Jongler (JP: ジョングラー) is a minigame introduced in Chapter 4 of Deltarune, available on PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch devices. Part of a collection of Mike minigames, it is hosted by Cowboy Hat Mike in the TV Studio.

Jongler requires the device's mouse and microphone controls to play.

Gameplay

A red hoop is on the right side of the screen while the SOUL sits on the left. Initially, five white cats spawn in which can be grabbed with the MAUS and tossed towards the hoop. The gravity is usually not high enough for the cats to go down, so the player must use their microphone volume to temporarily increase the gravity for them to land in the hoop. The goal is to get as many cats into the hoop within the time frame.

Cat types

Whenever a cat is put through the hoop, its color changes until it becomes red, where it cannot change color at all afterwards. Different colored cats give different amounts of points.

A white cat will also spawn whenever a cat is thrown into the hoop, for a max of 15 cats present at once.

Whenever a new cat is spawned, a message saying "I was born." will appear next to the cat counter briefly.

Combos

Combos (which are shown at the bottom of the screen whenever they are acquired,) can be achieved by throwing multiple cats into the hoop within 25 frames (~0.83 seconds) of each other. The timer until a combo is considered complete is reset whenever a cat is put into the hoop. The points a cat gives is equal to:

For example, if three white cats enter the hoop one after another, the points given are 10, 15 (because the combo is 1), and 20 (because the combo is at 2). If the player gains a combo of four cats, each succeeding cat in the combo will gain a short trail of spr_realisticexplosion.gif for of a second. For every white cat that is collected in the hoop, two seconds are added to the timer, but this is capped at a maximum of one minute.

Trophies received for Jongler depend on the player's high score.

Trivia

• The name Jongler likely comes from "jongleur" or "jongler", which is French for a "juggler" or "to juggle", given that the minigame involves tossing, or juggling, the cats.
• Jongler's namesake is referenced in Jongler's Book on Jongleing And Other Tricks found in Chapter 2.
• According to a page in holidaygirl1225's blog, JONGLER is the name of a minigame in Cat Petters, although it is unclear if that minigame is the same as the playable version of Jongler.
