Looks kind of like the desert board.

Ralsei, Chapter 3

The Island Board[1][2] (JP: アイランドパーク Island Park), also known as Kodakoda Island[3] (JP: ウツルン島), is the first half of TV Time's Round 2, and is the second board within the The Legend of Tenna minigame. It is set on a desert island, similar to the Desert Board. The goal is to reach the Atlantis stadium, by reuniting Lanino and Elnina at Lover's Peak, and taking the rainbow there.

Main story

The Island Board is the second board within Chapter 3. The goal of this board is to reunite Lanino and Elnina at Lover's Peak and uncover a path to the Atlantis Stadium. To achieve this, the party has to find a raft that they can travel to the west island with, take the lover whose attacks they didn't choose in the Desert Board into the inventory, and bring them to Lover's Peak. After a mini-boss fight with Shuttah, Lanino and Elnina reunite and form a polycule with Rouxls Kaard.

After reaching the Atlantis Stadium, the party starts the Rock Video minigame, then returns to the Green Room.

Sublocations

West Kodakoda

The party arrives at the east area of Kodakoda Island, in front of the Kodakoda Shrine and the green pool room. Tenna appears in this area to tell the party their goal is to reunite two lovers and reach the Atlantis Stadium. The room to the north contains a Shadowguy throwing projectiles at the party, to the south there is a path next to the river where another Shadowguy throws projectiles, to the west is an encounter with two Pippins, and to the east are water puzzles.

Kodakoda Shrine

The Pippins in Kodakoda Shrine

Straight left from the party's spawning point is the Kodakoda Shrine, which shows three podiums for Grand Photos. In the next room, there is a podium with a camera, which Kris can take and use to solve various puzzles. The room closes when the party leaves, opening a new passage to the left, where Pippins NPCs give hints to the party on what photos to take:

  • One mentions the cactus within the forest at the west coast.
  • One talks about Lancer digging up the green pool.
  • One talks about a flower torn in half found in the water puzzles on the east side of the island.
  • One alludes to the presence of an antlion den, where a red one can be photographed. This den is found in the stairs in the screen left of the one with the waterfall, south of the screen where Susie makes various bombs explode.

Making photos of certain entities, such as Tenna, Lanino, Elnina, each Pippins, moss, the camera building sign, the green pool building sign, the blue antlions, gives the party 10 POINTs. Making photos of Shadowguys temporarily immobilizes them, and, in the case of projectile-throwing Shadowguys, grants 10 POINTs. Taking a picture of a Shadowguy projectile deletes it, and grants 1 POINT, making it an inefficient way to gather unlimited POINTs. If enough pictures are taken of the Shadowguys located south of the party's spawn point, then special Shadowguys with bunny ears will appear in their place. Instead of throwing a projectile, they disappear quicker which makes them harder to take a photo of them, but they award 25 POINTs each and do not deplete, giving the player a source of infinite POINTs. Taking a photo of Rouxls Kaard subtracts 1 POINT.

After finding three photos, a room to the right opens, uncovering a secret raft that the party can use to visit the lost lover island and otherwise move through the sea.

Green pool

Next to the party's spawn point, there is a room with a green pool blocked by a spade with the letter "L" on it. Tenna apologizes for the green spring being blocked up, and if a photo was taken of it, he corrects himself and apologizes that the gray spring is blocked up. The party has to obtain Lancer to reach the green pool, and can take a picture of him with the camera for a Grand Photo. The green pool also heals the party's HP. The tunnel that Lancer dug out can then be followed to find a room with bonus POINTs.

Moss room

Moss location Chapter 3.png
Kris finding moss

This cave can be found northeast of the Kodakoda Shrine, past the Shadowguy area and across a bridge. On the rightmost wall, Kris can find "MOSS". Consuming it fully heals Kris's HP, changes Kris's title, and it is counted as a Secret Bonus during Round 2's Evaluation.

Inspecting it yields different dialogue depending if it was found before or after the wall gets bombed. The latter occurs if the water puzzles removes the cracked part of the wall.

Lover's Peak

In the northernmost part of the Kodakoda Island, the lover whose attacks were chosen as better in the battle against Lanino and Elnina can be found. The goal of the Island Board is to reunite the lovers. Once that is complete, a path towards the Atlantis Stadium is uncovered. After obtaining the other lover, the path backwards is blocked by statues of Tenna whenever Tenna is present.

West coast

On the west side of the island, the party can find binoculars that cost 10 POINTs to use. After using them to view the Atlantis Stadium, Susie throws them into the ocean, but they can still be used if on a raft, showing water. Further south, the party can find the cactus in the forest and take a picture of it for a Grand Photo.

Lost lover island

To reach the island where the other lover is and reunite the lovers, the party has to find a raft by completing the water puzzles at the east part of the Kodakoda Island. Once they do, they can set sail from the West Kodakoda, reach the island to the west, and convince the other lover to join them.

Pippins shop

Over the south edge of the Kodakoda Island, where a bridge crosses the river, there is an entrance to a basement area where a Pippins sells a key for 100 POINTs and a TV Dinner for 400 POINTs. Upon buying the key, the party realizes this game requires no keys, and the Pippins runs away, leaving the TV Dinner for free.

Rouxls shop

Rouxls Block item.png
Rouxls Block

Near the Pippins shop, Rouxls Kaard has lost his way and accidentally set up a shop, where he sells a block for 1 POINT. He becomes angry at the party if they buy the block. Upon leaving the shop, Tenna exclaims confusion at who that was.

Lancer

In the south area of the island, on the river's east side, a Pippins can be found selling Lancer. His initial price is 999 POINTs, but if the party has obtained the camera item from the Kodakoda Shrine, they can take a picture of the price tag to remove the first two 9s, leaving him at the price of 99 or 9 POINTs. Lancer has different reactions depending on if he was bought for either 999 POINTs, or for 99 or 9 POINTs. The party can then use Lancer to destroy the "L" block in the green pool room.

Raft room

To the east of Kodakoda Shrine is a room with a raft that they can use to cross the water from a dock tile. On the right side, a Pippins lets Kris wear a Ribbon. Going below allows seeing a puzzle, but Tenna will threaten to DOCK points and will begin subtracting one POINT a second from the party until they leave unless the puzzle has already been completed.

In the bottom left is a block with a camera indicator. Taking a picture of this block allows walking past it, and the path leads to a puzzle. This puzzle is automatically solved by Susie taking boards from the ground and throwing them into the water, making a bridge.

Water puzzle

Island Board location water puzzle.png
Solving the water puzzle as HERO_AXE. HERO_SCARF is a surfboard.

Past the puzzle that Susie solves, Tenna suddenly gets a call and needs to leave. When backtracking to the previous water puzzle, the puzzle has reset and cannot be passed, preventing backtracking to the main area. Upon continuing further, a more complicated puzzle is found. Upon seeing this puzzle, Susie swaps Kris's and her controllers, allowing Kris to solve the puzzle using Susie's character, HERO_AXE. The room also contains a bell; walking on the bell resets all boards to their original positions, allowing Kris to try again if the puzzle was failed. The bell vanishes after the puzzle is successfully solved.

While Kris solves the puzzle, Susie begins chasing HERO_SCARF (Ralsei) with HERO_SWORD (Kris). Eventually he turns into a surfboard, which can be thrown into the water interchangeably with a regular board. This is not required to solve the puzzle.

Upon solving the puzzle, Susie takes HERO_SWORD to the next room. She proceeds to enter a Pippins shop, containing a Ribbon and a Pizza Deodorant (For Nerds). If enough time passes without Kris taking either, Susie will convince Ralsei to wear the pizza deodorant, saying that Kris wants him to.

When Kris has HERO_AXE take either item, Susie gets mad, making Ralsei notice the swapped controllers. Susie then leaves the room and proceeds to the next one, engaging in an encounter with 3 Pippins. Susie then swaps the controller again, letting Ralsei control HERO_SWORD while Susie controls HERO_SCARF. Kris can then decide if they want to swap the controllers back or not. If not, Ralsei remains in control and continues to the next room.

The rooms where Kris is control of HERO_AXE contain weeds to pull for POINTs, unlike most of the Island Board; this is likely to give the player something to do while waiting for Susie to take screen transitions.

Torn flower

Grand Photo screenshot flower.png
The torn flower Grand Photo from vacationmemories.png

The room after the 3 Pippins encounter is a T junction. To the right is a dead end containing the "flower torn in half" that is needed for a Grand Photo. Continuing north then west leads to another simple water puzzle. If controls were swapped back, the bell does not do anything, and Susie solves the puzzle uninterrupted.

If Ralsei is in control of HERO_SWORD, he deliberates for a while before going right, and after fumbling with the controls, takes the photo of the golden flower on his own. Afterwards, he heads to the water puzzle; after Kris solves the puzzle, he goes down the stairs.

Some of these rooms contain blue flower tiles which can be pulled up for POINTs in the same way as weeds. Flowers are worth 20 POINTs each. A weed tile in the upper right area of the room in the right respawns infinitely, and can be pulled up repeatedly to farm POINTs. Susie does not pull weeds on her own on the Island Board, so they can only be dug up while Kris controls HERO_AXE.

Conch coast

Island Board location conch coast.png
Holding the conch as HERO_AXE

North of the torn flower room is a shoreline where a cracked conch and nine pluckable weeds can be found. If Kris is in control of HERO_AXE, they can pick up the conch and toss it anywhere to break it, including into the water. Picking it up and allowing the screen to transition does not break it.

If the conch shell is left intact, it can be inspected with HERO_SWORD, which mentions the conch is surrounded by "WASHED UP GLASS", and that no one wanted it. Choosing to listen to the conch acknowledges it repeating the sound of the ocean.[4] Declining causes the narration to describe that the ocean can still be heard.[5]

Bomb room

Down the staircase in the last water puzzle is a room containing a switch that spawns bombs when pressed. If controls are still swapped, Susie swaps them back to normal upon seeing the bombs. Susie throws the bombs, destroying cracked walls to the left and bottom.

The room south is an antlion den, which contains several antlions that pop in and out of the sand, moving around rapidly. One antlion is red; taking a photo of it gives a Grand Photo. Taking photos of other antlions awards 10 POINTs.

The room to the left is the moss room; shortly after entering it, Tenna returns to watch the party.

Pippins Island

Once the party obtains the raft from Kodakoda Shrine, they can go to the east to find two Pippins on an island. One of them asks Kris if they want to play a money game, but soon realize that Tenna is looking and jump into the water. If Tenna is currently missing from the party, the Pippins instead say that it is time for an unsanctioned break.

Tropic of Love

SOUTH OF THE BORDER!! soundtrack.png
Kris, Susie, and Ralsei at the Tropic of Love

Moving past the Pippins island, the party finds a heart-shaped island with red-colored palms. When interacting with one of the palms, they all start pulsating in rainbow colors while the track SOUTH OF THE BORDER!! plays. Upon leaving the island, the palms move into the air. Tenna asks the party if they think the Tropic of Love was cool, to which nobody responds.

Lawnmower minigame

To the northwest from the lost lover island is an area with a lawnmower and patches of grass surrounded by blocks. If Tenna is present, pushing the lawnmower starts a timer and new patches of grass start growing. After that, pushing the lawnmower into the grass will cut it down, earning POINTs for each patch.

Leftover

In the northeastern area of the map there is an entrance blocked by weed, that Tenna comments is a leftover, presumably from the Original Game.

North

Reaching the northernmost area of the map with the raft shows white sand blocks while Tenna tells Mike to cut that part and the party is transported back to the lost lover island. A wall of signs is then erected, preventing entrance. Once Tenna leaves the seating area, upon creating the rainbow bridge, the player can return, and Susie will then throw a sign, giving access to the north part of the map again. The player can also enter the area without the sign wall present, if the player does not cause Tenna to transport the player back.

Going past the white sand blocks a second time reveals a set of pathways. The only pathway that does not lead to a dead end, the north east pathway, is blocked off by a tree. Susie comments on the tree and as the party travels back south, Ralsei and Susie discuss what could have been behind the tree. Susie states she would have enjoyed seeing what was past the tree, but Ralsei is apprehensive. Susie questions him, and Ralsei remarks he was worried there would be trouble.

Trivia

  • Given the importance of cameras to this board's mechanics, Kodakoda Island's name is likely a reference to the Kodak company, which was once one of the world's largest film and camera manufacturers during the 20th century.
  • The preview screen's sprite is a retouched version of an already edited stock photo of a beach in Varadero, Cuba, taken then retouched by photographer Oleksandra Melnychuk.[6][7]
