Noelle, Chapter 2

Lost Girl is the 30th track of the DELTARUNE Chapter 2 OST. It plays during a variety of scenes in most Chapters, and is sometimes associated with Noelle:

  • In Chapter 2, it plays during the cutscene with Susie and Noelle in her mansion room, as well as after the battle against GIGA Queen, when she runs out of battery power.
  • In Chapter 3, it plays during the cutscene where Susie explains her past to comfort Tenna.
  • In Chapter 4, it plays during the cutscene where Ralsei talks about his purpose as an explanation for not having a decorated room.
    • Later in Chapter 4, it plays from the speaker in the basement of Noelle's House.
    • It also plays in the church office when Susie finds a dust-covered hammer in a snow globe and realizes that it is the remains of Gerson in the Dark Sanctuary.
    • On the Weird Route, the track plays in Noelle's room when Noelle talks about Kris's visit to her on the night between Chapter 3 and Chapter 4.
  • In Chapter 5, it plays at the optional cutscene of Kris and Noelle riding the Ferris Wheel together at the Festival, as well as at the end of Pink's battle.

Creation and development

According to metadata inside of the game's music files, Lost Girl was finalized in 2018, three years before the release of Chapter 2.

A year later, on Undertale's 4th Anniversary, Toby Fox publicly teased this track on Twitter.[1] He commented that despite referring to it as Noelle's theme, "it's actually the kind of song that gets used repeatedly all over the game, even when [Noelle]'s not around".[2]

In a follow-up tweet, Toby also shared a variant of the song containing Susie's leitmotif.[3]

Trivia

  • Ribbicks directly reference the name of this track in rare battle dialogue.[4][5] In the Japanese translation of Deltarune, this dialogue is distinctly written in English, as opposed to the enemy's other dialogue being written in Japanese.
