Hometown
Nothing EVER happens in this town!
Undyne, Chapter 1
Hometown (JP: ホームタウン) is the primary location in Deltarune. It is currently the only Light World (JP: 光の世界) area available, and many Lightners met during the game live there. In each Chapter, a new Dark World appears somewhere in the town. Events can slightly vary based on if a Completion FILE is used per Chapter.
When Kris is in Hometown, the game menu is simplified, resembling that from Undertale, wherein the only options are "STAT", "ITEM", and "CELL". It is impossible to access the Config menu while in Hometown, and SAVE points only appear starting in Chapter 4.
Prior to the events of Deltarune, Alphys moved into Hometown. She noticed that both Carol and Undyne often visited the shelter.[1]
Sometime "recently", Hometown's internet went down due to an unspecified cause,[2][3][4] and the outage persists to the present day.
At the start of Chapter 1, Toriel and Kris go through Hometown's main road to reach school. During the drive, various residents wave at them.
After the Dark Fountain in Card Kingdom is sealed, time has passed. Kris has to walk home due to spending most of their day in the Dark World. During this time, Kris can explore Hometown.
In Chapter 2, Kris and Susie briefly exit the school to go to the library. Nearby, Hometown's main road is blocked by a traffic jam caused by a dog in a toy car, with Undyne trying to sort out the chaos.
Inside the library, Susie notices the room is unusually silent. Indifferent, Susie wants to play a game in the computer lab, and instead discovers a new Dark World. The two enter and descend into the Cyber World.
Post Cyber World, Kris, Susie, Noelle and Berdly wake up in the computer lab. Their reactions to their adventure vary based on if Berdly's arm was injured, or if the Weird Route was initiated. After Kris collects everything from the computer lab, they find Susie waiting outside the library. She acknowledges it is late, and offers to walk Kris home. However, before they can explore, Susie asks Kris to check on Lancer. After transferring the Cyber World Darkners, Kris and Susie can explore Hometown.
At the end of Chapter 3, Undyne enters TV World and is captured by the Knight. Determined, Susie brings Kris and returns to Hometown to chase after the Knight. They arrive at the shelter. Susie attempts to break open the door, but is only able to reveal an electronic lock hidden behind a metal panel. Susie reluctantly gives up and leaves to seal the Dark Fountain, but Kris stays to inspect the lock. The shelter door opens slightly before the Chapter ends.
At the beginning of Chapter 4, after eating breakfast in the Dreemurr residence, Kris and Susie attend service at the church with Toriel. Post service, Kris and Susie can explore Hometown before going to Noelle's House.
After getting kicked out of the mansion, Kris and Susie can explore the town in the rain. However, every building is closed and only a few Lightners are outside. At the second intersection, Susie suggests they can visit Ralsei if they did not go to Castle Town prior.
Once the 3rd Sanctuary Fountain has been sealed, Hometown can be explored a final time at night. Every building is closed, and only Kris and Susie are outside.
Hometown is surrounded by a dense forest with golden yellow leaves, indicating it is autumn. The town's road runs perpendicular from the Dreemurr residence to the shelter. It branches into three east to west streets, and has two four-way intersections.
Hometown's exit appears to be southwest, past the Police Station. There is also a lake path northeast of town.

The Dreemurr residence is the home of Kris, Toriel, Asriel, and formerly Asgore before he got divorced. It is the northernmost location in the town. This tidy two-story home is surrounded by trees on three sides, and has a driveway heading south, where Toriel's red van parks when she is at home. It is the first and last location visited in Chapter 1 and 2.
In Chapter 3, it becomes the primary setting for TV World.
In Chapter 4, Kris and Susie can temporarily explore most of the rooms before visiting Noelle's House.

This ornate black gate is at the far northwest of Hometown, west of the Dreemurr residence. It requires a key to open.
At the end of Chapter 1, Noelle can be found standing at the gate after Kris visits Rudy at the hospital. Noelle explains that she accidentally forgot her key.[5] If Kris asks her about the key, Noelle admits she does not want to bother her mother, and will be at Catti's house for the day.[6] If Kris converses with Noelle about Susie, this interaction transfers to Chapter 2 via Chapter 1 Completion FILE. If Kris does not, Noelle does not give Susie a lunchbox of chalk in Chapter 2.
In Chapter 2's epilogue, this gate is locked, and no one is outside.
In Chapter 4, Susie wonders where Noelle is, and admits she is hungry. Kris offers Susie a rose Asgore gave them. Susie takes it, and Noelle opens the gate. As Noelle apologizes for being late, she is surprised that Susie has a rose in her hand. Noelle is disappointed when Susie consumes the petals. Under the assumption that Noelle wanted some, Susie reaches for the stem. However, Noelle disregards the incident and returns to her house.
After Kris and Susie's visit, it begins to rain in Hometown. In console versions, the border changes to a pale palette.

Behind the locked gate is Noelle's House, which is the home of Noelle, Rudy, and Carol. Dess also has a room of her own.
It is inaccessible in Chapter 1, 2, and 3. It becomes available in Chapter 4 once Susie convinces Noelle that they can work on their school project.

Catty's house, home of Catty, Catti, Mom Cat, and Dad Cat, is far northwest in Hometown, east of the Dreemurr residence. It is a single-floor home with cat decorations for both its exterior and interior, and a broken grill outside, which smells of burnt cat food. It is the house closest to the road's upper three-way fork.
It cannot be entered in Chapter 1, though Catty and Dad Cat can be found outside. Inspecting the door causes Catty to exclaim that their house's "cat-flap" is always open to Kris. Kris can converse with Catty about Catti, Asriel, her east neighbor, or she can joke about trying to help Kris with homework. Interacting with Dad Cat causes him to reminisce about Asriel. A second time causes Dad Cat to wish that Asriel still remembers them after he becomes a "big shot".[7]
In Chapter 2's epilogue, no one is outside the house. Inspecting the door reveals that the cat flap is inexplicably locked.[8]
In Chapter 4, Sans can be found in front of the grill post church service. Sans is frying up cattails in lieu of hotdogs as a setup for one of his puns. Susie notices the hot dog is made of "cattail", alluding to Undertale's Hot Dog...? item. If Kris inspects the shelter's panel before it rains, then inspects the door, the narration mentions that the locked cat flap requires "3 codes", though this information is described as useless.[9][10]

Bratty's house is between Catty's house and the Blook house. It is a single-floor house with a navy-colored roof that resembles scales. The interior of the home appears to be dark. Two sets of yellow eyes can be seen through the windows, and scuffling noises and hissing can be heard from the window and door.
It cannot be entered in Chapter 1, but Bratty can be found outside. Kris can interact with her to listen to her complain about Catty, recall how she played truth or dare with Asriel, and Kris wanting to be friends with her when they were younger.
In Chapter 2, no one is outside the house.
In Chapter 4, the door can be inspected, revealing that the "eyes" are actually fresh donuts and the hissing sound was actually coming from a fryer inside the house.[11]

The Blook house[12] is a tilted blue-gray structure which resembles Napstablook's house from Undertale. It is between Bratty's house and the Flower King.
In Chapter 1, Kris cannot enter. If Kris knocks on the door, the nobody claims no one is home, and tells Kris to go home. Knocking again causes the nobody to emphasize that no one is home, though they hear Kris wants to converse with them. However, the responder apologizes and claims they are a nobody.[13]
In Chapter 2, a Froggit and Rabbit Lady can be found outside the Blook house. Froggit mentions that someone is singing from inside the Blook house, and assumes it is a ghost. Rabbit Lady describes herself as aimless without her brother.
Knocking on the Blook house causes an irritable ghost to respond, and ask who Kris is looking for. This can be irritable ghost, or "someone else". Choosing irritable ghost causes them to insult Kris, and also ask Kris if they can say hello to Asgore. However, irritable ghost immediately then reconsiders.[14] The "someone else" is the nobody, who acknowledges Kris as a possible fan. The nobody asks Kris if they can bring something entertaining for them "tomorrow".[15]
In Chapter 4, Kris can give Tenna to the nobody if Tenna was repaired. Checking the house again reveals that the nobody views a "salacious music video", and experiences an awakening.[16]

Flower King is Asgore's flower shop and residence, found at the far north-east side of Hometown. It is between the Blook house and the lake path. The Flower King's exterior is gold and orange, and has a stray vine growing around the right side of the rooftop. It is a two-floor building, with a hidden basement door that can be found at the exterior's right side. Asgore's truck is usually parked near it.

The dirt path is far eastward, past Flower King. Two green metal picnic tables can be found nearby the lake. At the end of the path is the beach, with a circular brown patch that Kris can idle on.
In Chapter 1's epilogue, the Royal Guards are talking at the lakeside near the picnic tables.[17] Kris can also choose to stick their fingers in the holes of a table, but only once. Onion can be spoken to if Kris idles on the brown patch near the lake, with this choice transferring to Chapter 2 via Completion FILE.
In Chapter 2's epilogue, Onion can be found if Kris became friends with them. Otherwise, Clam Guy can be found standing nearby. Clam Guy recalls waiting at the "weird circle" yesterday, and that the "thing" may not come back.[18] Afterwards, idling around the lakeside causes Kris and Susie to sit and watch the view.
In Chapter 4, interacting with the picnic tables during the first two roam sections causes Susie to humorously rhyme about a french fry on the ground under them.
If spoken to during previous Chapters, idling at the brown patch causes Susie to comment "looks like your weird friend is busy today". After leaving the area and coming back, the Striped Bird can be found standing on the brown spot, cryptically telling Kris not to wait. They can also be found here later while raining if not spoken to earlier.
Alternatively, if Onion was not spoken or Kris was impolite to Onion, idling instead causes Susie to try to skip a rock along the lakewater, which causes Kris to suppress a laugh. Standing on the brown spot at night causes Kris and Susie to once again sit and watch the view; this time, after waiting long enough, Susie notes that someone is playing a song on the other side of the lake. Waiting longer causes Susie to ask Kris what's on their mind, Kris responds with their mouth closed, confusing Susie.

The 'Sans grocery store is east of the middle four way intersection. It is owned by Sans, and to its right is Sans's house. In Chapter 1 and Chapter 4, the building cannot be entered, though Sans stands in front of the door. Kris can interact with Sans, but he does not allow them inside.
In Chapter 2, Scarf Lady is outside. She expresses disliking the library. When inside, Sans's theme; sans. from Undertale plays.

Sans and his "little brother" recently moved into the house east of the grocery store. The exterior resembles its Undertale counterpart, though it does not have snow, a pirate flag, or holiday decorations.
In Chapter 1, the door can only be knocked on, and the narration mentions "the distant trousle of bones". This references Papyrus's theme, Bonetrousle from Undertale.
In Chapter 2, the door can only be knocked on. The narration states, "a ..trousle... growing further away..."
In Chapter 4, the door can be knocked on again, but "nary a bone... Nor trousle, no xylophone tickle" can be heard. Later at night, Kris can peek through the door's window. The inside of the house is described similar to its appearance in Undertale, though it is slightly messy.[19]
East of Sans's house are the west apartments. They are two of the town's three brownstone apartment buildings, and the alley is on the right side. The innkeeper's child peers from the second floor of the left building, and a door knocker enthusiast lives in the right building.
In Chapter 1, Kris can knock on the left building, which causes innkeeper's child to mention that their mother mentioned Kris to them. They ask if Kris gets hurt from being made of blood. The door knocking guy comments that Kris's knocks sound like a "beginner".
In Chapter 2, knocking causes innkeeper's child to inquire where a human's skeletons come from. The door knocking guy acknowledges that Kris's knocks sound like an "amateur".
In Chapter 4, innkeeper's child asks if Kris is afraid of Susie biting them, and Susie scares them away in response. The door knocking guy is not at home, so his wife responds instead, asking Kris to take a break from knocking for the day.

The alley is middle northeast, between the apartments. In it are five trash cans, with three of them filled with flowers, and a pink saucer on the left. On the north wall is a fixed retractable ladder, and graffiti of ICE-E and Everyman.
In Chapter 1, Alphys can be found here, as her office hours are often in the alley. Approaching causes Alphys to notices Kris, and who is glad to see Kris is well. This interaction, or lack of, transfers to Chapter 2 via Completion FILE.
Kris can then inquire Alphys about the trash can flowers, mention the chalk, or the saucer. For the latter, Alphys explains she fills the saucer with milk every day for an unseen cat, who she named "MewMew".
In Chapter 2, Bratty can be found in this alley. Kris can converse with her to learn about Bratty finding Catty at the lakeside, or her opinion of Susie. If Kris inspects the covered trash cans, Bratty becomes possessive of the trash.
In Chapter 4, Catty can be seen ravaging Alphys's saucer, leaving her upset and Susie angered. The Milk Looker is also there, who wishes to stay uninvolved.
The last of the town's three brownstone apartment buildings sits to the east of the alley.
In Chapter 1, Monster Kid and Snowy stand outside it, while Snowy's father is inside. Monster Kid is glad to know that Kris is well, and recalls when Susie quietly lurked during a round of handball. Interacting with Monster Kid again causes them to question why Kris seems annoyed.[20] Snowy is jealous that Kris missed class, and mentions his dad would scold him if he tried to. Knocking on the door causes Snowy's father to respond, though he assumes the knocker is Snowy. He irritably emphasizes to Snowy that he should not knock on the door with his head.
In Chapter 2, knocking on Snowy's door causes Susie to question what Kris is doing. After finding Snowy and Monster Kid at the shelter, the duo are implied to be hiding inside; knocking on the door causes Monster Kid to question why Kris is with Susie, and state that they refuse to go outside.
In Chapter 4, Alphys, distraught over milk-related choices, blocks the door. After visiting Noelle's House, the apartment door can be checked. The dialogue varies depending if Kris has already checked the Dreemurr residence's door:
- If Kris did not, Kris jostles the door handle. Susie then suggests they should return to the Dreemurr residence, as the area is "boring".
- Otherwise, Susie suggests that they should find Toriel so they can go back to the Dreemurr residence.[21]
If the party return to this area after sealing the Dark Fountains in the church, Susie once again suggests that they go back to Kris's house.
The Diner is west of the middle four-way intersection. It boasts a homey atmosphere, with three booths and a cafe counter surrounded by bar stools. Its owner, QC, tends to be found at the cafe counter. Catti and Dress Lion are often working as servers. Various patrons can be found here depending on the Chapter.

ICE-E's P"E"ZZA is a building far west from the middle central road, next to QC's Diner. It is a single-floor building, with various ICE-E and pizza posters on its walls, and a soda-dispensing machine with assorted flavors. Pizzapants, Blue Ears, The Warrior, and possibly Purple Guy work there.
In Chapter 1 and Chapter 4, the pizzeria is closed. In Chapter 2, Snail Guy and Scared Donut Guy can be found parked outside, and the building itself can be entered.
The library, whose sign's misspelling returns from Undertale's Snowdin Library, is east of the central road and west of the school. It is a two-floor building. Berdly often works at the library as a volunteer.
In Chapter 2, it is the site of the Dark Fountain in the Cyber World.

The school, east of the library, seems to cater to the education of all the inhabitants of Hometown. It is split into two classes: one for younger children, taught by Toriel, and one for adolescents, taught by Alphys. Toriel brings Kris there for the school day after they exit her house. This is where Kris and Susie can access Castle Town within the closet Dark World during their adventures.
In Chapter 1, the school also houses the Eastern Fountain and Card Kingdom. The first closet Dark World location they enter is ??????. In Chapter 2, they instead descend into Castle Town.
The school is inaccessible during the events of Chapter 3. During Chapter 4, the player may enter the school after going to church; however, if they attempt to enter after sealing all the fountains, they will be unable to.

The hospital is west of the lower intersection, with the Police Station at its left side. Inside, the nurse works as the receptionist. At the receptionist room, there is a bead maze on the table, and small piano that Kris can play. Kris can visit the two patients rooms past the reception area. Many patients such as Shyren and The Warrior temporarily stay at the hospital, but Rudy remains a permanent patient, suffering from an unknown illness.
In Chapter 1, Undyne can be found in front of the hospital. She is directing Scared Donut Guy and Snail Guy. Kris can inquire about Alphys, offer to help, or try to inform of the Dark World in the school.
In Chapter 4, Berdly can be seen in the hospital's temporary patient room if he injured his arm in the Cyber World, but he is fully unconscious if the Chapter 2 Weird Route has been completed.
The Police Station is west of the hospital and is nearby the blocked road. Undyne and Napstablook are Hometown's officers, and work here. It can only be entered in Chapter 2.

The blocked road can be found far southwest, near the Police Station. It is the only road that appears to exit outside of Hometown.
In Chapter 1, it is blocked with sawhorses and police caution tape with "NGAHHHHH!!!" written on it, which is what Undyne occasionally shouts in Undertale.
In Chapter 2, a second police tape overlaps the first. It has additional capitalized writing to emphasize. Alphys can be found nearby, along with her broken bike. The bike is described as giving a "honk of despair", which alludes to the bike in Undertale's garbage dump. If spoken to, Alphys partially explains her bike accident she had with Undyne. Kris can listen to Alphys's opinion of the police, or explain their project progress. Choosing "See ya" causes Alphys to realize tomorrow is not a school day.[22] If Kris has the Box of Heart Candy, they can give it to her.
In Chapter 4, the police tape's flavor text changes when it rains. The police tape is revealed to be wet, evidently because of the present rain.

The Town Hall is lower east, past the end of the central road.
In Chapter 1, no one is outside. In Chapter 2, Rainy and Rabbit Kid can be found outside. Rainy is grateful for the open space. Rabbit Kid mentions that Rainy's dance interrupted their round of baseball, and can briefly consider joining him.
In Chapter 4, Ice Wolf can be found setting up garlands for the festival outside.
The church is at the lower end of the central road, left of Town Hall. Its exterior is green, and has colorful stained glass windows. At the top of its long spire is an orb with feathered wings, which is depicted in the Delta Rune emblem.
In Chapter 1, Alvin stands in front of the door and can be asked about "Fruit Juice".
In Chapter 2, Terry stands there impressing three little Ice Caps with differently colored hats by claiming they DON'T have to go to the bathroom.
It cannot be entered until Chapter 4, where it hosts the weekly church service and later on houses the Dark Sanctuaries.

The dirt path west of the church leads to the graveyard. It has a tall, ornate black gate, with the top adorned with the orb and feathered wings from the Delta Rune.
In the fenced section are four tombstones. From left to right, they are for Gerson, Crystal, Muttler, and Shyra. The latter three are the implied names for Undertale's Amalgamates. At the far left is the Gerson Boom Memorial Bench, which encourages anyone to rest on it.
In Chapter 1, no one is present, though Kris can explore the area.
In Chapter 2, Alvin can be found next to his father's grave. Kris can inquire about Gerson, have Alvin reminisce about Asriel, or listen to him explain the hammer ritual and learn more about Gerson's past. After interacting with him and making to leave the area, Kris can overhear Alvin muttering to himself as he mentions the hammer and wonders if his father was proud of him.
In Chapter 4, Snowy and his father are visiting Snowy's mother's grave after church. Interacting with either of them will prompt them to say that now isn't the time. Interacting with the two rightmost tombstones prompts Susie to ask Kris if hanging around the graveyard is their idea of having fun.
Interacting with Gerson's tombstone at night after cleansing the Dark Sanctuary's Fountains causes Susie to become pensive.
The far south of the church and Town Hall leads to a long forest pathway and the shelter.
In Chapter 1, the doors are locked.
In Chapter 2, Snowy and Monster Kid can be found conversing in front of the doors. Nearing them causes Susie to scare them away, and the two flee to the east apartments.
In Chapter 3, Susie and Kris chase after the Knight to rescue Undyne, and find the shelter has a Dark World. Susie finds an electronic lock hidden behind a metal panel on the door. After she leaves, Kris takes a closer look and the door creaks open.
In Chapter 4, the doors can be inspected multiple times during the course of the day, to no avail. At night, Susie states that they will have to do something about it tomorrow.

In the UNDERTALE 6th Anniversary stream, Toby Fox has various comments regarding Hometown during Chapter 1. Toby describes the sequence of Kris and Toriel entering the car as them "walking under the car". He explains that he was unsure how to make it look like they were actually entering the car.[23]
Additionally, Toby wanted Hometown to appear as if it was from Undertale, including the inventory menus and the characters.[24] This includes when selecting a choice when Susie asks for Kris's opinion. He states he had made two different menu systems.[25]
Initially, SAVE Points were not going to be present in the Light World at all. However, Toby made an exception for Chapter 4 and included them after development testing.[26]
