Cage Animals, Chapter 1

The Cage Animals are Darkners imprisoned behind a Goulden Sam cage in Card Castle during Chapter 1 of Deltarune. They relocate to Castle Town after the Eastern Fountain is sealed.

Profile

Appearance

The Cage Animals are four tan-brown animals. Their shapes are simplistic, and they lack any detail inside their outline besides shading. The largest animal positioned in the back is a darker shade of red. Meanwhile the three lighter shaded animals resemble, from left to right, an elephant, a bird and a monkey.

Personality

The Cage Animals miss when they were alone in the cages at first,[1] but later accept the Former Kings staying in the cages as well.[2]

Main story

Chapter 1

In Chapter 1, the Cage Animals are found in the rightmost Goulden Sam cage in Card Castle's prison. When talked to, they reveal that they miss being alone in the cages.[1]

If the party gets past King without harming anyone, the Cage Animals relocate to the throne room. Upon interaction, they say that they decided the Former Kings can also stay in the cages, as long as they put on animal ears and noses.[2]

Chapter 2

In Chapter 2, the Cage Animals appear in the basement of Ralsei's castle, where they dressed as kings as part of "cultural exchange",[3] in contrast to the Former Kings, who have dressed as animals.

Chapter 4

In Chapter 4, the Cage Animals have "left to seek their fortune", according to the right Goulden Sam.[4] A single crown remains in their place, which narration describes as "not even one of the better crowns".[5][6]
