Deltarune developers

From Deltarune Wiki
(Redirected from Audrey Waner)

The developers of Deltarune are the people responsible for creating the game. Due to its length and complexity, Deltarune has a much larger development team than Undertale. It consists of both a team working on the game full-time, and several "guest" artists and programmers sporadically contributing.

Development leads

Toby Fox

Toby Fox is the lead developer, writer, and composer of Deltarune. He is best known for creating the 2015 game Undertale, to which Deltarune is considered a "parallel story". His plan for Deltarune predates the creation of Undertale since 2011 as a sickness-induced dream that depicts an ending.[3] He had developed Chapter 1 by himself, but realized it would be impossible to create Deltarune without a full development team.[4]

Toby composes the vast majority of his games' soundtracks. He originally composed many of his songs on the piano first until 2016.[5] Toby was self-taught on playing the piano, and admits that his wrist pains may have been due to not learning the proper technique.[6][7] He uses FL Studio to create his music, and the metadata of some song files shows the specific version to be FL Studio 10,[8] which he has been using since 2011.[9]

During Chapter 1's development, Toby had begun seriously learning Japanese to further help Keiko Fukuichi with smoother translations, and occasionally offered ideas such as first person pronouns.[10] He had initially thought it was too hard to learn Japanese, though since learning it, has enjoyed using it every day from 2019 onwards.[11] Despite Toby's involvement in the Japanese translation, he apparently considers his input as a reference.[12] As of Chapter 5's development, Toby also helps with translating jokes by offering annotations.[13] He has expressed an interest in translating in other languages if he is able to translate similarly to how he has done with Japanese, but admits it is not possible at this time for Deltarune.[14]

Toby uses MS Paint to create graphics and concept art,[15] including for the official Newsletter.[16]

As of September 2020, Toby explained how other team members were involved with programming, and that he was suffering from a disability in his wrist that was impeding development.[17] Due to his wrist issues, he no longer directly does programming for Deltarune as of 2025, though he will sometimes verbally tell someone how something should be coded.[18]

When Toby needs to explain the story of a Chapter to the Deltarune team, he apparently acts out the entire script of the Chapter himself, doing character voices and playing the appropriate music for each scene.[19][20] Whenever Temmie is unsure of what Toby wants for a character's animation, he may also reenact it.[21]

He is represented in both Undertale and Deltarune as the recurring Annoying Dog, which often appears in comedic situations in both games. Toby also wears an Annoying Dog suit for the Deltarune trailers.[22] Outside of the games, he has used the Annoying Dog to represent himself in social media, and announcements of his collaborations. This includes Touhou Danmaku Kagura Phantasia Lost.[23]

Outside of developing Undertale and Deltarune, he is known for his work on the music team for the webcomic Homestuck, as well as for contributing music to several other video games, including Pokémon Sword & Shield,[24] Pokémon Scarlet & Violet,[25] OMORI, and YIIK.[26] He has also released original music in collaboration with the singer Itoki Hana, and been featured on the albums U.U.F.O. by Camellia[27] and pale machine 2 by bo en.[28]

Robert Sephazon

The producers M.O. is, "for the fan's sake, let's finish this before we become old and wrinkled" ... I agree! (instantly stops being wrinkled)

Toby quoting Robert Sephazon, Spring 2024 Undertale/Deltarune Newsletter

Robert "Sephazon" Maloney is the producer of Deltarune, and was hired by Toby around October 2023 during Chapter 3 and 4's development.[30] He primarily works on team organization, task management, and publishing guidance.[31] As early as May 2024, Robert's management has improved the team's productivity.[32] While he was initially unnamed in the newsletters, Robert later revealed his role as the producer on the game's paid release on June 4, 2025.[33]

For the UNDERTALE 10th Anniversary Stream, Robert was the producer and had conceptualized the Memories project.[34] He has also occasionally travelled to attend some of the UNDERTALE 10th Anniversary Concerts in Japan.[35]

Outside of Deltarune, Robert has helped produce other independently-developed games. He was the producer of two action-adventure games, where he worked with similar teams during its development: the Another Metroid 2 Remake fan game in 2016,[36] and Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus from 2021 to 2024.[37] He was the port producer for the 2022 Curse Crackers: For Whom the Belle Toils platformer,[38] and was also the producer and publishing lead of Paper Trail, a 2024 adventure puzzle game.[39] Robert has also participated in Game jams on itch.io where he has contributed and designed three small games, all with various teams: Babilawn, a tower defense game made for Extra Credits Game Jam 6, Helm's Oddity, a Game Boy Color-styled dungeon crawler for GMTK Game Jam 2021, and The Forest's End, a Metroidvania-styled game for Metroidvania Month 31 x Magical Girl Game Jam 13.

Prior to producing video games, Robert has done various work in the video game industry, primarily for Nintendo. He entered the field after being inspired by Iwata Asks, which are segments where Satoru Iwata interviewed developers of Nintendo hardware and games.[40] Robert has an interest in journalism, interviewing, video games and development history as far as 2013.[41] Some of his works includes making over 200 gaming review articles, modified or written 400 online publications, organized and directed a gaming stream, has done multiple interviews in the gaming industry, and worked with public relation organizations.[42] These articles and publications are scattered across multiple news and fan community sites, such as Zelda Universe.[43]

In between 2006 through 2014, Robert also ran a YouTube channel that was centered around Pokémon, with collaborations between other YouTubers such as Marriland and Chuggaaconroy via Nuzlocke Challenges or playing versus them, playthroughs, community interviews, and talking about Nintendo. However, he officially retired from the channel in February 2014, and his channel's videos are no longer publicly accessible. In 2014, Robert was hired as an external contractor at The Pokémon Company International, and worked as a coordinator for the Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions concerts, where he also attended a few.[36][44] In 2016, Robert was hired as a Miiverse Community Insights Specialist for Nintendo of America, which he cites as the inciting incident that led him to eventually move to Japan and become a video game producer.[45] In the same year, he also became a part of the Professor Program to judge Play! Pokémon video game events such as tournaments or championships.[46]

In 2017 to 2020, he contributed articles to the Nintendo-focused news website Nintendo Life.[47] and translated Famitsu columns by Masahiro Sakurai into English.[48] For translations, Robert is meticulous and thorough to ensure it is accurate, going so far as to verify with other associates.[49] After his work at Nintendo Life ended, he continued to be credited for his translations of Japanese interviews on Video Game Chronicles[50] and Nintendo Life.[51]

Aside from his main interests, he also designs Harajuku fashion as a hobby.[52]

Artists

Temmie Chang

Temmie Chang is the main artist and animator for Undertale and Deltarune. She also illustrated the borders for the console versions.[57] For the UNDERTALE 10th Anniversary Stream, Temmie is credited as being the main artist.

She uses a Wacom Intuos to draw, and uses the program Krita for drawings, Adobe Animate and After Effects for animations, and GraphicsGale for pixel art.[58]

She is represented in both Undertale and Deltarune as the NPC monster Temmie. The Temmie character's design and personality was based on Temmie Chang's avatar and typing style at the time of Undertale's development. Temmie's avatar at the time was based on a drawing by Temmie's friend Betty Kwong, who is credited in both Undertale and Deltarune for creating the design.[58]

Outside of her work on Undertale and Deltarune, she has developed her own games, these being Escaped Chasm and Dweller's Empty Path, both of which Toby Fox contributed music to. She has also created a webcomic titled Soul Beacon of the Netherworld, and has a YouTube channel where she has posted several animations and a small number of song covers. She is a fan of the MMO game Final Fantasy XIV, frequently posting fanart of it on social media, and according to her interview often tries to get Toby to play it.[58]

There have apparently been a few times where she has forgotten that she made an asset for the game and said that it looks nice, only to be told that she was the one who drew it.[58]

Her favorite characters from Deltarune are Susie and Jevil.[58]

Gigi D.G.

Gigi D.G. is a writer and artist known for creating the webcomic Cucumber Quest and the fantasy visual novel Soul of Sovereignty. On Deltarune, they serve as a concept artist. Gigi was also a playtester and artist for Undertale, and drew pieces of promotional artwork that were used for the game's Steam trading cards and merchandise, such as Mettaton's poster.

Gigi's Deltarune concept art that has been publicly shown has mostly been of areas, including the Cyber World and an early concept for the TV Time stage in Chapter 3. They are also known to have created concept art for the character designs of at least Kris, Susie, and Tenna.[60] They have stated that of the concept art they have created for the game, they are most proud of their work on Chapter 3, and that they also enjoy when they get to put the main characters in new outfits.[61]

Their favorite characters from Deltarune are Susie, Noelle, and Ralsei. Their least favorite character is Rouxls Kaard, who they had such a negative reaction to during testing that Toby feared he would be a widely hated character.[61]

Many of Gigi's Chapter 3 and 4 concept arts are featured in the WINTER 2025 Newsletter.[62][63] In a Tumblr post tag, Gigi expresses disbelief that most of the environment concepts they worked on for these Chapters were painted on Procreate.[64] In a Bluesky post, Gigi considers the concepts arts of Tenna and Susie particularly important, where Susie gets a word censored.[65]

Kanotynes

Kanotynes is an artist and directly influenced the designs for Lancer, Rudinn, Hathy, Clover, King, and Jevil. Each of these designs, with the exception of Jevil, predates the development of Deltarune, being created as a project for Kanotynes's design class.[66] In April 2012, Toby Fox saw Kanotynes' post of these playing card designs, which inspired to make a game featuring them,[67][68] and he sought her permission to use them.[69] She is not an active member of the Deltarune team. Kanotynes's card designs are available as official merchandise.[70]

Nelnal

Nelnal (JP: ネルナル) is a Japanese illustrator, and the character designer for Sweet Cap'n Cakes, Tasque Manager,[71] and Lanino and Elnina.[72] They have also designed official merchandise of Sweet Cap'n Cakes for Fangamer.[73]

In the ISSUE 4 - Autumn 2023 issue of the Newsletter, Nelnal spoke briefly about their work on Chapter 2. They recalled feeling "completely dumbstruck" when Toby contacted them with a work request, and said that their work on Deltarune was the first time that they had been so inspired by an assignment.[73]

When designing Sweet Cap'n Cakes, they had initially only been asked to design a single music-based character. They provided three design options for this, but Toby liked all three designs and struggled to choose, so the concept was split into three characters.[74] Nelnal also created several other designs outside of the three that became Sweet Cap'n Cakes, but these have currently never been publicly shown.[73]

Outside of Deltarune, they have worked as a concept artist and illustrator for several properties, such as illustrating several cards for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, and creating character designs for the game RATATAN. They are also known for work they have posted with their own original characters, and in 2024 published an art book featuring this work.[75]

Splendidland

Samanthuel Louise Gillson, better known as Splendidland, is an artist and the character designer for Poppup, Ambyu-Lance, Hacker, and Fommt. She also created concept art for some areas in the Cyber World, such as the concept art for Spamton's house,[76] and designed several characters that ultimately went unused.[77] She additionally provided pixel art assistance for Chapter 3.

Outside of Deltarune, she has developed several of her own games, including Megaman Sprite Game (which was based on her comic series Megaman Sprite Comic),[78] FRANKEN, and Formless Star. She created the first Don't Talk To Me Or My Son Ever Again meme.

Chess

Tcheska Lynn B, also known as Chess, is an artist, streamer, and hobbyist game developer. She has assisted Toby with various aspects of game development since late in the development of Undertale.[20] In Deltarune, she has been responsible for several miscellaneous things, including making the original sprites for Kris and Susie's Dark World forms, designing Berdly's Dark World form,[77] and assisting with cutscenes in all currently existing Chapters from Chapter 2 onwards.

The first thing she worked on for Deltarune was creating the base sprites for Kris and Susie's Dark World forms, based off of Gigi D.G.'s character designs, which Temmie would later work off of for the rest of their sprites. These sprites consisted of overworld sprites for Susie and an idle battle sprite for Kris, in addition to a "way overdone" concept for Kris's attacking animation.[20]

Her favorite character to make things for during the development of Chapter 2 was Queen, who she worked on several cutscenes involving, as well as being responsible for creating the sprites for the GIGA Queen battle.[20]

Everdraed

Everdraed is an artist and video editor, who has a distinct photobashing-based style. He edits video trailers and other promotional material for Undertale and Deltarune, in addition to creating the assets for Undertale's Omega Flowey battle.

Within the Deltarune game itself, he is credited for creating Photoshop edits and "Weird Anim" for Chapter 3 and being responsible for the various photographic assets used in that Chapter. Everdraed also edited the video for Tenna's intro animation,[60] and animated Tenna's "Word Art".[79]

For the UNDERTALE 10th Anniversary Stream, Everdraed was the creative lead for the project,[80] and had originally wanted to have the 10th Anniversary Logo as the Annoying Dog playing the piano, but from a front-view angle.[81]

PIXELATEDCROWN

Chelsea Saunders, also known as PIXELATEDCROWN, is a 2D and 3D artist and game developer. In Deltarune, she was first credited as assisting with cutscenes in Chapter 2. More prominently, in Chapter 3, she created the 3D assets and renders used in Tenna's sprites,[82] though she was not involved in creating Tenna's character design.[83] She also animated Tenna's intro animation.[82] She continued to assist with cutscenes in Chapter 4.

Pixelatedcrown was also responsible for the creation of the 3D Toriel model used in some promotional material for Undertale.[82] A model of Ralsei in a similar style appears in Tenna's intro animation, which Chelsea credits Toby's original art as being helpful for creating it.[84]

Outside of Deltarune, Chelsea has done 2D and 3D arts ranging from characters, props, and environments. She has developed many small prototype games, and two games for Google in 2017, including the 3D puzzle game Kintsukuroi. She has a currently-paused game named PROTOWORLD, which has a demo showcasing player movement and character abilities.

Audrey Waner

Audrey Waner is a mixed media artist and graphic designer. In Deltarune, she did the typography design for the word art that appears throughout Tenna's dialogue, as well as the logo for TV Time.[85][60]

Outside of her work on Deltarune directly, she is also a designer for Fangamer, having designed a number of pieces of merchandise for the company, including several items based on Undertale and Deltarune. For the UNDERTALE 10th Anniversary Stream, Audrey made the final 10th Anniversary logo.[86][81]

Smallbu Animation

Smallbu Animation is a husband-and-wife animation team, consisting of Alex Small-Butera and Lindsay Caroline Small-Butera. They provided animation and editing assistance for Chapters 3 and 4 of Deltarune. Specifically, they assisted with the posing in Tenna's introduction cinematic in Chapter 3,[60] and created the animations of Kris playing the piano and the Titan's hand in Chapter 4.[87]

Outside of Deltarune, Smallbu Animation has animated the various versions of the UNDERTALE 10th Anniversary Stream logos.[88]

Smallbu Animation is best known for creating the web series Baman Piderman, and co-developing the 2019 game Later Alligator, which they created the animation for. They have also worked on a number of animated television shows, including Adventure Time, The Owl House, and Smiling Friends, with Lindsay winning an Emmy award for "Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation" for her work on the Adventure Time episode "Ketchup".[89]

Clairvoire

Clairvoire (spelled in the credits as Clairevoire) is an artist who handled pixel cleanup of Tenna's sprites,[60][90] as well as general pixel art assistance in Chapter 4. In Undertale, Clairvoire also drew the dog food in Alphys's lab.[91]

puppiesandanime

Shawn Martins, also known as puppiesandanime, is a pixel artist and animator that is credited with "Pixel Art Assistance" for Chapter 2. He contributed spritework for Swatch's shop background with the posing Swatchlings and Spamton's dialogue sprites and his shop background.[92] Both are based on Gigi's and Toby's concept arts respectively, which Shawn had closely followed.[93][94] He also did spritework for the exteriors of Seam's shop, the Cafe and its interior, Party Dojo, and the Top Bakery, which was based on concept art as well.[95]

Outside of Deltarune, the types of pixel arts he has done for a variety of art for other games such as Duelyst II, and Flynn: Son of Crimson. This includes VFX animation, character animations, environment design, and lead art designs. In 2020, Shawn developed a pixel platforming game called Brave Dog's Road to learn about development. He is currently contributing as a senior pixel artist to an upcoming independently made turn-based JRPG called Threads of Time.[96]

Kenju

Kenju is credited for "Pixel Art Assistance" for Chapter 2, and had created of some of the tiles for Queen's Mansion.[97]

Programmers

Sarah O'Donnell

every time i worked on a scene with the snack tray in ch4 it made me want a cheesed cracker

Sarah O'Donnell, Undertale/Deltarune Newsletter Winter 2025

Sarah O'Donnell is a member of Deltarune's main development team. She handled porting the original Chapter 1 demo to consoles in 2019,[98] and has continued working on the game during the development of every Chapter as of Chapter 4.[99] She also handled porting Undertale to the Xbox One.

Outside of Deltarune, she has developed several of her own games, which she has published on itch.io. Sarah is also an artist who has drawn several comics, which have been published in a variety of anthologies and publications.[100] She has an interest in hydroponic gardening.

For Chapters 3 and 4, Sarah programmed most of the cutscenes. She also handled implementing for localization, patches, and building the game for every platform, and helped with testing and organization. Specifically for Chapter 4, she had to remake the Noelle's House sequence three times.[62]

Taxiderby

Taxiderby is a programmer and a member of Deltarune's main development team. During Chapter 2's development they primarily worked on enemy bullet patterns, but now work on a variety of things.[20]

Prior to working on Deltarune, Taxiderby was notable in the Undertale fanbase for creating Undertale RED, which was one of the earliest Undertale fan games.[103] They also approved of and helped write dialogue for Red's cameo in the fan-developed Undertale Yellow.[104] Taxiderby also develops their own original games, such as Moment to Midnight and the currently on-hiatus pixelated "pseudo-RPG", Rainshade.[105]

For Chapter 2, Taxiderby's favorite thing they worked on was the "[Press F1 for] HELP" easter egg versus Spamton and Spamton NEO. Toby had remarked that the F1 key should do something due to the already-existing dialogue mentioning it, to which Taxiderby had the idea of the Spamton angel appearing and healing the player. They animated, coded, and implemented it entirely by themselves after Toby approved of the idea. They noted being surprised by the easter egg's popularity.[20]

Their favorite character to make things for during the development of Chapter 2 was Rouxls Kaard, with Noelle as a close second. They only worked on bullet patterns for Rouxls, but said that it was fun to account for the various different parts the Thrash Machine could have. With Noelle, they apparently worked on her monologue scene in the Cyber City.[20]

For Chapter 3, Taxiderby assembled the Rock Video minigame.[106] For attacks, they worked on Shuttah's attacks, and the Knight's Stars and Box Splitter attacks.[62]

For Chapter 4, Taxiderby worked on some of the complex visual cutscene sequences, such as Kris falling into a prophecy tapestry, and into the Titan with Susie.[62] For the Titan battle, they are particularly proud of coming up with the light up mechanic for the SOUL to incentivize grazing and encourage going near bullets.[107] Taxiderby also had created concepts for Ralsei's ReviveKris and Susie's WakeKris, with the latter idea of Susie smacking the back of Kris's head to wake them up being unused.[108]

Fred Wood

Fred Wood is a Texas-based programmer and a member of Deltarune's main development team, having joined the project early on in the development of Chapter 2.

Outside of Deltarune, for the UNDERTALE 10th Anniversary Stream, Fred Wood was credited as contributing additional programming for the 10th Anniversary Sans battle.[109] He has also developed several games, including the LOVE series.[110]

For Deltarune, Fred Wood mostly works on overworld related parts of the game,[20] and has stated that he set up the flags and logic for Chapter 2's Weird Route.[111]

The second thing he worked on for the game was Nubert's room in Chapter 2, which he made on his second day working on the game without any context for who Nubert was.[20]

One of his favorite things he worked on in Chapter 2 was "all the vase shenanigans" in Queen's Mansion. He brought special attention to the "Vase Race" (the section where Kris must balance a vase on their head), saying that he considers getting to the end of it without dropping the vase one of the hardest and most satisfying things in the game.[20]

His favorite glitch during the development of Chapter 2 was one where by eating the moss in Cyber City with Susie, then talking to the dumpster in the same room, the player would be able to acquire a "powerful item you weren't otherwise supposed to be able to get", for reasons that took a surprisingly long time to figure out. Given the described context, the item in question was most likely the ThornRing.[20]

His favorite character to make things for during the development of Chapter 2 was Noelle, especially as he was working on the Maus puzzles, which he said were sometimes difficult to implement.[20]

During Chapter 3 and 4's development, he admits those years were difficult on a personal level. For Chapter 3, Fred began work months after Chapter 2's release in 2021, and his main responsibility was the Desert Board and Kodakoda Island boards for TV Time. He admits that programming the characters inside The Legend of Tenna segments was difficult. He also contributed a lot of content for TV World, with the Third Stealth Zone being one of his favorite sections.[112]

For Chapter 4, Fred Wood was responsible for the Dark Sanctuary, 2nd Sanctuary, and small amount of the 3rd Sanctuary. Fred comments that he improved his workflow while working on these overworld segments, which had multiple iterations to be enjoyable to explore.[112] At some point during programming, Fred had nearly accidentally left text mentioning taco in-game, which is apparently his favorite food.[62]

Jean Canellas

Swatchling artwork Jean Canellas.png
A purple Swatchling, which was used to represent Jean Canellas in the Chapter 2 developer interview

Jean Canellas is a game developer who primarily works on Deltarune's battle systems, mostly on aspects other than bullet patterns. He joined the team during the development of Chapter 2, a few weeks after Fred Wood.[20]

Outside of Deltarune, he was the director of the 2016 Dark Souls-inspired platformer Death's Gambit: Afterlife.[113]

The first thing he worked on for Deltarune was the GIGA Queen boss fight, which he spent his first two weeks programming and designing, along with playing Super Punch Out!! and supposedly "fighting people in the street" for reference.[20]

His favorite character to make things for during the development of Chapter 2 was Spamton NEO. In the Chapter 2 developer interview, he recalled spending a very long time trying to balance the Pipis attack, to the point that he began to see Pipis in his dreams. He also stated that his favorite thing he worked on in Chapter 2 was the "funnycheat" feature that was added in v1.06, where Spamton NEO becomes angry and deals higher damage if the player uses an exploit to fire continuous Big Shots without recharging.[20]

His favorite glitch in Chapter 2's development was one where Poppup's Click ACT, which causes Poppup to create many duplicates of its sprite until it "crashes", would never stop creating duplicates until the game itself would actually crash.[20]

For both Chapters 3 and 4, Jean programmed the logic for all bosses, enemies, and created all the ACTs.[62]

Specifically for Chapter 3, Jean created all the attacks for Rouxls, Lanino and Elnina's boss encounters. He also worked on the full Shadow Mantle holder battle, and integrating and balancing all minigames for Tenna's battle.[114] For Chapter 4, Jean had collaborated with Toby and AlexMdle to assemble the Hammer of Justice battle, which "took a long time".[115]

Xan Wetherall

Xan Wetherall was a member of the main development team for Deltarune Chapter 2. They only appear in the credits of Chapter 2, indicating they are likely no longer working on the game as of Chapter 3. Very little is known about them.

Alphys's speech sound effect in both Undertale and Deltarune is a clip of their voice.[116]

Outside of Deltarune, they are credited as an Operation Coordinator for the 2021 puzzle game Mini Motorways.[117]

AlexMdle & PureQuestion

AlexMdle (pronounced "Alex Middle")[118] and PureQuestion are game developers and members of Deltarune's development team. Besides being a developer, AlexMdle is also an artist, though he is not known to have worked on art for Deltarune.

AlexMdle and PureQuestion were initially "Super Testers" for Chapter 2,[119] before becoming members of the main development team from Chapter 3 onwards.

For Chapter 3, Alex programmed the Susiezilla minigame. For Chapters 3 and 4's battles, Alex programmed many bullet patterns, including the Knight's Rotating Slash attack and final attacks, as well as all of the Titan's attacks.[62]

PureQuestion also programmed many bullet patterns for regular enemies for Chapters 3 and 4, and also worked on Jackenstein's attacks for Chapter 4.[62]

Outside of Deltarune, they founded the game development team Team D-13, which developed the 2017 game Star of Providence (formerly known as Monolith). AlexMdle and PureQuestion also created the mod character The Hermit for the game Slay the Spire, which is one of the most popular character mods for the game, and which was eventually integrated into Downfall, a massive and well-known fan-made expansion.[120][121]

Juju Adams

Juju Adams is a London-based programmer. He is credited with the creation of development tools for Deltarune used from Chapter 2 onwards, which the credits note as "(Cool)".

Outside of Deltarune, he has worked on several commercial games created with the GameMaker engine, and is known for creating several popular open source libraries for use in GameMaker.[122]

Sara Spalding

Sara Spalding, also known as SaraJS, is a programmer and game designer. She provided programming assistance for Chapter 2, before becoming a full-time member of the main development team some time around May of 2024.[123]

Sara is first credited as a main team member in Chapter 4, where she helped with difficult programming and visual effects. This includes the Dark Sanctuaries lighting, ripples, and prophecies. For Chapter 5, she is currently creating cutscenes.[62]

Outside of Deltarune, Sara is most known for her YouTube channel, where she has published many tutorials for the GameMaker engine. She also developed the 2014 puzzle game Another Perspective, and an upcoming 2D platformer called PokeyPoke, though her work on Deltarune is currently taking priority over the latter.

Lars Korendijk

Lars Korendijk is a Dutch-based artist, game developer, programmer, designer, and writer. Lars is credited for programming assistance for Chapter 2. Outside of Deltarune, Lars worked on other independent games: Wuppo, a 2016 action adventure platformer, which later became Wuppo: Definitive Edition in 2019. In 2024, Lars created Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip, a 3D action exploration game.

Enjl

I think my favourite part of Chapter 4's development was when I got to dual wield cats for a while. I wish I could do that IRL all day every day.

Enjl, Undertale/Deltarune Newsletter Winter 2025

Henri Beeres, also known as Enjl is a programmer and is a part of the main team for Deltarune as of Chapter 4. Outside of Deltarune, he has also done game design, electronic music, and various digital art.[124]

Andy Brophy, Undertale/Deltarune Newsletter Winter 2025

Andy Brophy is a game designer from Melbourne, Australia. On Deltarune for Chapter 4, he is credited as the "Mike Maker", as he had created all three Mikes. He also worked on the Jongler and Battat minigames.[62] At the time of Chapter 4's release, Andy informs he had been working on the game for about a year and a half.[125]

Andy is still working on content for Deltarune, though he "doesn't even know what they are".[62]

Outside of Deltarune, he has been working with the GameMaker engine since 2005, and has developed many games, including the 2023 RPG Knuckle Sandwich, along with a number of smaller games that he has published online since at least 2008. He is currently working on the upcoming game Surf Club, which is made under the game label Dinko, which he co-runs.

Ondy

Ondy was a guest developer who worked on the Cooking Show minigame for Chapter 3, and had "created important things for Chapter 5".[62]

Laura is also credited for singing Until Next Time, the end credits theme for Chapter 2 and 3. Toby originally found her via Kan Gao's RPG Maker adventure game To the Moon.[126]

Outside of Deltarune, she has worked on the soundtrack for many games. One of her most well known works is the soundtrack for the 2009 game Plants vs. Zombies, where she both composed the game's soundtrack and sang its credits theme, for which she received an award from the Game Audio Network Guild in 2010.[127] She also created the 2017 RPG Maker adventure game Rakuen. In 2023, this game was ported to the Nintendo Switch alongside a new spinoff game titled Mr. Saitou, which Toby Fox contributed an "annoying" song to.[128]

Lena Raine

Lena Raine is a composer and producer. In Deltarune, she collaborated with Toby Fox on the songs Cyber Battle (Solo) and Attack of the Killer Queen in Chapter 2, and edited the audio for Piano that may not be played that well in Chapter 4.

She also created the unofficial 2018 release Lullaby for Lancer, a single featuring two piano-and-synth-based arrangements of songs from Deltarune Chapter 1.[129]

Outside of Deltarune, she has worked on several games, with some of her most notable work being the soundtrack of the 2018 game Celeste, and several songs that have been added to Minecraft through updates.[130] She was also the lead developer of the 2018 text adventure game ESC, which she was the writer, main programmer, and composer for.[131]

Marcy Nabors

Marcy Nabors is a sound designer and composer. In Deltarune, she collaborated with Toby Fox on the song Attack of the Killer Queen in Chapter 2. In Chapters 3 and 4, she assisted with MIDI cleanup for the tracks Adventure Board, Raise Up Your Bat, and Knock You Down!! (Rhythm Ver.).[132]

She also collaborated with Toby on music for the UNDERTALE 10th Anniversary Stream event, specifically helping with the MIDI transcription for Abandoned Town and Underwater Town.[133]

Outside of Deltarune, she was previously a member of the Homestuck music team alongside Toby Fox. Her more recent work includes collaborations with the musician Jamie Paige, having handled mastering for her albums Bittersweet and Constant Companions, as well as being featured on one song on each.[134][135]

Alex Rosetti

Alex Rosetti is a game developer and composer. In Deltarune, they handled arrangement for the track Gyaa Ha ha!.[136]

Outside of Deltarune, they were previously a member of the Homestuck music team alongside Toby Fox.

Itoki Hana

Itoki Hana (JP: 糸奇はな) is a Japanese singer-songwriter. In Deltarune, she provided vocals on the tracks Dark Sanctuary and Neverending Night.[137]

Toby met her years ago after she sent Undertale fanmail, and the two have been friends since.[138] Hana was one of the first Japanese fans to send fanmail prior to the game's localization.[139] She has done song collaborations with Toby that have been mentioned in the Newsletters, some of which is also featured on Toby's Fangamer subpage. This includes 74,[140][141] Skies Forever Blue in ISSUE 1 - Winter 2022,[142] and THE GREATEST LIVING SHOW in ISSUE 2 - Spring 2023.[143]

Keiko Fukuichi

Keiko Fukuichi (JP: 福市恵子 Fukuichi Keiko) is a freelance English to Japanese translator. Keiko is the primary Japanese translator of Deltarune, and was also the primary translator for Undertale, having earned an award from her translation for Undertale. Her work is done under the company 8-4, Ltd., who are also the publishers of the console versions of Deltarune.[144][145] She also translated other works for Toby and Fangamer, such as the UNDERTALE Art Book, the Japanese translation of the Newsletter,[146][147] the Japanese version of the Spamton Sweepstakes on deltarune.com/jp/sweepstakes.[147]

Keiko has always had an interest in reading and writing Japanese sentences, and studied English since she was a child to parse English lyrics from music bands. She became a translator to skip the process of job hunting, as she did not have any aspirations to work for any company in particular.[148] When gauging if she could become a proper translator, she applied to a trial run for a company in 2004 that was looking for freelance game translators. After the successful application, Keiko has been working as a freelance translator ever since, having noticed a need for this job.[148] She prefers to play a game first before translating it.[148]

In 2018, Toby mentioned he is proud of the Japanese translation for Chapter 1, and feels that Keiko understands his "tone of voice" well. He stated he is happy to keep working on translations with her.[149] Despite Toby learning Japanese, one of Keiko's tweets mentions that he trusts her on the translation process, and how he only offers an outline and suggestions to her.[12]

For Chapter 3, Toby revealed the time to translate in the Newsletter to surprise her.[150][146]

Outside of her work on Undertale and Deltarune, she has also worked on the localizations of Enter the Gungeon, Return of the Obra Dinn, My Friend Pedro, and Hades.[151]

256graph

256graph is a Japanese game development and graphic production company that additionally handles outsourced graphic design work for other studios. In Deltarune, they are credited with creating Japanese versions of graphics that contain text.

Outside of Deltarune, 256graph has worked on several games, mostly for other studios. In the category of localization work, they also created Japanese assets for the games Shovel Knight and Rogue Legacy.[152]

  14. 3. Unfortunately, there are no translations for UNDERTALE into other languages besides Japanese. That includes Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, but also every other language – Chinese, Korean, Russian, French, German, Italian, and more.

I know it sucks that there are no other official translations for UNDERTALE. But I want to make it clear that this isn’t because I have a grudge against other countries. It’s because, if I release something official, I want it to match my vision. I was only able to do this for the Japanese version because I know Japanese myself, and I worked very closely with our brilliant translator to thoroughly check the text. I am not against official translations for other languages if we could make it work the same way… In the past I have looked into various options with my publisher, 8-4, but nothing has come of that yet. Maybe I should try a different approach.

I’m very happy that there are unofficial translations on PC. Considering I don’t understand other languages, letting fans interpret the game without the burden of being “officially” perfect is amazingly helpful.

As for DELTARUNE, it’s just not feasible from a development standpoint to support other languages right now, since it would make the game take longer to come out...

  107. [CH4 SPOILERS] Although I made multiple VFX for the final boss, I’m most proud of its gimmick. To better fit the tone and incentivize grazing, I came up with the mechanic of light that slows and destroys bullets (including the centipede pattern), which Alex did an amazing job putting all together ✨@taxiderby.coven.cafe on Bluesky, March 20, 2026.

I'm constantly in awe of what the team has been able to accomplish with this game, I'm so happy I can help contribute to a project that means so much to so many people.@brophy.website on Bluesky, June 05, 2025.
  126. Second of all, the ending song, "Don't Forget," was sung / arranged by Laura Shigihara @supershigi (I found her through Kan Gao's @Reives_Freebird To the Moon). 'Cause of her the ending really feels special...! Also she's just extremely nice and good at music November 02, 2018.
