Snowy, Chapter 1

Snowy (JP: ライちゃん Rai-chan) is a returning character in Deltarune. He is one of Kris's classmates at Hometown's school, where he sits to Susie's right and in front of Monster Kid.

Profile

Appearance

Snowy's face is shaped to resemble a snowflake, with feathers sticking out along the sides. A white snowflake-like crest is present across his face, and his beak lies underneath. His entire body is blue, save for his beak, eyes, underbelly, and feet, all of which are yellow. Snowy wears a pink bowtie on his chest.

Personality

Snowy has a tendency to make puns and jokes, much to the annoyance of his peers. He often acts condescending towards others and makes fun of Kris for their perceived misfortune. Despite this, Snowy seems desperate for approval, acting pleased when Kris laughs at one of his puns.

Main story

History

Snowy's mother, Crystal, died prior to the events of Deltarune and was buried in the town's graveyard. At some point, Monster Kid, Jockington and Snowy became friends and played games such as handball together, despite none of them having arms. Snowy, along with other students in Alphys's class, grew to dislike Susie and is scared of her by the start of Deltarune.

Chapter 1

In Chapter 1, Snowy is present in Alphys's classroom. While Kris is searching for a partner for their group project, Snowy tells them a cowboy joke, though Kris is not amused. Snowy then rudely tells Kris that he already has a partner. Interacting a second time causes Snowy to gloat that he has a good partner, and emphasizes he is funny. However, Monster Kid expresses irritation at Snowy repeatedly telling cowboy jokes.

After Susie leaves the classroom, Kris can talk to Snowy. He attempts and fails to be reassuring, and mentions that Susie will not be of any help on their project. If Kris talks with him again, Snowy asks Kris if he can have Asriel's CDs in the event of their death.

If Kris knocks on Snowy's apartment door, Snowy's father assumes that Snowy is knocking. He admonishes Snowy for knocking the door so hard, saying that it will hurt his face since he lacks arms to knock with.

After school, Snowy can be found with Monster Kid outside of his apartment. He tells Kris that it is unfair that they got to skip class with Alphys and later states that his father would "never let [him] hear the end of it" if he did the same.

Chapter 2

In Chapter 2, Snowy is again present in the classroom. After school, Snowy and Monster Kid stand in front of the door to the shelter, speculating about what could be inside. They both flee when Susie overhears Snowy making fun of Kris.

Chapter 4

In Chapter 4, Snowy is present at church, drinking fruit juice together with Monster Kid from a single cup. He cracks jokes at Kris, to which they can respond by laughing or not laughing. After church service, he can be seen in the graveyard with his father, mourning his mother in front of her grave, during which he refuses to talk to Kris.

Monster Kid is Snowy's friend and classmate. They are partners in the group project together, although Monster Kid states that they would rather have partnered up with Kris, had they shown up to school on time. Snowy is shown to frequently tell jokes to Monster Kid, much to their annoyance and irritation. Despite this, they frequently spend time together both in school and outside of school. In Chapter 4, Snowy and Monster Kid are seen drinking from the same glass of juice together at the church, implying they are close.

Kris

Kris is Snowy's classmate. Not much is known about Snowy's relationship with Kris, but he seems to value their approval, reacting negatively when they do not appreciate his jokes. If Kris laughs at his joke at church in Chapter 4, he wonders why the two do not hang out more. In Chapter 2, when Snowy and Monster Kid are investigating the shelter together, Snowy calls Kris a "weenie", which Monster Kid later apologizes for if spoken to at the church.

Snowy's parents

Snowy appears to have a close relationship with his parents, going to church together with his father and visiting his mother's grave with him. When Kris attempts to speak to Snowy while he is visiting his mother's grave, he politely tells them not to bother him, which means he may be praying or contemplating.

Snowy's father is strict with him. He yells at him when he believes Snowy is knocking on the door with his face, and Snowy remarks that his father would scold him if he skipped school.

Outside of Deltarune

In Undertale, Snowdrake first appears an enemy in Snowdin, having run away from his home due to his mother's absence and strained relationship with his father. If the protagonist spares him, Snowdrake reappears as an NPC near Papyrus's sentry station.
