Ball, Chapter 1
Ball (JP: ただのボール ordinary ball) is a Darkner the party can find in the Forest during Chapter 1 of Deltarune. It relocates to Castle Town after the Eastern Fountain is sealed.
In Chapter 5, it becomes a member of the Trashy Trio, an optional boss.
Ball is a small, shiny, pink ball. It has three blue markings the side of its face, which are arranged to resemble a visual depiction of being crestfallen. Its eyes are constantly closed.
Ball's dialogue is succinct, but it thinks lowly of itself. It is intimidated when moving to somewhere new, but is appreciative of new friends.
In Chapter 1, Ball is initially seen past the entrance to Forest, in a room to the north of the first hazard area. Along with the Royal Coat Rack, it guards the chest that contains the Ragger. Upon interaction, it mumbles that it is just a little ball and does not want to discuss anything.
If the party gets past King without harming anyone, Ball is among the celebrants at Card Castle afterward, and says that even a little ball "can say something like 'thank you.'". The Royal Coat Rack again accompanies Ball, and their juxtaposition suggests that Ball represents the bouncing ball in jacks.
In Chapter 2, Ball appears in front of Ralsei's castle, where it remarks that moving to a new place is a bit scary. If Nubert has come to Castle Town, he lends it his wig.
In Chapter 4, Ball appears near the Great Door, donning a pair of Bloxer legs and a hat. It notes it has become "more well-rounded than ever before" thanks to its new friends.
The exact nature of its hat varies depending on the player's recruits. If the player has obtained all recruits in Chapter 2, it continues to wear Nubert's wig. If the player has obtained all recruits in Chapter 3, it instead wears a Shadowguy's hat. If the player has not gained all recruits in either Chapter, Ball wears no hat.
In Chapter 5, Ball appears east of Castle Town, by the Great Door. When interacted with, it claims to have turned out stronger than the party expected and floats away. Afterwards, Ball can be fought at the Top Bakery as a member of the Trashy Trio, where it appears with a body formed of many other balls.
