Titled publications

Can Snails Help Your Garden? Um, Not Really

Can Snails Help Your Garden? Um, Not Really (JP: 「カタツムリが おにわを きれいに する?(…てことは ありません)」) is a book inside of the bookshelf on the second floor of the Dreemurr residence in Chapter 1. It is the third book Kris notices, and it is found alongside copies of Tales of Snails - A Story Book, Snails Do Not Have Tails - A Scientific Refutation, and a signed copy of The History of Humans and Monsters. This book's overly-long title is humorous commentary on how snails are considered to be garden pests. Its subject and location are a reference to Toriel's snail facts book in Undertale.

How To Care For A Human

How To Care For A Human (JP: 「にんげんの おせわの しかた」) is a book inside of the rightmost bookshelf on the second floor of the library in Chapter 2 and Chapter 4. It contains info for monsters on how to care for humans, and photos of humans unfamiliar to Kris. According to a card in the back, Toriel took it out repeatedly many years ago. If the book is interacted with, Kris will examine it only briefly before quickly shutting it again.

How to Draw Dragons

How to Draw Dragons (JP: 「ドラゴンの えがきかた」), also formatted as How To Draw Dragons, is Asriel's overdue library book at the bottom of the drawer on the second floor of the Dreemurr residence. It can be inspected during Chapters 2 and 4. It is overdue by 2,583 days, slightly more than 7 years, during the events of Chapter 1.[1] Berdly is willing to reduce the fine to $64.23 if it is returned within the week,[2] but inspecting it at the Dreemurr residence has the narration note it is doubtful that Asriel will ever return it.[3] Toriel is aware of the accruing debt of late fees associated with the book, and does not seem to intend to pay them or return the book.[4]

The front cover is stated to have a mauve dragon wearing lipstick[5] and an immodest outfit.[3] If Kris opens the drawer during Chapter 4, Susie is initially surprised to see the book and Kris quickly shuts the drawer before she can comment further on it.[6] Susie is amused and playfully pesters Kris to re-open the drawer so she can have another look at the book.[7]

In Chapter 2, Noelle can misclick on a link to buy How To Draw Dragons while engaging with Poppups.

A drawing of a dragon can be found in Dess's room at Noelle's House, and, considering Asriel and Dess spent time together, it is possible she made the drawing using this book. If true, this would indicate the book was likely checked out while Dess was still around.

Jongler's Book on Jongleing And Other Tricks

Jongler's Book overworld.png
Jongler's Book on Jongleing And Other Tricks

Jongler's Book on Jongleing And Other Tricks (JP: ジャンゴリングなどの技を解説したジャンゴリング入門書) is a lime-green book inside of Kris's room in Queen's Mansion in Chapter 2. It appeared due to Kris's previous search query for "how to use magic". "Jongleing" is a playful spelling of the word "juggling", and the cover contains an image of two arms juggling six pink balls. "Jongler" is referenced as the title of the cat-tossing Mike minigame available in Chapter 4.

Lord of the Hammer

Lord of the Hammer (JP: 「ロード・オブ・ザ・ハンマー」) is a famous, award-winning fiction book series written by Gerson. According to the Hammer of Justice, the series was an interpretation of the prophecy and featured six installments; the seventh book never got written. The Dragon Blazers video game series is based on it.

In Chapter 1, the first book of the series is found inside of the upper-left bookshelf on the first floor of the library. In Chapter 2, the entire Lord of the Hammer series is found on the same bookshelf.

"Please remember my name. Please. I wrote a book to help you remember."

"Please remember my name. Please. I wrote a book to help you remember." (JP: 「オレのなまえ おぼえといてくれ。おぼえといて もらえるように このほんを かいた」) is a book inside of the upper-right bookshelf on the first floor of the library in Chapter 1. Its author is Hots Fireguy. The ability to view it gets replaced with a book of magic tricks in Chapter 2.

Snails Do Not Have Tails - A Scientific Refutation

Snails Do Not Have Tails - A Scientific Refutation (JP: 「かがくてき じじつ:カタツムリには おはなしをする のうりょくは ない」 Scientific Fact: Snails Do Not Have the Ability to Tell Tales) is a book inside of the bookshelf on the second floor of the Dreemurr residence in Chapter 1. It is the second book Kris notices, and it is found alongside copies of Tales of Snails - A Story Book, Can Snails Help Your Garden? Um, Not Really, and a signed copy of The History of Humans and Monsters. Snails Do Not Have Tails - A Scientific Refutation almost seems to refute the claim made by the title of the previous book, Tales of Snails - A Story Book, though the concepts of "tales" and "tails" are unrelated, so it may be refuting another book entirely.

Tales of Snails - A Story Book

Tales of Snails - A Story Book (JP: 「カタツムリの おはなし」 Tales of Snails) is a book inside of the bookshelf on the second floor of the Dreemurr residence in Chapter 1. It is the first book Kris notices, and it is found alongside copies of Snails Do Not Have Tails - A Scientific Refutation, Can Snails Help Your Garden? Um, Not Really, and a signed copy of The History of Humans and Monsters.

The History of Humans and Monsters

There is a signed copy of The History of Humans and Monsters (JP: 「ニンゲンとモンスターのれきし」) inside of the bookshelf on the second floor of the Dreemurr residence in Chapter 1. Its author is Gerson. "Humans and monsters" is a phrase used several times during Undertale, with its first instance being the first intro panel upon game start-up.

Untitled publications

Book 1 about SOULS

Book 1 about SOULS is a book inside of the second-to-right bookshelf on the second floor of the library in Chapters 1 and 4. It gives alternate terms for the SOUL, and states that its true function is unknown.

The SOUL has long been called many things.
The font of our compassion. The source of our will.
The container of our "life force."
But even now, the true function of it is unknown.

Book about eating green eggs

The book about eating green eggs is a book mentioned by Toriel during Chapter 1. Asriel hated the book as a child due to his father cooking spotted eggs - which Asriel associated with his favorite green lizard from Super Smashing Fighters - for breakfast, greatly upsetting him. The book is a reference to Dr. Seuss's children book, Green Eggs and Ham.

Book about Monster Funerals

The book about Monster Funerals is a book inside of the third-to-right bookshelf on the second floor of the library in Chapter 4. Its introduction details how the dust of a deceased monster is spread over an object that they loved, and then buried, so that their soul may rest within it.

... When monsters die, their dust will be spread over what they loved.
An object that symbolizes their existence. That object will be buried...
And in such a way, their soul be able to rest, within that object, and the earth.
Of course, everyone knows that. That's why this is the introduction...

Book about preventing backtracking

The book about preventing backtracking is a book inside of the bookshelf on the third floor of Queen's Mansion in Chapter 2.

Book about secret passageway construction

The book about secret passageway construction is a book inside of the bookshelf on the third floor of Queen's Mansion in Chapter 2. Due to a bug, it becomes a copy of the book about preventing backtracking once the shortcut to floor 4 opens up.

Book about shortcuts that open up later

The book about shortcuts that open up later is a book inside of the two bookshelves of the entrance lobby of Queen's Mansion in Chapter 2. When the shortcuts to floor 2 and floor 3 open up later, the bookshelves, and their books, become unavailable.

Book of hymns

Book of hymns overworld table.png
The book of hymns on a table

The book of hymns is a dark-colored book lying on a table in the living room of the Dreemurr residence in Chapters 1 and 2. In the Dark World, the book of hymns transforms into a Bibliox that is found in Nowhere of TV World in Chapter 3.

Book of magic tricks

The book of magic tricks is a book inside of the upper-right bookshelf on the first floor of the library in Chapter 2. It replaces the ability to view "Please remember my name. Please. I wrote a book to help you remember." from Chapter 1. It simply states that most of the magic tricks require orbs or floating hands. This is a reference to the Undertale enemy Madjick, who uses orbs and floating hands to attack.

Book with flavor text

The book with flavor text is a book inside of the lower-right bookshelf on the first floor of the library in Chapters 1 and 2. Kris can lick the book; when licked, it is stated to be delicious. If Kris licks it while Susie is present, she gets offended that Kris did not share.

Book with pages of eyes

The book with pages of eyes is a book found by Susie in the telescope room of the Dark Sanctuary if Ralsei's room was not visited at the beginning of Chapter 4. Susie finds it strange that the book only contains eyes, and one of them talks to her, but, despite this, she says she would read at school if books were like this.

Magazines in 'Sans grocery store

In Chapter 2, a magazine rack in the 'Sans grocery store containing multiple untitled magazines becomes available. From left to right, they magazines are:

  • An Ice-E's Pizza Pin-Ups Mangazine (JP: 「ぶるどっ君 グラビヤとくしゅう」 Burudokkun Gravure Special), containing low-quality images of pizza. The description is written with bad grammar.[8] The description of these images is somewhat similar to the supposed image of Pizzarina received by Pizzapants.
  • A fluffy dog magazine, containing different dog fur samples to touch.
  • Multiple car magazines, which Kris seems embarrassed about liking.[9] This is most likely a reference to the video game Mega Man Legends, which uses near-identical text when MegaMan Volnutt interacts with a similar store selling dirty magazines.
  • A zine for Jockington fans, which seems to be popular.

Peculiar book

The peculiar book is a book found in the 2nd Sanctuary, in the room that leads to Chapter 4's Egg. It contains an excerpt on how a fallen star's tears created rivers of bitter water, eventually forming something that resembled glass.

And so wept the fallen star, making rivers with its tears.
Then, slowly, from the bitter water, something grew.
It looked like glass.

This may relate to BitterTears – also said to be bitter water that fell from the sky. It may also relate to Glass, the Light World form of Shadow Crystals.

This text may also be a reference to the biblical passage Revelation 8:10–11, which describes, as part of a larger apocalyptic prophecy, a fallen star making river waters bitter.

Someone's diary

The unlabelled book, or someone's diary, is an accidental autobiography inside of the lower-left bookshelf on the first floor of the library in Chapters 1 and 2. The writing and mannerisms are similar to Napstablook's.

The author laments a series of unfortunate events where they returned their own personal journal instead of the book they borrowed. Rather than correcting the issue, they decide to check out their book each time they need to write an entry. Another reader writes a review on the diary, and it becomes critically acclaimed, to the distress of the author.

Video games

Cat Petters franchise

Cat Petters RPG

Cat Petters RPG screenshot bed.png
A copy of Cat Petters RPG found underneath Asriel's bed

Cat Petters RPG (JP: 「キャット・ナデラー・クエスト」 Cat Stroker Quest), also known as Cat Petters The RPG (JP: 「キャット・ナデラーRPG」 Cat Stroker RPG), is a video game mentioned in Chapter 2. A cartridge of it is found underneath Asriel's bed, and is labeled "catti & catty" in gel pen. In Chapter 4, battle narration text against the Mikes can mention "dried gel pen", a reference to the same cartridge.

According to Noelle's blog in the Spamton Sweepstakes, it contains minigames that are cameos from Cat Petters. Noelle considers Cat Petters RPG to be a rip-off of Dragon Blazers.

Cat Petters

Cat Petters (JP: 「キャット・ナデラー」 Cat Stroker) is a video game mentioned on Noelle's blog in the Spamton Sweepstakes. It has minigames with silly names that the player can play with their cats, such as JONGLER and a game with a "complete nonsense" name.[10] The minigames make a cameo in Cat Petters RPG. Unlike its sequels, Cat Petterz 2 and Cat Petterz 4, it lacks the letter "z" in the title.

Cat Petterz 2

Cat Petterz 2 (JP: 『キャット・ナデラー2』 Cat Stroker 2) is a video game mentioned on Noelle's blog in the Spamton Sweepstakes. Noelle cites it as one of her favorite games. She mentions that "Mewmewqueen" (likely Alphys) created a Sympton family pack mod for the game.

The game involves taking care of a cat and raising it. The breeding system involves having two pets fall in love with each other in order to create eggs, allowing the creation of more pets. The pets have their own stats. The game is hex-editable and moddable, allowing for the creation of pets other than cats. The game's visual art style consists of the pets being entirely composed of circles.[11]

Cat Petterz 4

Cat Petterz 4 (JP: キャット・ナデラー4 Cat Stroker 4) is a video game mentioned in Chapter 4. Noelle owns a copy of it on her computer, and one of her save files has something similar to seven headless cats.

Cat Petterz 4 is akin to a pet-raising game. It contains a bug that allows the player to obtain glitched-out pets.

Dragon Blazers franchise

Dragon Blazers

Dragon Blazers screenshot Noelle battle.png
Noelle mentions Dragon Blazers

Dragon Blazers (JP: 「ドラゴンブレイダー」 Dragon Blader) is a video game mentioned in Chapter 2 and 4. It is based on Lord of the Hammer. If the "TakeCareX" ACT is used during Noelle's first battle against Virovirokun, Noelle copes with the shock by relating the battle to the mercy mechanic in Dragon Blazers. She also relates the "Annoying Mouse" block-pushing puzzles to the game. Berdly owns a barf bag themed on the game.

The game contains underground levels where the music repeats over and over again. One of the characters is "the Dragon".

According to Noelle's blog in the Spamton Sweepstakes, the ice area of the game contains a cross-shaped maze where a character can guide the player to an elusive locked door. The game has a music track called "Glaceir", a reference to GLACEIR.

The ice area, the relation to the prophecy, the repetitive music while underground, and the reference to GLACEIR all show a connection between Dragon Blazers and the Original Game.

Dragon Blazers 2

Dragon Blazers 2 (JP: 「ドラゴンブレイダー2」 Dragon Blader 2) is a video game mentioned in Chapter 2 and 4. Susie stole her copy from the lost-and-found, and played it secretly to avoid getting into trouble. Noelle played the game's "Evil Route" in secret from her parents, while Susie activated it by mistake, not knowing it was possible for the player to act nice. Susie expresses she would play the game the "good way" if she had the chance to replay it.

The protagonist's sister, who is a party member, gets cursed, causing her stats to become worse. The game's Evil Route is activated by killing everything, which causes characters to behave more angrily than normal towards the protagonist.

An evil route being possible in the second installment is similar to the Weird Route's beginning in Chapter 2. However, the execution and traits of this evil route are more similar to Undertale's Genocide Route.

Dragon Blazers III

Dragon Blazers III (JP: 「ドラゴンブレイダーIII」 Dragon Blader III) is a video game mentioned by Rudy in Chapter 1. Rudy is curious about Noelle's progress in the game, though the latter is still stuck in the Ice Palace. Noelle wishes to finish the game with her dad, so he recommends bringing it over to the hospital. It is implied she brings the game during Chapter 2.

In the game implied to be Dragon Blazers III, the game has an Ice Palace boss called "Silver Drake" that reflects fire attacks, a mage party member who can use Fireshock and can also leave the party, a spell called "Iceshock", and an item called a Blaze Potion that causes fire damage to enemies.

Minecrap

Minecrap screenshot Hacker.png
Hacker mentions Minecrap

Minecrap (JP: 「マインクシャット」 Minecrush) is a video game mentioned in Chapter 2. Hacker at Castle Town plans to mine 1,000 blocks of Bubsidian in Minecrap to make his dog 3 colors.[12][13] On the Weird Route, interacting with the basement door in Queen's Mansion has Spamton dismissively shoo the party away, telling them to play Minecrap since he has no time to be some kids' extra boss.[14]

In the Spamton Sweepstakes, it is revealed that Berdly plays Minecrap. He somehow deleted it from his computer and only managed to reinstall it with the help of a prank caller. He plays Minecrap together with them in a server.[15]

Minecrap is a reference to Minecraft. Bubsidian's equivalent is the crafting ingredient obsidian, Hacker's dog is a tamed wolf, and the dog's colors can be altered with the dyeing mechanic.

The specific name is likely a reference to the video Minecraft with Gadget created by Cinemassacre's Mike Matei, which has garnered a cult following due to its stilted line delivery and campiness. In it, the character of Inspector Gadget repeatedly mistakes Minecraft's name as Minecrap, even after Matei corrects him.

Original Game

The "original game" (JP: 元のゲーム) (real name unknown) is a Dark World video game playable during the Sword Route in Chapter 3.

Skateboard game

Skateboard game overworld.png
The skateboard game

The skateboard game (JP: スケボーゲーム / スケートボードゲーム) is an online game about skateboarding. Susie found and played the skateboard game in the library, and also looked up cheats for it. In Chapter 2, Susie attempted to get the game to run on the computer in her room in Queen's Mansion but was unsuccessful.

If the player chooses to snoop through Noelle's computer during Chapter 4, Kris stumbles upon the skateboard game, which causes Susie to happily exclaim upon recognizing it. This catches Noelle's attention, and Susie thinks of a poor excuse to keep her from getting suspicious. Kris takes the opportunity to set Noelle's homepage to the skateboard game as a prank.

Space Pinball

Space Pinball (JP: 「スペースピンボール」) is a computer video game mentioned in Chapter 2. Susie suggests she and Kris should play it in the computer lab instead of working on their school project.

Space Pinball likely refers to Microsoft 3D Pinball: Space Cadet, a video game that came preinstalled on versions of Windows starting at 95 and ending with XP.

Space werewolf game

The space werewolf game (JP: うちゅう じんろうゲーム) is a game mentioned in Chapter 4. When Susie, in the closet of Noelle's house, comments that the room is "kinda sus", "especially that vent", Noelle incorrectly assumes that Susie is making an intentional reference to the game.[16]

The game remains completely unnamed in the English version of Deltarune, but in the Japanese localization is referred to as a "space werewolf game" (うちゅう じんろうゲーム),[17] with "werewolf" simply referring to the genre of the game as a social deduction game, in reference to the party game Werewolf.

The game, along with the specific uses of "sus" and "vent", is a reference to the 2018 social deduction game Among Us, which surged in popularity in 2020, spawning a number of notable memes.

Super Smashing Fighters

Super Smashing Fighters screenshot Toriel.png
Toriel mentions Super Smashing Fighters

Super Smashing Fighters (JP: 「大乱闘スマッシュファイターズ」 Super Smash Fighters), also known as Smashing Fighters (JP: 「スマッシュファイターズ」 Smash Fighters), is a video game mentioned in Chapters 1, 2, and 3.

In Chapter 1, Toriel recounts how the family threw a birthday party for Asriel when he was a child, themed around the green lizard character in Super Smashing Fighters. The party had painted spotted eggs as decorations.

In Chapter 2, after the player finds the secret switch to the basement of Queen's Mansion, Hacker mentions "Super SMashing Fighters" with a capital M. He declares he will use his powers to reverse engineer the game to insert his favorite cartoon characters.

In Chapter 3, Tenna can quiz the party on Asriel's favorite character from Smashing Fighters. The quiz question offers "SWORD MAGICIAN", "BIG PENGUIN", "PURPLE DRAGON", and "GREEN LIZARD" as potential answers. Tenna mentions that Asriel became embarrassed about liking the "green dinosaur" and switched to being a fan of the "fiery magician girl" instead, although Tenna believes that this character may also be embarrassing to have as a favorite, in a different kind of way.

Super Smashing Fighters is a reference to the Nintendo fighting game series, featuring many characters from across the company's games, Super Smash Bros. The "green lizard", or "green dinosaur", is likely referencing Yoshi, the "big penguin" is likely referencing King Dedede, while the "purple dragon" is likely referencing Ridley. The "sword magician" can be potentially interpreted as referencing Robin, who uses both a sword and a magic tome, and is from the Fire Emblem series, hence "fiery". It could also potentially reference Pyra, a swordswoman with fire-based attacks.

While never explicitly linked to Super Smashing Fighters, a game technique used in Super Smash Bros. known as "wavedashing" is referred to a couple of times in Deltarune. In Chapter 2, Berdly compares wavedashing to a form of cheating after witnessing Kris solve a puzzle on their own. In Chapter 4, Ms. Boom admonishes Kris for partaking in wavedashing, having learned this information from Berdly.

TV Time: The Legend of Tenna

TV Time: The Legend of Tenna is a Dark World video game that is a major part of Tenna's TV Time show that is played in Chapter 3. It is an altered version of the Original Game, made by Tenna.

Titled shows

Blood Crushers franchise

Blood Crushers

The original Blood Crushers is a movie mentioned by Susie in Chapter 4. Susie has only ever seen its sequel, Blood Crushers 2. Upon learning this, Noelle offers to watch the box set with her.

Blood Crushers 2

Blood Crushers 2 (JP: 「ブラッド・クラッシャー2」 Blood Crusher 2) is a movie mentioned in Chapters 3 and 4. In Chapter 3, Susie questions if Ralsei could survive it. In Chapter 4, Susie references the severed hand which appears in the movie, a reference which Noelle recognizes, having seen the movie herself.

In Blood Crushers 2, the protagonist of the movie wakes up without their hand. They follow the sound of music into the basement, where they get attacked by the severed hand, which is alive independent of their body.

Blood Crushers 3

Blood Crushers 3 (JP: 「ブラッド・クラッシャー3」 Blood Crusher 3) is one of Susie's preferred movie choices in Chapter 2, along with Hell Busters and Invasion of the Cat Petters.

Cat Petters franchise

Cat Petters 2

Cat Petters 2 (JP: 「キャット・ナデラー2」 Cat Stroker 2) is a movie mentioned by Catty in Chapter 1. She watched it at the movie theater, unwillingly with Bratty.

Invasion of the Cat Petters

Invasion of the Cat Petters (JP: 「キャット・ナデラーのしゅうらい」) is one of Susie's preferred movie choices in Chapter 2, along with Blood Crushers 3 and Hell Busters. It is unclear if it is related to the Cat Petters video game series.

DEAL OR NO DEAL

DEAL OR NO DEAL screenshot.png
Spamton mentions DEAL OR NO DEAL

DEAL OR NO DEAL is a TV show mentioned by Spamton during his fight in Chapter 2. If the player chooses "DON'T TAKE DEAL" instead of "TAKE DEAL" during the third dialogue choice, Spamton explains the show's premise.

DEAL OR NO DEAL involves people who do not take the deal getting filled with bullets fired from the host's mouth. Its title is a reference to the game show of the same name of an unrelated premise.

Hell Busters

Hell Busters is one of Susie's preferred movie choices in Chapter 2, along with Blood Crushers 3 and Invasion of the Cat Petters.

ICE-E The Movie

ICE-E The Movie (JP: 「えいが ぶるどっ君」 Burudokkun: The Movie) is a movie mentioned by Susie in Chapter 2. She laughs at the idea of Kris potentially preferring to watch it over the movies with more serious titles: Blood Crushers 3, Hell Busters, and Invasion of the Cat Petters. Based on the name, the movie likely stars the ICE-E's P"E"ZZA mascot, ICE-E.

Mew Mew franchise

Mew Mew 1

Mew Mew 1 (JP: 『みゅうみゅう1』), likely short for Mew Mew Kissy Cutie (JP: キスキスキューティみゅうみゅう Kiss Kiss Cutie Mew Mew), is an anime TV show mentioned by The Anonymous Yellow Lizard on the library corkboard in Chapter 1. The Yellow Lizard criticizes Mew Mew's character as more stale than the ramen the lizard eats at home with the lights off. This contrasts with Alphys's counterpart in Undertale, whose favorite TV show is the first Mew Mew Kissy Cutie.

Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2

Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2 (JP: キスキスキューティみゅうみゅう2 Kiss Kiss Cutie Mew Mew 2), or Mew Mew 2 (JP: 『みゅうみゅう2』), is an anime TV show first mentioned by The Anonymous Yellow Lizard on the library corkboard in Chapter 1. The Yellow Lizard considers the show to have a dark storyline with maturer themes compared to the first show, and acclaims it as a dark masterpiece. This contrasts with Alphys's counterpart in Undertale, who feels that Mew Mew 2 is neither kissy nor cutie, and that it ruins Mew Mew's entire character arc.

In Chapter 2, Alphys reveals that Asgore also enjoys Mew Mew 2.

Symptons

Symptons screenshot Alphys.png
Alphys mentions the Symptons

The Symptons (JP: 「ザ・シンプトンズ」) is a TV show mentioned by Alphys in Chapter 1. It is a 28-season sitcom about a middle-class monster family.

After season 2, it got rebooted to Symptons Turbo (JP: 「シンプトンズ・ターボ」). The characters initially drove animal-shaped motor vehicles that were their friends while fighting giga-demons, but eventually the vehicles became no longer animal-shaped nor their friends, losing the focus the show had on familial bonds.

Symptons Galaxy Force (JP: 「シンプトンズ・ギャラクシー・フォース」) is another entry in the Symptons franchise, where the Symptons discover another Earth on the other side of the Sun.

The Symptons is a conceptual fusion of The Simpsons and Power Rangers. Several references to the original The Simpsons are found throughout Deltarune:

  • After solving the second block-pushing puzzle in Card Castle, Rouxls Kaard teases the idea that he has not yet revealed his ultimate puzzle. When Ralsei asks "Can we see it?", Rouxls bluntly responds with "No" while sliding away. This may be a reference to the steamed hams sketch in "22 Short Films About Springfield", where Chalmers asks "May I see it?", in regards to the supposed aurora borealis in Skinner's kitchen, and which Skinner replies "No" to.
  • Jigsawry's flavor text in the Cafe, "Lemonade? ... Please.", is a reference to the in-universe The Itchy & Scratchy Show episode, "Porch Pals", where Scratchy asks Itchy "Lemonade?", and Itchy responds with "Please."
  • "Cungadero" is a term mentioned by Spamton, which may be a reference to The Simpsons joke, "Canyonero".
  • Mom Cat's outfit and hairstyle is evocative of those of Marge Simpson.
  • If Kris enters the shop in the Desert Board a second time, and they lack the Power Croissant, waiting long enough will get Ralsei to state "POINTs can be exchanged for goods and services." Homer Simpson states a similar quote, "Money can be exchanged for goods and services.", in the episode "Boy-Scoutz 'n the Hood".
  • Bibliox's neutral quote, "It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times.", references the typewriting monkey in "Last Exit to Springfield", who types the same phrase.

In the Spamton Sweepstakes, it is implied that Alphys made a Sympton family pack mod for Cat Petterz 2.

The Sblurfs

The Sblurfs (JP: 「スミャーフ」 Smyurf) is a TV show mentioned by Tenna in Chapter 3, during TV Time's naming sequence. Tenna jokes that Kris is only on TV Time due to not being blue enough for The Sblurfs.

The Sblurfs is a reference to The Smurfs franchise, which is about small blue humanoid creatures.

TV Time

TV Time is a Dark World game show, directed and hosted by Tenna. It is split into multiple rounds, referred to as boards, each containing a Legend of Tenna gameplay segment and a "physical challenge".

Untitled shows

Cooking show overworld.png
A cooking show

Cooking shows

Cooking shows are a type of TV program first seen in Chapter 2, while Susie is flipping through TV channels. Cooking shows are also mentioned by Tenna in Chapter 3, prior to the Cooking Show minigame. Toriel used to watch them and write down notes for the recipes to make them for her family. According to Tenna, Asriel and Kris would pretend the chefs were bungling the simplest parts, such as "overcooking the water" or "breaking the eggs".

Cowboy program

Cowboy show screenshot cancelled.png
Tenna learns that Asgore's favorite cowboy show was cancelled

The cowboy program, or cowboy show, is a TV show mentioned by Tenna in Chapter 3, in the Green Room after the completion of the Desert Board. Asgore likes the show and used to watch it together with Kris.

In the unused City Board, a quiz question confirms that the "COWBOY SHOW" is Asgore's favorite program. Another quiz question asks about the air time of "Asgore's favorite cowboy puppet show", but it is revealed that the show was cancelled. This may be a reference to Woody's Roundup, a fictional puppet show starring Woody introduced in Toy Story 2 that was similarly cancelled in the Toy Story universe.

Giant monster movie

Giant monster movie overworld.png
The giant monster movie

The giant monster movie is a movie seen in Chapter 2, after Susie finishes flipping through TV channels. It is part of the 12-hour giant monster movie special marathon. Susie implies that these types of movies involve building-bashing and car-crunching action, and she alludes to the existence of the similarly-themed "giant human movies". Due to Susie's enthusiasm for the monster marathon, Tenna makes her the star of the Monster Movie minigame in Chapter 3.

Horror web series

The untitled horror web series is a collection of online videos Noelle likes to watch. They are produced by a "guy that gets really mad about games" and feature him being attacked by a bucket with ICE-E's face on it. Noelle describes the series to be in the horror genre, though she notes that it is goofy as well. In Chapter 4, Noelle and Susie end up watching a playlist of the series together on Noelle's phone while sitting on the couch in her home.

The "guy that gets really mad about games" is likely a reference to the Angry Video Game Nerd (a.k.a. James Rolfe), who similarly produced a horror-comedy spinoff series known as Board James where the first season ends on him getting attacked by a sentient bucket; more specifically, the 90's children's tabletop game Mr. Bucket.

Music video channel

The music video channel is a TV channel first mentioned by Tenna in Chapter 3, prior to playing the Rock Video minigame in the Island Board. The channel broadcasts "nasty" songs with imagery such as alligators in bikinis, and Tenna describes it as "WILD". Toriel forbid Kris from watching the channel, installing a parental lock corresponding to the second puzzle in the parental lock rooms at one point. Dess, while at the Dreemurr house with Kris, used to swap the TV from cartoons to the music video channel and play her guitar while singing along.

In the unused City Board, one quiz question refers to the music video channel as "NASTY MUSIC VIDEOS". In Chapter 4, if Tenna is gifted to the nobody, they will comment on a "salacious music video" awakening something in them.

Other media

Lucky★Stars

Lucky★Stars (JP: 「ラッキー★スタァズ」) is a piece of media mentioned exclusively in the Japanese localization of Chapter 4, with one of Noelle's computer wallpapers being related to it.[18][19]

Lucky★Stars is a reference to the popular slice of life manga Lucky☆Star (らき☆すた), and/or its popular anime adaptation. In the English version of Deltarune, the wallpaper instead shows "some green dog puppet thing", a reference to the character GIR from the animated television series Invader Zim.
