" as "specil", with an exception for the latter at the end of the Spamton NEO battle after snapping all the wires.

Spamton usually replaces words and parts of his sentences with words and phrases from infomercials, ads, and from other places in the internet, that are surrounded by one or two brackets. They sometimes are just around one word, but sometimes are longer phrases. He will occasionally replace "e"s with "3"s, "s"s with "5"s or "o"s and "O"s with "0"s. Sometimes his speech is censored with "[Hyperlink Blocked]" or random symbols. He is seen to sometimes cut himself off, with a large gap between the last spoken word, and either the next word or the punctuation, similar to Starwalker. He also rarely will start stuttering, and repeat a short phrase multiple times.

Twice in-game, Spamton mentions the made-up word "cungadero", which is potentially a reference to The Simpsons joke, "Canyonero". One of Spamton's lines and the Spamton Q&A imply a "cungadero" is a vehicle; the Fangamer Spamton's SPECIL Fun Pak!!! outright depicts Spamton driving a red car that he calls a "Cungadero". This is further demonstrated by the "Cungadero Crossing" sign given away during the Spamton Sweepstakes. The word may have been a corruption of "Cowabunga-dero", an exclamation used by Tenna.

Spamton rarely speaks with entirely normal grammar and capitalization, primarily doing so in the cutscene after defeating Spamton NEO outside the Weird Route, but also very briefly in his shop dialogue. The Addisons that explain Spamton's backstory after defeating Spamton NEO also quote him as having regular speech, which may imply that his typical speech pattern only developed after his fall from grace.

In the Japanese translation of Deltarune, Spamton's speech quirk mixes kanji, hiragana, katakana, and Roman text. He frequently mixes half-width and full-width katakana, misspells words using similar looking characters (for example, "ﾁｬｿｽ" instead of "ﾁｬﾝｽ"), and produces several puns based around the concept of death. Spamton often replaces instances of "desu" (です) and "dai" (だい) with the English words "death" and "die" respectively, both of which being rendered in Latin text. Spamton formats the first-person pronoun "watakushi" as "ワタ94", a goroawase pun playing on possible pronunciations for the numbers nine and four in Japanese.

Etymology

"Spamton" is derived from "spam mail", undesirable emails that typically contain advertisements or scams, as well as the common name suffix "-ton", seen in surnames such as "Hampton". His name is also an anagram of "postman", fitting with his email theming. Additionally, Spamton's name ends in the same syllable as that of Mettaton, who he has similarities to and whose body he uses.

Main story

History

Some time before Kris and Susie entered the Cyber World, Spamton existed as an unsuccessful spam email Addison, overlooked by Lightners and never able to catch a break. Despite his lack of success, he always proclaimed to his fellow Addisons that he would be a "big shot" one day.

Desperate, Spamton began looking for any way to become more popular. Eventually, he came into contact via phone with someone who could help him, and suddenly became wildly successful. From that point on, Spamton was "on the phone all the time", being aided by an unknown person. His fellow Addisons grew jealous of him for his sudden success, and stopped going out with him. His success landed him his own room at Queen's Mansion, and he began to brag more and more about his deals, ranging from TV commercials to cars.

During this era of success, he became Tenna's business partner. Desperate to learn his secret for becoming "big", Tenna gave him all his life advice and offered to put him on TV and make him a star in exchange. He also hoped Spamton would teach him how to use technology. Mike warned Tenna that something "terrible" would happen if Spamton signed the contract agreeing to give this secret, but Tenna continued to persuade him and Spamton eventually agreed to sign the deal. During the signing, he answered a phone call and ran out of the room with his face pale, leaving the phone hanging. Tenna picked up the phone hoping to learn his secret, but could not hear anyone in the receiver.

As sudden as his success came about, it came crashing down. The stranger helping Spamton vanished, and all of his sales went with them. Desperate again, Spamton started spending all of his time "praying" in the basement, where he found a "crystal in [an] old machine" and became obsessed with an "artifact" (the artifact either being the machine or the crystal itself). The machine was created by an unknown Lightner (presumably the nobody) with the help of Swatch and was a digital visualization of their hopes and dreams. However, those dreams never came to be, and the machine was abandoned in the basement with the rest of the corrupted data.

With nothing left, Spamton was to be evicted from Queen's Mansion. On the day of his eviction, one of the Addisons went to visit him, but found he was already gone, his phone hanging off the handle. Spamton presumably left in the middle of a conversation, as the Addison could hear someone on the other end, but after putting the phone to their ear it only emitted "garbage noise".

Abandoned by all of his friends, Spamton was reduced to living in a dumpster in a Cyber City alleyway. Despite his fall from grace, the Color Cafe in Queen's Mansion continued to sell his trademark bowtie, albeit with the brand name cut off.

At some point, Spamton attempted to impersonate Swatch by mimicking his monochrome suit and colored glasses, in order to obtain something (presumed to be the NEO machine). Additionally, somebody (presumed to be Spamton) attempted to commission Sweet Cap'n Cakes to sneak into Queen's Mansion (presumably to grant him access to the machine), but they declined; Spamton later convinces Kris to do likewise.

After asking him about friends, he brings up Mike, one of Tenna's assistants. When talking about Mike, Spamton initially seems dismissive of him, then sad, and finally tells Kris not to trust what they hear on TV because "THE MAN'S A CRIMINAL". Spamton also exclaims "ARE YOU GETTING ALL THIS [Mike]!?" at the end of his NEO fight if he is defeated violently, implying Mike may have recorded for Spamton in some capacity in the past, possibly on Tenna's TV Time.

Chapter 2

After driving in Queen's car through a portion of Cyber City, Kris walks through an alley to press the button on the other side of the road. As Kris approaches the dumpster, Spamton opens the lid and loudly introduces himself. He notices Kris, acknowledges they are alone, and assumes they were abandoned by their friends. Spamton then offers Kris a deal, and asks them to show him their SOUL before initiating an encounter.

If Spamton was spared, he mentions that he will be waiting at his shop in the Trash Zone, and asks Kris to come alone before leaving. Otherwise, Spamton rebukes Kris for FIGHTing, and alludes to the ThornRing before leaving, though he does not return to his shop.

Once the shortcut door becomes functional, Kris can optionally inquire the Addisons in Cyber City about Spamton. Kris can also return to the Trash Zone and converse with Spamton about their deal, Spamton himself, the Knight, or fear. If Kris inquires about the Knight, they can ask about Spamton's friends. Upon leaving the shop, Spamton reminds Kris that they must go to the basement in Queen's Mansion.

When Kris returns with the EmptyDisk, Spamton praises Kris, and insists they give him the Disk. He emphasizes the importance of returning it back to where they obtained it, and guarantees he will "[[Pass My Savings Onto You!]]", though he warns that his shop will also be permanently closed. Once this occurs, the item becomes the LoadedDisk, and Dialtone plays slower in his former shop.

Reinserting the LoadedDisk into the old machine leads to an encounter against Spamton NEO. After Spamton NEO is defeated, Spamton reverts to his normal form, though he still continues to hang from vines. In this state, Spamton is noticeably calmer and lucid, lamenting how he could not become anything more than a puppet. He compliments the party's strength and wishes them well, then transforms into the either the Dealmaker or PuppetScarf, depending on how Spamton NEO was defeated. If Kris's 48 weapon/armor inventory is full, Spamton becomes irate and offended, and regains his usual style of speaking.

Afterwards, Kris can find the Addisons nearby Spamton's shop in the Trash Zone. They reminisce about their history with him.

After sealing the Dark Fountain in the library, a Light World computer near the recycling bin can be inspected. It changes depending if Kris has fought Spamton NEO or not. If Spamton NEO was encountered, this computer crashes with a blue screen. If Spamton NEO was not encountered, it only says that someone tried to check their email, but the Internet is down. The nearby recycling bin is filled with spam email printouts, possibly representing Spamton's shop in the Trash Zone or his "home" in the dumpster.

On the Weird Route, interacting with the dog dumpster prompts Spamton to state how many enemies remain to be frozen by Noelle. After the counter is exhausted, Spamton sells Kris and Noelle the ThornRing, which must be bought for 1997 Kromer (or D$) in order to continue the route. He then takes advantage of the fleeing enemies to take over Queen's Mansion, which he fills with Pipis and paintings of himself.

At the top of the mansion, after bypassing Queen, Kris attempts to seal the library Fountain. However, they are stopped by Spamton, who has achieved his NEO form in the ensuing chaos. He battles Kris out of a desire to remain in control of the Cyber World, but is frozen after the player calls for Noelle to assist them in the climax. The PuppetScarf and a Shadow Crystal are added to the inventory for beating him on this route. Given his absence in the optional cutscene of the following Chapter, it is heavily implied that he dies in this encounter.

Chapter 3

Spamton's only direct appearance in Chapter 3 comes in the form of a short sequence at the Bonus Zone, if the party has obtained the Dealmaker or PuppetScarf from Chapter 2 outside of the Weird Route.

If these criteria are met and they open the drawer with a Pipis, Tenna laments that his secret will be exposed and expresses his wish that anyone would be there for him — even "that little mailman". Upon hearing this, Spamton emerges from the party's inventory, enthusiastic that Tenna "REALLY [DOES] CARE!!!". However, Tenna panics upon seeing Spamton, calling him a rat or creature, apparently not recognizing him. Perceiving Spamton a threat to the Pipis, Tenna sprays him with foam and runs away to protect it. Spamton then tells Kris he is "NEVER [Doing that] AGAIN" and returns to the inventory.

Relationships

Swatch

Swatch alludes that Spamton imitated his appearance in order to gain something. Spamton's slick black hair, multicolored glasses, pointy white face and black suit are noticeably similar to Swatch's outfit.

Jevil

Spamton is implied to perceive Jevil as a rival, and claims he has higher ambitions than the latter. However, Spamton is also indicated to have feared him, as he refused to have a public merry-go-round be built.

Tenna

According to the NPC replica of Tenna in the Original Game, the two were once business partners, with Tenna giving Spamton "life advice" and planning to make him a TV star. In exchange, Tenna asked Spamton to teach him how to use technology and the secret to making it big. However, right when Spamton was signing the deal to share this secret to Tenna, he received a phone call that caused him to flee in fear. It is implied that Spamton's deal with Tenna was the reason the former's mysterious benefactor abandoned him, leading to his downfall. Spamton makes several indirect references to Tenna, calling him a "CRIMINAL" and accusing him of "[$!$!] ME OVER RIGHT AT THE [Good part]".

Tenna felt betrayed and angry at Spamton's apparent abandonment, calling him his "worst hater". However, it is implied that he still cared for him, as he secretly kept a Pipis hidden away in a drawer. In Chapter 3, Spamton appears enthusiastic after seeing Tenna's reaction to his Pipis being exposed from its drawer. However, Tenna does not recognize him and sprays him with foam in a misguided attempt to protect the Pipis, preventing the two from reconciling.

Spamton and Tenna share speech quirks. Spamton's tendency to talk with phrases and words in brackets is similar to Tenna's use of graphic text in his dialogue. Some of Spamton's nonsensical and non-sequitur lines also seem to be warped versions of quotes from the latter. In the Japanese translation, Spamton replaces "です" (desu) with "DEATH" and "だい" (dai) with "DIE", rendered in Latin text, and Tenna frequently replaces "しょう" (shou) with "SHOW".

Mike

In Spamton's shop, after asking him about friends, he brings up Mike, who appears to be one of Tenna's assistants. When talking about Mike, Spamton initially seems dismissive of him, then sad, and finally tells Kris not to trust what they hear on TV because "THE MAN'S A CRIMINAL". However, due to him stating that "EVERYONE IS GOING TO PAY (...) EVERYONE EXCEPT... ... Mike..." in the Spamton Sweepstakes, and his hatred of Tenna, this was likely referring to Tenna, who he just thought of when thinking about Mike. Spamton also exclaims "ARE YOU GETTING ALL THIS [Mike]!?" at the end of his NEO fight if he is defeated violently, implying that Mike may have recorded for Spamton in some capacity in the past, possibly on Tenna's TV Time.

Mike cared about Spamton, and Tenna thinks Mike has been acting differently since Spamton left, as if Mike was "not really there" implying that the real Mike may have left Tenna after Spamton left him.

Creation and development

The ISSUE 7 - Autumn 2024 of the Newsletter revealed that a character named Mad Mailer was originally planned but scrapped due to similarities with Spamton. Many of Mad Mailer's design elements seem to have influenced Spamton's appearance.

The spritework for Spamton's shopkeeper dialogue sprites and his shop was done by puppiesandanime. Shawn had closely followed Toby Fox's concept art.

Splendidland's Twitter features unused concept art of Spamton's house as she imagined it, a junk heap of e-mails and deleted icons.

Spamton's intro song, HEY EVERY !, was planned to be his shop theme. It was intended to drop in pitch the longer Kris stayed in the shop until it was unrecognizable. However, it did not match the tone of the dialogue, and thus it was scrapped and replaced with Dialtone.

The art of Spamton's head cameos in the Monster Movie minigame as its final boss, though the eyes are censored. The drawing was initially shared by Toby on his Twitter on December 25, 2021.

Outside of Deltarune

Spamton Sweepstakes

Spamton was the face of the Spamton Sweepstakes charity/auction campaign, found on the official Deltarune website. It offered Spamton-themed/Chapter 2 themed rewards, pre-Deltarune anecdotes, and Chapter 3 teasers. Spamton's Q&A was also sporadically offered, where he answered a total of thirty-one randomly selected questions.

Spamton references two of Noelle's blog posts, /egg/ and /bluecircle/. For the latter, Spamton answers that he only gave Noelle a Pipis as a reward for reading his emails. Additionally, Spamton seemingly alludes to the hidden music file, findher, which is associated with Dess.

In the Q&A, Spamton confirms his current appearance is an imitation of Swatch, and implies he once had a close friendship with him. However, Swatch listened to Queen and let him get evicted.

Spamton also implies he originally played "games" with Jevil, and had at some point resorted to trying to cheat to win one of these "games". However, he was unsuccessful. The quote "[$#&* the ketchup kids]" references a meme addressed to one's ex, possibly implying such a relationship between Spamton and Jevil.

In one of the links found via the link maze, it is shown that Spamton greatly resents Tenna, blaming him for his current state and claiming that "EVERYTHING IS HIS FAULT".

Newsletter

In the ISSUE 5 - Winter 2024 of the Newsletter, three random Valentine's Day cards were included in the email version of the Newsletter. Spamton has a total of three different Valentines, with two being common, and one is rare.

The first is a common card. Spamton begs and attempts to use a saying to get inside the recipient's house. The second is rare, and is of Spamton being angry at the recipient for changing their "[credit card numbers]" without telling him. The third is seemingly a common card detailing a hostage situation. It is for a mother and father, and includes "military documents from the BlamThunder Forums" along with the "LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.TXT.vbs" attachment. The third card is a reference to numerous War Thunder players leaking classified military documents on the game's official forums.

On the second Valentine's card, the last paragraph is very similar to what Tenna says when Susie declines the bonus round, which was likely foreshadowing for the moment.

Spamton also appears at the end of the SPAMTON LOVE NETWORK, which is a video created for Valentine's Day.

UNDERTALE 10th Anniversary Stream

At one point during the UNDERTALE 10th Anniversary Stream, the hosts of the stream pause their playthrough of Undertale and vacate the room for a lunch break. They leave the television unattended, as the game idles on the scene prior to Sans taking the protagonist to Grillby's. Spamton A. Spamton from the Spamton Sweepstakes emerges from a small and slimy Spamton G. Spamton-shaped hole in the wall and turns human-sized. He shoves an oversized pink-and-yellow floppy disk into the TV and resumes the playthrough where the hosts left off.

Within the game, Sans and the protagonist reach Grillby's, where the track sans. plays before slowly fading to silence. Spamton G. Spamton's voicebyte is heard in place of Sans's, and the dialogue consists of Spamton introducing himself. He abruptly replaces Sans and laughs. The track Spamton begins to play, and Spamton claims he will help the protagonist achieve the charity goal incentives. The duo make their way towards the counter, with the NPCs treating Spamton as if he was Sans. After a question from Ugly Fish, Spamton's head becomes large and teleports next to him, floating like a rocket. He insults Ugly Fish, then turns back to normal.

When the protagonist and Spamton sit down at the counter, Spamton activates a whoopee cushion and laughs, unsure who left it there. Spamton asks if the protagonist would prefer "Fries" or "Burger", and "Fries" is selected due to it being the winning charity goal. He seems upset by the choice, but nevertheless proceeds to vertically extend his jaw and eat a large single fry like a wood chipper as a jarring sound plays. He becomes incredulous at the idea of having to eat the "ketchup kids" next. Between "Ketchup" and "Catsup", the protagonist selects "Catsup", the winning charity goal, which causes Spamton to look around while asking "CAT... ['sup?]" His expression darkens and he looks downward before describing his interpretation of catsup's origin. While initially reluctant, he agrees to play along since they are raising money for charity, and sprays his face with a bottle of catsup.

Spamton asks the protagonist if they think his brother Spamton is cool or not, with the only two choices being "Cool". He agrees with their choice and elaborates on his own prowess. He then recites his backstory, which overlaps with the story Sans normally tells about Papyrus to a minor extent. When the spotlight shines on Spamton and the protagonist, he begs them to give the charity money to him and to pay the bill for the meal. He implies that he will attack them otherwise, and that he deserves the help due to suffering personal damage from a certain "CRT".

The spotlight disappears, and Spamton asks if he is currently being displayed on a TV. He laughs maniacally and calls the protagonist disgusting multiple times, before the screen transitions to black. After the scene ends, Spamton A. Spamton throws the controller to the ground and turns into a paper cup.

Attacks

• Money Vacuum: Spamton's face expands and his mouth opens as he inhales dollar signs into his mouth and changes the bullet board's shape. The SOUL gets dragged to the right as well.
• Minitons: Spamton's face expands and releases several miniature copies of himself that run along the top and bottom parts of the bullet board. When one gets close to the SOUL, it jumps up in an attempt to attack it.
• Word Bullets: Spamton's face expands and releases strings of letters that enlarge as they get closer to the other side of the bullet board. The words either move in a sine wave pattern or up or down. The words that are spelt out include:

  • BARGAIN$

Strategy

Kris has two ACTs during this fight:

• Deal, which makes Spamton offer a deal.
• HealDeal, costing 50% TP. It asks for a deal in the same way as Deal, but additionally heals 60 HP.

To spare Spamton, one has to engage in his deals after using one of the above ACTs without giving him money. The correct options are:

• TELL ME MORE
• DON'T GIVE
• TAKE DEAL
• DON'T BUY
• REFUSE
• YES DEAL (Happens immediately after correctly selecting a fifth time, selecting "NO DEAL" fails and repeats the prompt)

Selecting the wrong options on the second, fourth, and fifth deals will immediately remove 25 D$, from the player, as implied by the text. This is not reflected in the end of battle text. This will not reduce the player's D$ below 0.

The Minitons attack can be evaded by moving left and right in the middle of the bullet board.

Miniature angel Spamton

As ambiguously implied from Spamton's dialogue, pressing F1 summons a small Spamton angel that heals the SOUL for 50% HP. This only works once, and cannot be done in the middle of one of Spamton's attacks.

This keybind is set to right stick on the Switch and R3 on the PS4. Alternatively, F1 can still be used on console if a keyboard is connected.

Quotes

Pre-battle

• Spamton has an obsession with the number 1997, describing it as his favorite year, and occasionally mentions Mike. These may be references to a 1997 commercial for "Big Shot" soda featuring then-New Orleans Saints Head Coach Mike Ditka, due to Spamton's association with the phrase "BIG SHOT".
• Spamton consistently calls Dark Dollars "Kromer", which is likely a misspelling of "Krone/Krone" (plural: Kroner) and "Krona" (plural: Kronor), the basic units of currency in Norway, Denmark, and Sweden.
  • The misspelling may also be a nod to Spamton's visual resemblance to Billy the Puppet from Saw, as Jigsaw's last name is "Kramer".

Covered Spamton poster

• To the right of the dumpster where Spamton is first encountered, there is a torn "Queen Clean!" poster, with another poster behind it displaying what appears to be Spamton's likeness, but without the glasses. Interacting with the poster reveals that it reads "Big Shot Autos!", implying that Spamton was a car salesman at some point, either as the face of a company or running his own.
• The black telephone in the back of Spamton's shop heavily resembles the telephones seen in EarthBound, which the protagonist, Ness, uses to call his unseen father throughout the game. Its appearance in Spamton's shop is likely one of many references to EarthBound, one of Toby Fox's favorite games.
• The constantly fluctuating prices of Spamton's wares appear to be a parody of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.
• Spamton has one uncapitalized line of shop dialogue - "... can anyone hear me? Help..." - that is sandwiched between other lines where his speech is capitalized as normal. The line resembles a part of the "UNUSED" text found in the files of Chapter 1 ("Someone!? Anyone!? Can anyone hear me?"), with the Japanese version of Spamton's line being a direct match. Spamton then says he did not hear anything but that "IT SOUNDED LIKE THEY WERE TALKING TO YOU." This implies that someone or something else was speaking through him at that moment.
• Spamton's dialogue after being asked about the "KNIGHT" ("TOO MANY EXCESS VACATION DAYS?? TAKE A GOD DAMN VACATION STRAIGHT TO HELL") references Burgerpants's "Threaten" dialogue from Undertale's Genocide Route ("I can't go to hell. I'm all out of vacation days.").
• Selecting "OUR DEAL" again after obtaining KeyGen makes Spamton's face flash a rainbow hue, and the background music is replaced with KEYGEN. This is a reference to the YouTube Poop [YTP] The King Downloads Sony Vegas, in which King Harkinian from Link: The Faces of Evil begins rapidly flashing colors upon running a keygen for Sony Vegas. Additionally, KEYGEN sounds similar to the keygen music that plays in the background of the video ("Unreal Superhero 3" by Kenet & Rez), mimicking the opening few seconds of the song.
• The final offer for transferring Spamton onto the EmptyDisk is a reference to programs that downloaded usually unwanted software onto a computer while hiding the option to refuse said software in hard-to-see places, hence the big "TRANSFER" and small "DO NOT" respectively.
