The following NPCs are found in Hometown.

QC's Diner

Aaron

Aaron overworld.png
Aaron

Aaron[1] is a monster resembling Undertale's Aaron. Unlike Aaron from Undertale, he wears a beige tank top and beret, along with glasses, and his arms are less muscular.

In Chapter 2, Aaron is seated at the counter next to Hat Monster, impressed at how much the latter has bulked up.

Glad Dragon

Glad Dragon overworld.png
Glad Dragon

Glad Dragon is a draconic monster resembling Undertale's Sad Dragon. They wear a pale blue checkered shirt. They and their family together are internally referred to as dragonfamily.

In Chapter 1, Glad Dragon is seated at a booth with their family, two children and another adult. They ask Catti for the special with edible glitter or sprinkles, since their youngest will not eat food unless it looks like treasure.

Hat Monster

Hat Monster overworld.png
Hat Monster

Hat Monster, internally referred to as most_improved_1997, is a small mole-like monster resembling Undertale's Charles. He[2] wears a comically tall black hat. He sits (or "stands" since his legs are so small) at the diner's counter.

In Chapter 1, he hints that his "rugged body" holds secrets, and then explains that the secret is that he puts his leftover pancakes inside his giant hat: "I sure love PANCAKE!"

In Chapter 2, he sits next to Aaron and explains he is bulking up for the winter, expressing his enjoyment of the activity. His hat is taller by 1 pixel compared to the previous Chapter.

In Chapter 4, he sits next to Froggit and asks if Kris notices anything different about him. His hat is taller by 1 pixel compared to Chapter 2.

Ficus Licker

Ficus licker overworld.png
Ficus Licker

Ficus Licker, internally referred to as ficus, is a small orange-colored monster, returning from Undertale. They sit in a booth at the diner in Chapter 2.

They mention that they thought that the diner was a post office, and by the time they sat down, they were not feeling hungry. For the next few hours, they had told Catti that they were still deciding on their order. They wonder how to escape from this situation.

Fire Elemental

Green Fire overworld.gif
Fire Elemental

Fire Elemental, internally referred to as greenfire, is a green fire elemental resembling Undertale's Fuku Fire. She wears a long-sleeved pink coat with a red and orange undershirt. She wears a white necklace with a red accent.

In Chapter 1, she sits next to Tentacled Monster at a booth. She muses that she likes the vibes of the diner's waitstaff and ponders signing up, but figures she would melt all the ice in the drinks if she got nervous and that serving coffee would be "a lawsuit waiting to happen." Her boothmate mentions that although both of them used to skip Gerson's class for the diner's crepes, her grades did not drop.

Ice Wolf

File:Faw Faw overworked.png
Ice Wolf

Ice Wolf[3] resembles Undertale's Ice Wolf and speaks with the same truncated third-person grammar, but now wears a pink ICE-E shirt and blue pants.

In Chapter 1, Ice Wolf is in the diner. They tell Kris that they do not like drinks containing ice, preferring the ice "to BE drink," but do like ice-themed mascots.

In Chapter 2, Ice Wolf is in the pizza parlor. They are enjoying Double-Ice pizza, though they wonder if they are the shop's only customer. They admit that ICE-E is cute and that they are a big fan.

In Chapter 4, Ice Wolf is found in front of the Town Hall, setting up decorations for the festival. They ask to be called Faw Faw,[4] and they claim that Carol asked them to buy flowers from Asgore.

Mom Cat

Mom Cat overworld.gif
Mom Cat

Mom Cat, internally referred to as catti_mom and catty_mom, is the mother of Catti and Catty. She is a white anthropomorphic cat-like monster with a tall purple beehive hairdo, a simple long-sleeved purple shirt or dress, and a yellow necklace with large beads. Her design could be a reference to Marge Simpson from The Simpsons.

While Mom Cat does not appear in Chapter 1, she is briefly mentioned by her husband.

In Chapter 2, Mom Cat appears in QC's Diner, where she enthusiastically cheers for her younger daughter while waving around a large red foam finger with "#1" written on it.

In Chapter 4, Mom Cat attends Church alongside her husband and eldest daughter, cheering them on for their choir singing and reading recital respectively. Afterwards, she and her husband get stuck in a tree by the Library, with Catti constructing a plan in order to get them down.

Shambling Mass

Shambling Mass overworld.png
Shambling Mass

Shambling Mass, internally referred to as shamblingmass, is a monster resembling Undertale's Shambling Mass. They now wear their red ribbon in their hair instead of as a bowtie.

In Chapter 4, Shambling Mass is seated next to Waitress Lion, where they request Purple Guy to bring them mineral water — but only the minerals. While repeatedly calling for their attention, they mistakenly pronounce "garcon" as "Gerson" at one point.

Tentacled Monster

Flannel Demon overworld.png
Tentacled Monster

Tentacled Monster, internally referred to as flanneldemon, is a purple tentacled monster with red eyes, resembling Undertale's Skateboard Girl. She has left off her hat and now wears red flannel.

In Chapter 1, she sits next to Fire Elemental at a booth. She reminisces about skipping the first hour of Gerson's class because the diner's crepes were so good. She continues that although her fire elemental friend's grades did not suffer, her own were bad enough that she nearly had to repeat the year, and she credits her passing grade to their habit of bringing Gerson their leftovers.

Waitress Lion

Dress Lion overworld.png

Dress Lion overworld dress.png
Waitress Lion in Chapter 4

Waitress Lion, internally referred to as dresslion, is a waitress resembling Undertale's Dress Lion. She[5] is dressed in the diner's waitress uniform and pointed red glasses.

In Chapter 1, she takes Fire Elemental and Tentacled Monster's order: crepes, cinnamon latte, two bunny parfaits, and a piece of firewood. Only briefly fazed, the lion asks how they would like the firewood done.

In Chapter 4, Waitress Lion sits at one of the booths as a customer instead of an employee, glad for the break provided by Purple Guy, who she does not remember being hired.

Hospital

Red Big Mouth

Red Big Mouth overworld.png
Red Big Mouth

Red Big Mouth, internally referred to as nurse, is a red, large toothed monster resembling Undertale's Big Mouth. They initially had a red cross on their hat in the Chapter 1&2 Demo. This was changed to a blue cross in the release version for compliance with the Geneva Conventions, which limits the use of the Red Cross emblem.[6] Red Big Mouth sits behind the reception desk at the hospital.

In Chapter 1, Red Big Mouth mentions they enjoy listening to Kris and Undyne play the piano. If the player tries to get Kris to play the piano, they become concerned that Kris cannot play the piano "beautifully," and notices that they seem "a little sick..."

In Chapter 2, Red Big Mouth asks if Kris and Susie are there to make an appointment. Susie corrects them that they are just hanging out.

In Chapter 4, Red Big Mouth is surprised to see Kris visit so often despite not being sick themselves. On the Weird Route, they thank Kris for bringing Berdly into the hospital.

Shyren

Shyren overworld.png
Shyren

Shyren[7] is a returning character from Undertale. She[8] is a floating, fish-like monster.

In Chapter 2, Shyren appears in the rightmost hospital room instead of The Warrior. She appears to be resting her voice.

In Chapter 4, Shyren attends the service at church, and is part of the choir. When Kris attempts to talk to her, the narration simply states "(She's shyly running a cup of juice through her gills.)"

Town Hall

Briefcase Dude

Business Guy overworld.png
Briefcase Dude

Business Guy, internally referred to as businessguy, is a green-olive-skinned man who typically holds a black briefcase and is usually tilted over. He[9] blocks the way to the mayor's office door.

In Chapter 1, Briefcase Dude calls Kris "short stuff" and asks what a child could possibly want to see the mayor for, bringing up various babyish problems and directing them to talk to the cops instead. If addressed again, he wonders if Kris needs someone to change their diaper, again directing them to "the Cop's."

In Chapter 2, Briefcase Dude recommends that Kris should graduate from "Diaper School" if they wish to get into politics, and that they're going to need to level up to understand "a Man's World." He admits that was his career path and that he does not even work there.

In Chapter 4, he lays flat on his back, now without his briefcase. He explains that the mayor killed his "briefscase" with a giant katana, but he cannot complain since he voted for this.

Hand Receptionist

Hand Receptionist overworld.png
Hand Receptionist

Hand Receptionist, internally referred to as receptionist, is the mayor's receptionist, who resembles Undertale's Hand Receptionist. They are gray with light blue nail polish, wearing a purple dress and beret. Their necklace and beret feather are similarly light blue.

In Chapter 1, Hand Receptionist states that the mayor is very busy and refuses to let Kris in to see her, advising them to cause some terrible crisis if they really want to get in. If addressed again, the receptionist asks whether Kris is there to complain about their teacher, telling them to take their complaint to their mother for allowing the teacher to be hired.

In Chapter 2, they say the mayor is busy preparing for the festival.

In Chapter 4, Hand Receptionist asks if Kris is looking for something important. They reveal that the mayor keeps everything important at her own house, but they regret letting that confidential info slip.

Politics Bear

Politics Bear overworld.png
Politics Bear

Politics Bear, internally referred to as politicsbear, is a bearish monster wearing a suit and tie, resembling Undertale's Politics Bear.

In Chapter 1, Politics Bear is first seen on a street corner outside as Toriel drives Kris to school. After Kris returns from the Dark World, they can be found in the Town Hall. They describe the mayor as an icy person with negative charisma who runs unopposed because of her work ethic and good track record, and further note that the mayor likes to keep her office's air conditioner running full blast, wondering if the chill is what politics feels like.

In Chapter 2, Politics Bear is bothered by Briefcase Dude's briefcase antics, worried that he might be trying to bribe them.

In Chapter 4, Politics Bear becomes disillusioned with Hometown's political system due to the only thing they have ever done politically being to stand there and look important.

'Sans (Grocery Store)

Tall Diamond Boy

Tall Diamond Boy overworld.png
Tall Diamond Boy

Tall Diamond Boy, internally referred to as diamond_tallboy, is a monster with a diamond-shaped head, resembling Undertale's Tall Diamond Boy. He appears inside the Grocery Store in Chapter 2.

Tall Diamond Boy mentions that a hooved girl sometimes comes inside the store to open the freezer door, standing in front of it while lost in thought. He thinks that she really likes the cold or waffles.

Papyrus and Sans's House

Papyrus

Papyrus[11][12][13][14] is Sans's currently unseen younger brother. Sans wants Kris to meet him, as Papyrus has no friends,[10] but pushes off when they will be able to meet. In Chapter 2, Sans can suggest that Kris may be able to see him when Asriel returns from college,[15] which is "next week" as of Chapter 4.[16][17]

The dialogue for interacting with the door to Sans's house references Papyrus's absence, as well as his Undertale battle theme, Bonetrousle, each Chapter.[18]

In Chapter 2, the "trousle" is described as going further away.[19]

In Chapter 4, the narration alludes to the "trousle" and neutral dialogue in his battle, though it is absent.[20]

Church

Ms. Boom

Ms. Boom overworld.png
Ms. Boom

Ms. Boom[21] is Berdly's supervisor at his afterschool job. She is a relative of Gerson and Alvin. Her sprite is named grandma_boom in the game's files.

While Ms. Boom does not appear in Chapter 2, she is briefly mentioned by Berdly at the Library.

In Chapter 4, Ms. Boom attends the church service. Kris can ask her about the shelter, but she claims that it "is not a wholesome place" and that Kris could stand to learn a thing or two from "that nice young man, Burghley." If talked to again, she says that Berdly told her that Kris wavedashes, and admonishes them, though she has not mentioned it to Toriel.

Outdoors

A number of monsters can be found outside on the sidewalks, byways, and streets of Hometown.

Business Manticore

Manticore overworld.png
Business Manticore

Business Manticore, internally referred to as manticore, is a canine-like monster resembling Undertale's Business Manticore. They are found standing next to the Flower King's entrance in Chapter 4.

Business Manticore expresses pity towards Asgore's current predicament but stops upon realizing that they are speaking to his adoptive child. They then wish that Asgore would eventually move on from the past for Kris's sake.

Clam Guy

Clam Guy overworld.png
Clam Guy open

Clam Guy is a clam monster returning from Undertale. Curiously, when their clam head is closed, Clam Guy's sprite appears to be the similarly-named but differently-colored Undertale character Clam Girl, although the sprites are listed in the game's files as clamguy.

Clam Guy can only be found by the picnic tables in Chapter 2 if Kris did not meet Onion in Chapter 1, or the current save file has not been transferred from Chapter 1. They tell Kris that yesterday, they saw something in the pond, but because it is no longer yesterday, that thing is not there anymore.

Dad Cat

Dad Cat overworld.png
Dad Cat

Dad Cat, internally referred to as cattydad and catti_dad, is the father of Catty and Catti. He shares Catty's purple fur and jovial nature, has one prominent upper canine tooth, black whiskers and a black comb-over, and only has a left arm.

In Chapter 1, Dad Cat stands next to the grill in front of his house. He seems to believe that Asriel's name is Douglas, and complains that "Doug" did not like his wife's cooking, which, along with physical resemblance and featuring a broken grill behind him, may be a reference to Bud Dink from the TV show Doug. Dad Cat hints he has had his stomach pumped from eating oranges, which are poisonous to cats.

In Chapter 2, Dad Cat can be found at QC's Diner, along with the rest of his family. He mentions being terrified of the shape of pickles, referencing the apparent real-life phenomenon of cats being scared of cucumbers.

In Chapter 4, Dad Cat appears as a member of the choir at church. He later expresses pride in his daughters and plans to cook them
