Platforming
(Redirected from Platform statue)
Platforming is a gameplay mechanic introduced in Chapter 5 of Deltarune, where it is featured in Flower Kingdom. It is unlocked when the Petal Feather is obtained.
Upon activation, the camera changes perspective and the game turns into a side-scrolling platformer, enabling the party to access new areas while blocking off others. Platforming can be swapped on and off by interacting with or attacking winged statues.
When platforming is engaged, there are several key differences:
- The camera perspective changes to the side.
- The game's controls change:
- The [CONFIRM] key allows Kris to use their sword to attack enemies and interact with some objects.
- The [CANCEL] key allows Kris to jump up to 3 "tiles" high.
- The [MENU] key allows access to a unique new ACT menu, where party members can be commanded to interact with certain objects, then choose which object to ACT on with the movement keys.
- Ralsei can hang from vines.
- Susie can use unique "Buster" spells on fruit, boost flowers, bells, enemies, and hanging Ralsei.
- Kris can open the menu by ACTing on blue wardrobes.
- The [CONFIRM] and [CANCEL] keys can be swapped in the CONFIG menu.
- New "Bullet Pattern" enemies can be fought in the overworld, which drop Flowery Dollars upon defeat. During those battles, the camera remains locked in position and fixed with a green border and black vignette for the duration of the fight. Regular enemies still trigger a normal encounter instead.
- When damaging objects are present, Kris's sprite is filled with a unique scrolling checkerboard pattern.
- The Dark World inventory is inaccessible by using the Menu key, only being accessed by Kris's ACT on a blue wardrobe.
- Character dialogue is now displayed at the top or bottom of the screen in a borderless box, rather than the regular text box.
- New idle animations are introduced, and movement animations default to running.
- Objects such as doors are visible but impossible to interact with. In addition, areas where platforming is possible contain no SAVE points.
- Kris can attack in forward and backward directions with a ground slash, and performs a wide slash in midair.
- In addition to damaging enemies, Kris's attack can interact with some objects:
- Attacking boost flowers, launches the entire party in a direction depending on the flower. Some flowers launch the party in a set direction while others launch them in the direction they were attacked from.
- The attack can also destroy weak obstacles like vine walls.
- Kris can use their ACT on blue wardrobes to open the MENU.
- S-Action - Susie can fire a homing projectile at certain objects or enemies. The buster has a 4-second cooldown between uses.
- S-Actions:
- Ralsei Fall - releases Ralsei from the object he's currently hanging on, making him fall to the ground.
- StunBuster - makes enemies become stunned for a few seconds.
- BellBuster - destroys hanging bells that drop Flowery Dollars. Cannot use this action on bells that drop Pink Coins
- StunBuster - activates closed booster flowers, allowing Kris to attack them and launch off of them.
- Spin Left/Right - spins pinwheels in the specified direction, changing the direction of wind.
- R-Action - Ralsei can interact with hookable objects and loose vines to suspend himself using his scarf. Ralsei acts like a platform when hanging, to allow the party to jump over obstacles and gain height. When hanging from objects suspended in the air, Ralsei's weight will cause them to drop down, allowing easier access to other objects or to expose a weak point. Hanging has a 4-second cooldown between uses if Ralsei falls down from the hook target.
- R-Actions:
- Hook - allows Ralsei to hook off vines found in the various platforming sections.
- HookFlower - allows Ralsei to hook off the stems of the flowers near the Netskie area.
- Hang (Umbrella) - allows Ralsei to hang off the sticks of the umbrellas.
- Glasses - Seth platforming boss fight exclusive. Allows Ralsei to hook onto Seth's glasses to bring them into attacking range of Kris and Susie.

- Ralsei hanging off of a hook
- During the long platformer sequence at the Top of Castle area, Susie and Ralsei will automatically perform ACTs based on Kris's movements, as the platforming sequence requires several ACTs to be chained together faster than Kris can command. This is the only time where Susie and Ralsei perform platformer ACTs on their own and prevent Kris from using ACTs.
- Ralsei's head moves to track Kris's position while hanging from an object.
- If the party falls off a cliff without any objects below, then the party will simply get pushed by a wind gust back to their last ground position and take no damage. In the Cliffs area, where the giant floating flower section is, the wind gust can move the positions of the flowers on the bottom row.
