Puzzle Masters
We're sorry. We're normally puzzle guys, but...
We've been forced to do TUTORIALS just to make ends meet.Jigsaw Joe, Chapter 1
The Puzzle Masters,[1] also referred to as puzzle guys,[2][3] are a group of Darkner NPCs encountered in Field. They provide an assortment of tutorials for the party.
There are five different Puzzle Masters: Jigsaw Joe, Kris Master, Susie Master, Ralsei Master, and TP Master. In later Chapters, TP Master reappears under the name Battle's Master, then later as Love Master.
The Puzzle Masters resemble puzzle pieces, much like Jigsawrys. They have a bright green inner outline and each sport smug expressions. Kris Master is pink and wears three beanies, Susie Master is yellow and wears two beanies, Ralsei Master is orange and wears one beanie, and TP Master is red and does not wear a beanie.
The Puzzle Masters speak in rhymes when giving tutorials. They frequently give incorrect information and act shocked when they are corrected. They all offer a "tutorial" that only consists of them asking for money.
The Puzzle Masters used to manage the puzzles in Card Kingdom. However, when King took power, he fired them all without any severance pay and replaced them with Rouxls Kaard. This forced them to transition to offering tutorials. They donned itchy beanies given to them by Lancer.

In Chapter 1, the Puzzle Masters reside in Field, west of Seam's shop. They offer tutorials for each party member.
Kris Master provides the following information about Kris:
- Reviving: Consumables and Spells can revive downed party members, and the ReviveMint can fully heal a downed party member.
- Acting: In Chapter 1, only Kris can ACT, whereas other party members cannot. Ralsei interjects that he can SPARE or Pacify an opponent on the same turn that Kris ACTs, if that ACT makes the enemy sparable or Tired.
- Fact: Kris Master encourages the party to donate to the "Donation Hole". They also mention that they used to have a box for donations, though it was "stole".
Susie Master provides the following information about Susie:
- Warning: Kris's WARNING ACT prevents Susie from damaging enemies. She interjects that this means there is no reason to use it. If Susie is absent, they instead mention that "WARNing is obsolete". Once Susie agrees to listen in battle, Susie Master comments that WARNing is no longer necessary.
- Attack: Informs that Susie automatically attacks the topmost enemy during an encounter. If Susie is not in the party, they instead acknowledge her absence. Once Susie agrees to listen in battle they state that Susie's Rude Buster deals more damage when pressing the CONFIRM key.
- Fact: Susie Master suggests that Susie wants the party to donate to the Donation Hole. She disagrees. If Susie is absent, Susie Master wonders if the two can "pick up the slackts". Once Susie agrees to listen in battle, Susie Master is impressed by her personal growth.
Ralsei Master provides the following information about Ralsei:
- Pacify: Ralsei Master suggests using Pacify on "BABIES, before they CRY". Ralsei corrects them, and states that Pacify should be used on TIRED enemies to SPARE them.
- Healing: Ralsei Master mentions that Ralsei has a healing spell, but questions its use when food can be eaten to restore HP. Ralsei points out that the advantage is that it means an item is not consumed, causing Ralsei Master to realize they could have avoided empty calories.
- Fact: Ralsei Master claims that Ralsei loves when Kris donates to them, and that he will hug them if they do. Ralsei objects, noting that money is not necessary for him to give hugs.
TP Master provides the following information about TP:
- What's TP?: TP Master mentions that TP allows casting Spells, and claims that it stands for "Toilet Paper". Ralsei corrects them, and explains that it actually stands for Tension Points.
- Gaining TP: The party can gain TP by DEFENDing or grazing bullets. TP can be used to cast Spells.
- Secret: TP Master mentions that TP only lasts in battle, and disappears after the battle is over. TP Master suggests that there is no point in saving TP. However, Ralsei immediately points out that leftover TP becomes extra Dark Dollars.

In Chapter 2, only TP Master relocates to Castle Town. They appear in the Party Dojo as Battle's Master, and wear a beanie. They provide information of what can be done during the enemy's turn:
- Grazing: Move slowly when bullets are directly targeting the SOUL. Moving slightly helps avoid getting hit while earning TP. This also displays a visual example of an icon of Battle's Master avoiding bullets from the disco ball, and a white outline appears to represent TP being earned.
- Hitbox: Bigger bullets may have smaller hitboxes.
- Hole: If Kris has donated 1D$ to the Donation Hole in Chapter 1, they acknowledge and thank Kris. Otherwise, Battle's Master states that the "FUNDING GOAL" was not reached and refuses to talk about it.
In Chapter 4, TP Master remains in the Dojo, though now as the disillusioned Love Master. They can only be asked about LOVE's:
- Love: Love might be when two people fight in a Dojo together. They do not seem very confident of their statement.
- Battle's Master in Chapter 2
- Love Master in Chapter 4
