Flower Cafe

From Deltarune Wiki
(Redirected from Break)

Flower Cafe is a sub-location in Flower Castle. It is a place for the party and any recruits gained to relax throughout the latter half of the chapter, and to hang out with every member of the seven flowers (including Pink and excluding Flowery). This is the only location that accepts Flowery Dollars as currency. Additionally, any recruits are found seated at the south tables. Green is located at the counter, but disappears during a hangout.

Main story

After Flowery gives the party drink vouchers, the "Talk" option on the vending machine is replaced with "FreeDrink". Susie instantly downs her drink and asks if she can have a sip of Kris's. The player is then given a choice as to whether to stop her, which is a quick time event.

If "Stop her!!!" is selected within ~1 second, Kris bites the other end of their straw, prompting Susie to give up drinking theirs. Otherwise, Susie drinks Kris's as well, and Ralsei offers his drink to Kris. Kris downs it with a reverse splat noise. Susie calls Kris a weirdo for doing so.

By interacting with a table in the cafe, conversations between the flowers and party members can be viewed. Each conversation costs F$20 to see for the first time, and can be replayed for free.

If enemies were defeated violently, certain characters will not hang out, including characters whose conversations have already been viewed, or were available before enemies were attacked violently. This may reflect the flowers' ties with certain recruits. Aqua supposedly dismisses this and always hangs out, regardless of the player's actions. Specifically:

Character Requirements
Aqua None.
Seth Orange and Green were battled in the east wing.

Neither Shi nor Shinobeetle was LOST. Seth was spared at the Cliffs' end.

Yellow Yellow and Blue were battled in the west wing.

Shi was not LOST.

Green Green was befriended in Diner 2 in the east wing.

Terakota was not LOST.

Blue Yellow and Blue were battled in the west wing.

Sheary was not LOST.

Orange Pink was battled in her room.

Neither Shi nor Netskie was LOST.

Pink Pink was battled in her room.
Party members None.

The hangout is accessible only if requirements were fulfilled for both characters, with no exceptions. There are some additional constraints, however:

  • Aqua & Seth: All six flowers and Pink were battled either at the end of the Cliffs or in their respective parts of the Castle.
  • Seth & Susie: Yellow's requirements were also fulfilled.
  • Yellow & Blue: A cutscene was viewed where Orange dealt 0 damage to the party.

Aqua & Kris

Aqua is excited to be blue knife friends with Kris, and asks them to change their shape. Kris is given the choice between the doctor and nurse costumes from Virovirokun's "TakeCare" and "TakeCareX" ACTs, and a second choice between outfits based on Aqua and Yellow. Aqua then asks Kris to do magic, and the options of Heal Prayer and Rude Buster are given. Selecting either will put Kris in a costume based on the spell with an accompanying splat sound effect, which causes them to blush and Aqua to shake her head in discomfort.

Aqua & Seth

Flower Tea Time screenshot hammers.png
Yellow stating they are going to beat Seth with hammers for their crimes

Aqua says that she is a girl, and asks Seth if they are a girl or a boy. When Seth refuses to tell her, she asks if they do not know the answer, which causes Seth to become flustered. Orange appears to say that she is a girl and Yellow is a boy, after which Yellow appears alongside Green and clarifies that he is a cowboy, and that Green is a chef. Finally, Blue dances over to reassure Seth that whether they have an answer or not, it is all "a beauty of the kaleidoscope of life." Seth is happy to have the support of their friends, and Yellow tells them that, no matter what they are, they are all going to beat Seth with hammers for owing $5 to Green. Seth runs out of the room and is pursued by the four flowers who entered the conversation, leaving Aqua alone at the table, giggling.

Aqua & Yellow

Yellow tells Aqua that playing with knives is never a justice, and that real "justice" is playing with "gun's." He gifts her a yellow pistol with a bow on it, which Aqua is excited to go show to Seth. Yellow is simply glad to help Aqua be more proper.

Aqua & Green

Aqua asks Green to show her how to use the "origin of fire", as Seth had told Aqua to be more like Green. Green responds by flinging a large piece of cheese onto Aqua's head with their frying pan. It seems to confuse Aqua at first, but after realizing it is food and using her teeth, she finds it amazing and decides to keep it in her mouth to show to others.

Aqua & Blue

Flower Tea Time screenshot love.png
Blue explaining to Aqua what love is

Aqua eagerly asks Blue what love is, to which Blue responds by giving a poetic, flowery explanation of love making the world revolve and being the butterflies in one's heart. After thinking about it, Aqua decides that she loves throwing things at people, which Blue finds beautiful, and Seth (who runs in as Blue is speaking) does not.

Aqua & Orange

Aqua tells Orange that she can barely recognize her because of how human Orange looks, which excites Orange and causes her to gloat about how trained and strong she looks. Aqua notes Orange's large and swollen trained hands, but is corrected by Orange telling her that they are gloves. Without swollen and round hands, Aqua decides that Orange does not look human, which Orange protests.

Seth & Ralsei

The two of them take turns complaining about Flowery and what he does that bothers them, including explaining things poorly, telling people things they should not know, and acting like he knows more than he does. Seth is happy to be understood, and declares that the two of them should be the leaders. Ralsei initially agrees, before realizing that he actually does not want to be the leader. Embarrassed, Seth asks if Ralsei would instead like to trade glasses or if Ralsei likes birds, to which Ralsei responds that he "[likes] the yellow bird that shows up during Jevil's ACT."

Seth & Susie

Seth invites Susie to join the flowers and notes her intelligence, which confuses Susie. Seth directs her to look at the flowers' side, after which Yellow briefly appears to tell Seth that he can no longer find his ice cream after putting it in the microwave, and Seth tells Susie that she would easily be one of the top three smartest if she joined. Ralsei remarks that Berdly also likes Susie, which Susie immediately refutes and clarifies that she does not like Berdly. Seth reacts with indignance to both of these statements, but still invites Susie to the flowers' side. Yellow returns after this, having managed to find his cream, which is now steam. In the end, Susie decides that she is good with not being a member of the flowers.

Seth & Yellow

Flower Tea Time screenshot ranch.png
Yellow carrying Ralsei, who is in a horse costume, and Seth

Seth tells Yellow that he needs a ranch to become a better cowboy. Green promptly appears and throws a bottle of ranch dressing onto the table, to Seth's anger. They tell Yellow that he needs "'regular ranch' for cowboys", to which Green responds by generating a bottle of "Regular Ranch Dressing". Seth says he is "all set", but backtracks and states Yellow needs a horse to ride as well. Everyone then looks at Ralsei. The scene cuts to the Wild West, where Seth, smiling, rides horse Ralsei, who is in turn being carried by Yellow. Seth says this is definitely what Yellow is supposed to do.

Seth & Green

Seth gives Green orders, but when they tell Green to take out the pan, Green throws it too hard. Seth questions how "the two of them" can work together, revealing that Orange is pulling Green's hair Ratatouille style. Orange suggests controlling Green via some other method, to which Seth agrees. Aqua appears upon Seth's head and begins pulling their hair, walking them to the left.

Seth & Blue

Seth calls Blue overemotional, to which Blue agrees. Blue then retaliates, calling Seth's overanalysis "cringe". Seth starts crying, and Blue apologizes. Aqua runs in from the left, jumps onto Seth's head, and says she thinks it is good that they are "cringe" because it makes her wants to throw rocks at them, giggling. Orange appears upon hearing "throwing rocks" and asks to help. Yellow declares throwing rocks "a violence" and states he will arrest the rocks before they hurt anyone.

Seth & Orange

Seth shows Orange an ideal sketch of her form as a human, to which Orange responds angrily by saying it does not look like her at all. Seth, shocked, asks themselves why Orange is mad. Blue pirouettes in from the left and tells Seth to see Orange's beauty in her current self. Orange calls Seth a bully for not drawing her abs. Yellow appears and accuses Seth of not drawing a smiley face on the sun. Orange calls Seth a jerk.

Yellow & Ralsei

Ralsei asks Yellow if he has any smoked herbs like oregano. Yellow misunderstands and calls Ralsei's supposed "smoking herbs" illegal. He says that herbs are their friends and calls smoking herbs "cannonballism", with the exception of parsley. Aqua appears and calls for the stabbing and cutting of parsley, saying "Nap! Stab! Look!" among her cries. Yellow responds by saying that justice "does turn a blind eye to parsley".

Yellow & Green

Green cooks up a cereal. Yellow says he is able to tell what message Green is trying to convey through the food, and says that the cereal says "ooooooooo". Susie states she has heard that before. Seth runs in and claims that the gaps between the cereal is a type of "morsel code", after which Aqua appears holding what appears to be a conch and states that the stuffed shell has the ocean talking to her in it.

Yellow & Blue

Blue states that every moment in the dream is of bliss, using words like "magnifique" and "resplendent". Yellow says he does not understand, but calls the words "durn purdy" and says that he will be protecting Blue, after which Blue calls him a hero. Seth exclaims that all Yellow did was arrest them, but Aqua states that Yellow "let [her] play with matches", which Seth calls "villainous". Orange says Yellow edited Seth's drawings to have smiles on them, at which Seth falls to the ground holding her head and shouts that those were their tactical diagrams. Yellow then says, "Aww, shucks! (said for corn reasons)".

Yellow & Orange

Yellow says Orange is missing something to be human; namely, a hat which he puts on Orange. Yellow says she looks perfect, and Orange responds by saying that she is Yellow. Yellow, befuddled, asks Orange who he is. Orange admits she was joking, calls Yellow a dummy, and tells him that he is, in fact, Yellow. Yellow questions this since Orange "gots the hat".

Green

Green waves to the recruits below and possibly to the player, receiving applause from Ralsei and Susie.

Green & Orange

Flower Tea Time screenshot Starwalker.png
Ralsei and Susie reacting to the "unoriginal" Starwalker

Orange exclaims that she and Green finally have some time to themselves, since Blue and Yellow are "sweet and sappy" and Aqua and Seth are "always making trouble". Orange then says that Green always has her back when she is alone because she loves to eat, and Green is a chef. Green becomes nervous, and Ralsei and Susie emerge from behind and thank Green for the food they made behind Orange's back. If Starwalker was found, he appears and says he "also                        joined"; Orange responds by saying she has a Starwalker of her own, revealing a miniature Starwalker. Ralsei and Susie call it "not original", ending the hangout. If he was not found, Aqua, Seth, and a Floradinn also emerge from behind Green, thanking them for the food. Orange, infuriated, questions Green, who denies making food behind their back, but admits they made food behind Orange's back. The food appears, and Orange compliments Green.

Blue & Susie

Blue asks Susie if love ails her, since each step leaves imprints of hooves. Susie says she does not know what love is, and that it is hard for her to define it. She then recounts memories of her date with Noelle and calls them embarrassing. Blue reassures her that "if even a flower can love, so can [she]". He then proceeds to say that even if the shape of love can change, all that is needed is to let it step forward and guide her. Susie concludes that she wants to try.

Blue & Orange

Orange asks Blue to give her a famous advice. Blue tells her to move like a butterfly, then sting like a bee. Orange says she needs wings and a stinger like humans, which Blue responds to by saying "humanity is in the eyes of the beholder". Orange, alerted, asks how many eyes she is supposed to have. Aqua appears and shows her three eyes, shocking Orange, who asks if it is not two. Aqua then shows one big eye instead. Orange is infuriated and tells her not to just say random numbers. Seth appears and agrees that that was what they were trying to tell her. Aqua says Seth has four eyes, which Seth takes as an insult, but it turns out that Aqua and Yellow took it seriously.

Blue & Orange 2

Orange asks Blue if he has seen her spare gloves. Blue admits he took them, but only to craft her an unforgettable gift. Orange, though pleased initially, asks Blue to change them back. Blue, saying maybe Yellow would like them better, takes the gloves and pirouettes off-screen.

Blue & Orange 3

Orange inquires Blue on the path of a human champion. Blue says it comes from defeating the mind's shadow, man's greatest adversary. Orange takes this too literally and thinks she has to beat up her own brain. Aqua suggests she use knives, Yellow suggests she use "gun's", and Seth, calling them all idiots, says that Orange has two hands and can use both.

Blue & Green

Blue tells Green that they convey messages through their food. Green then displays some cheese, which Blue interprets as "cheese". Green conjures cheese in the shape of "you owe me $2", which Blue still interprets as "cheese". Green changes the shape to say "$2". Blue calls Green "talkative" and calls on yellow to take over, absconding the room. Yellow asks why the dollars are in the shape of cheese, saying that they should belong in a bank, which Green promptly conjures, albeit from cheese. Yellow crawls inside, and Green turns the cheese back into a regular cheese, trapping Yellow inside. Blue returns and asks Green where Yellow is. Green shrugs, and Yellow says he does not know, but found two dollars in the cheese.

Orange & Susie

Susie tells Orange that it is okay to be different, causing Orange to think that she is being insulted. Susie wonders why Orange wants to be a human so bad, and finds out that all the flowers decided to be human. Orange gets defensive and tries to explain why she may not look like a human, with Susie clarifying that she thinks that whatever Orange is "[is] cool". Orange stops being annoyed at Susie, apologizing for calling her a bully. Susie accepts the apology, saying that she is used to it, to which Orange replies, "Well, get not used to it!". Susie tells Orange that she is "getting there".

Orange & Ralsei

Ralsei says Susie was pulling his ear to have him talk to Orange. Ralsei apologizes for calling Orange a mouse, but Orange insults Ralsei, calling him a "big ugly rat". Orange says Ralsei's name starts with R and has big floppy ears, and tells him that he does not even have boxing gloves or headwear, which supposedly most humans do. Ralsei, annoyed and angry, calls it the "Ralsei needs a hat thing" again, and, displaying his paw pads, calls himself "CUTE!". Orange, frightened to tears, admits that Ralsei is cute.

Pink & Orange

Flower Tea Time screenshot Pink welcome.png
The six flowers welcoming Pink to the team

Pink introduces herself to all the flowers, saying that she is "not a 'real' flower, but..." wants to join them anyway. Aqua appears and asks Orange whether Pink likes "throwing knives", to which Orange replies, "Of course! And BOMBS! She's the BEST!" Blue, Seth, and Yellow also appear, encouraging Pink, after which Green appears and holds up a sign saying "Welcome Pink". All the flowers then invite Pink "to the team", causing her to burst into tears and thank them.

Pink & Kris

Pink begins by calling Kris a "blue idiot". Aqua thinks Pink is referring to her and appears from the right. Pink says she has something to tell Kris, and Seth pushes Aqua off-screen, saying "Not you...". Pink blushes and admits her body still "feels doki's for [Kris]". Pink says nothing can get in the way of true love, and her body attempts to date. Susie and Ralsei appear, holding cups of juice. Susie asks Pink if she knows that Kris flirts with EVERY enemy, Ralsei states they were just ACTing to win the battle, Susie tells Kris they really went too far, and Ralsei comforts Kris by saying no one else ever took the flirts seriously. With each piece of information, Pink becomes more and more flustered and astonished, and her body blows up, its love malfunctioning. Pink asks what Kris did to her body, and Kris can respond by saying either they were serious or they had to win. If the former is chosen, Pink becomes angry and says no one has the right to blow her up except herself, summons a giant blue bomb, and does so. If the latter is chosen, Kris poses, Pink insults them even harder, and Pink uses her "ultimate weapon", bringing out a MichaelBomb; Pink asks what the heck this is, the screen cuts to black, and "RESET." is spelled in all caps. Kris returns to the cafe.

Trivia

  • Aqua & Blue's break mentions "a revolution, written in feathered pen, clashed by feathered sword." This is likely in reference to both the Winglade Darkner and item.
  • Seth & Ralsei's break has Ralsei mention Jevil, even if he has not been encountered.
  • Seth & Yellow's break features a scene where the former carries Ralsei in his horse costume and Seth on his back along a vast, empty background. The scene is similar to the [S] Ride. animation in the webcomic Homestuck.
  • Seth & Green's break is a reference to the film Ratatouille, where a rat guides a chef by pulling his hair.
    • This interaction's name could be a reference to actor Seth Green.
