Garden

From Deltarune Wiki
(Redirected from Way Home)

The Garden (JP: 庭園) is the first area in the Flower Kingdom, featured in Chapter 5 of Deltarune.

Features

Main story

Kris and Susie walk down the spiraling paths and meet Flowery, who immediately plants flowers on them to disguise them from Asgore, who he humors and keeps away from the party, including hiding Ralsei in a wardrobe and giving Ralsei his hat to conceal his monster Dreemurr-like features.

Geography

The Garden itself is actually the bedsheet of the bed in the Light World. The Garden resembles a pink version of Card Kingdom's Field. Its theme, Garden of Hopes and Dreams, is rearranged for the Garden's track. For a short period of time when the Garden is first entered, it looks identical to the Field visually, before it transitions into its pink aesthetic.

Sublocations

Dark path

The "Dark World" SAVE point

The dark path is a simple path where Kris and Susie eventually find Asgore and Flowery for the first time. Kris can check the disguise bushes that had concealed them, which Susie reacts to.

Wardrobe lane

This is a linear path that resembles the Field, and consists of four blue wardrobes, similar to the one Kris has in Ralsei's castle. In order, they contain Asgore's armor, 500 POINTs that Kris does not collect, a half photograph that Kris refuses to look at, and Ralsei.

Not checking the last wardrobe causes Susie to muse about Ralsei, who ends up tumbling out on his own. Afterwards, checking the wardrobe that had Ralsei causes Susie and Kris to wear extras of Ralsei's hat for the room, and different reactions based on if Ralsei is or is not wearing his hat.

The further path has five lamps, and a Flowery-shaped bush.

Beginning

The doubter and Kooby in the Garden

The path transforms into pink grass. The Beginning SAVE point appears in this are, with a bridge east of it. At the end of the bridge are three bush-concealed Floradinns, one that patrols, and the other two are Flowery enthusiasts. The east path progresses to the theater path.

Taking the southwest path's bridge leads to a chest containing RedRibbon, which causes Susie to accept Kris equipping Ribbon-type armor onto her afterwards. Going south of this path is where the party can observe Flowery and Asgore fishing two times by checking the sign, and interact with Kooby and the doubter.

Theater path

Trees that are cut off dot the background, as well as pushing block puzzles similar to Card Kingdom's and Rouxls Kaard's puzzles. At the northern sign, the party can observe Flowery and Asgore conversing about the cowboy show and Kris twice, where Yellow appears on-stage.

A Netskie under the guise of a Floradinn offers advice for the block puzzle in exchange for two mushrooms, with miniature Netskies outskirting the path. One of the miniatures is also a chest that has NetskieHat, which can also be brought onto the path.

Scissor crossway

The area is a branching path that is populated with scissors that make the SOUL visible, which cut the purple flowers. At the center of the room is a chest that contains GreenTea The north path leads to a smaller area that progresses the story.

The west path leads to a water path that has a pink chest containing a Pink Coin.

East is a small area that is largely meant for backtracking.

Hopschef's room

From the east of scissor crossway, Hopschef can be found, who is in front of a slice of giant sourdough bread. Checking the bread causes Susie and Ralsei to reminisce about finding Top Chef's room. A shortcut door and a platswap statue can also be found here, though they are initially inactive.

The TreeCake can be collected here after completing one round of the sourdough minigame.

Flowery Helped

Garden location locked door.png
The locked door in the Garden

This is a small area that contains a SAVE point, and two Floradinns at the sides of the Delta Rune gate with the inscription, "FLOWERS are symbols of LOVE". When the party fails to open the door, Flowery helps them to open the gate by temporarily joining the party, and Ralsei can be checked twice, who is angered by Flowery.

After Flowery helps, the respective SAVE point appears, as well as a chest that contains Flowery Dollars, which can be checked once each time for a Flowery Dollar until the party leaves the room. Three Floradinns converse on the east path, who all praise Flowery. Watering the east path leads to the next area.

The room itself contains a watering can that Kris carries on their head.

Sheary topiaries

A watering area that branches north and east. Two umbrella Darkners can be found here, who offer advice about how the scissors function and the Sheary's trimming the bushes around the Garden. The Sheary near the Ralsei bush can change the scale of the bush's head. Cutting any of the bushes near Sheary provokes them to start an encounter.

North goes to the first dash path.

Taking the east path blocked by a Floradinn shrub leads to a room with a large golden watering can. Watering the entire area causes Susie to think about Noelle, with Flowery offering some advice before chests containing Thatchet and 50 Flowery Dollars appear.

First dash path

North leads to the Diner, and east leads to another platswap statue. The chest here is empty.

This area introduces the dash mechanic, where the party charges forward and rams into anything in front of them. They can only be stopped by a wall of rocks or rope.

Ideal Diner

Garden location Ideal Diner.png
The diner

A Diner where Flowery and Asgore both eat, though Flowery continues to distract Asgore from the party. A SAVE point becomes available after the cutscene, though mushrooms block the path to Flowery and Asgore. Green stands behind the counter, a Floradinn sits nearby, and Yellow sits at the far-right of the counter, blocking access to the back area of the Diner. Kris can purchase or sell items from the open Diner menu.

The back of the Diner can be accessed from the Way Home area, where its back door becomes open. 1 Flowery Dollar can be found in the register.

Second dash path

The party appears on the middle path of the room, which has three cliffsides, with the staircase blocked by piles of leaves. The bottom path has a Netskie that when ignored, begins an encounter; the encounter can be avoided altogether by bumping into the chest it is inside of via the dash path to the chest's right, knocking it out. and the upper path has two Floradinns having a tea party. Ramming the Floradinns knocks them into the water below, and they thank the player for freeing them from between the dash gates.

Team puzzles

Kris, Susie, and Ralsei all work together to step on sets of pressure plates until they notice the second needing a fourth person. With Ralsei's help, Kris steps over spikes and goes into the next area.

Susie and Flowery can be found conversing nearby, much to Ralsei's distaste. If Config is accessed to toggle Ralseis, he is unable to speak, and thus give a proper solution to the box puzzle. Repeated failures causes Ralsei to silently splat, but eventually slide over so Kris can cross to the other side.

Returning to the puzzle causes Flowery to solve it, and the door leading to the next area opens.

Way Home

Garden location Way Home.png
Way Home SAVE point

A darkened area with dark waters and various plants growing. The Way Home SAVE point is near the Flower Kingdom exit, though Susie becomes unamused two times if Kris tries to leave. A shortcut door is nearby.

This area branches into three paths: west has a visible Pink Bell up top and leads to the Diner, north is a platswap statue, and east is where the party can see Flowery with Asgore sitting high up on leaves, and another platswap statue.

Using this platswap statue and ascending the beanstalk leads to the Cliffs, though FRIEND can also be found with Kris's ACT menu.

Dark overgrowth

A dark area with winding straight paths. A watering can is needed, which can be found northwest. The reticle indicators must be used by having Kris near sides of paths to find dried paths. A chest containing GreenTea can be found nearby the watering can's initial pedestal.

Returning southwest and following the torii arches leads to the main path, while going west from the starting torii arch leads to watering grass that shapes into of a heart, revealing another RedRibbon chest.

Aqua and Seth can be found conversing about the Petal Feather before Aqua notices and begins an encounter, with Floradinns ambushing Ralsei and Susie. Afterwards, the nearby bushes can be checked, which are Netskies that censor a word in three different ways.

Shrine

Obtaining the Petal Feather

Situated at the Shrine is the Petal Feather, which activates platforming. A SAVE point is near its base, and left of the Shrine is a shortcut door.

Above the Shrine is a Pink Coin, which can be obtained from jumping offscreen from the top-right beanstalk's leaf.
