Carol's room image

I think it might be a good idea to have the Asgore in Carol's room as a separate upload from the objectless one. The Asgore one could be on Asgore's page while the objectless one can be on Noelle's house page. There's value in seeing the corkboard and katana, but Asgore is kind of covering it up. Fixed it DubstepDude1 (talk) 10:35, 27 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for separating them! HylianAngel (talk) 10:38, 27 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Quotation marks

It's great that the quotation marks are being standardized now. But I feel like it would be better to leave the original text unmodified when it's part of a quoted citation from a newsletter (like here and here). Would it be alright to revert those? HylianAngel (talk) 07:03, 26 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

I honestly didn't notice that this was a newsletter. DubstepDude1 (talk) 07:05, 26 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Ah okay, just wanted to double-check! I've definitely tried to fix text formatting in some website citations before, before realizing my mistake. HylianAngel (talk) 07:11, 26 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Bullet points for certain item infoboxes

It's sort of non-intuitive, but I think we're supposed to keep the asterisks for any item page that has multiple infoboxes so that it formats linebreaks in the Items chart correctly (like here). For example, since the bullet points are no longer present on Saber 10, it shows the description and effects as combined in Swords. For Spookysword (which I literally just edited like a minute ago), it has bullet points, so that entry has linebreaks on the Items chart.

I similarly removed some of them at various points in time, forgetting that the chart was a thing. Maybe the bullet points should be restored, along with a hidden note for editors. But maybe the hidden note wouldn't be that great of an idea since it would be needed to repeat it for a bunch of pages. HylianAngel (talk) 22:29, 26 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

I didn’t know about that chart. How many of these charts are there in total? I’d like to know where exactly the asterisks need to be kept. I’m asking about both the Undertale Wiki and the Deltarune Wiki. DubstepDude1 (talk) 05:58, 27 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'm not 100% on it, KockaAdmiralac should know for sure, but I think the only thing it affects is the Items page on Deltarune Wiki due to it pulling from two infoboxes on a single page. I think if {{Infobox item}}'s effects and flavortext parameters have asterisks, then the linebreaks show up correctly for the Items page. This mainly affects all of the swords/pencils that Kris owns and the handful of items that have two infoboxes, like Broken Cake, Mannequin, Silver Watch, Shadow Crystal, Egg, Disk, and Black Shard. HylianAngel (talk) 06:19, 27 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
I won’t do anything for now. It seems like Kocka wants to do some kind of transfer first. DubstepDude1 (talk) 07:59, 27 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Okay! HylianAngel (talk) 08:41, 27 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yes, if an item page has multiple infoboxes we keep the asterisks to prevent the Items tables from breaking. But only on Deltarune Wiki, on Undertale Wiki we have a newer system which does not require that. KockaAdmiralac (talk) 11:59, 27 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

There are no problems with the original contrast

Hi, I just wanted to mention that there are no contrast issues with the screenshot that I uploaded (here). Sometimes, Deltarune Wiki will generate a thumbnail that might appear to have color issues, but if you download the image, there are no color issues at all, it was just Deltarune Wiki + your browser. You can see that the colors between our two screenshots are identical in this gif I created just now. https://i.imgur.com/ninsNBS.gif

Actually, when I open your image in GIMP, it gives a warning about an embedded color profile, which is not something I'm familiar with.

I would like to know what you mean by the color contrast problem since as far as I can tell our two images are completely identical (sans characters). HylianAngel (talk) 16:30, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi, your screenshot didn’t have any sRGB-related metadata. To be honest, I’m not very knowledgeable about this, we just started discussing in Discord why your screenshot looks so strange. We downloaded it and re-saved it in GIMP, and after that sRGB data appeared in the file, and the contrast issue was gone. It’s not entirely clear how this screenshot was originally taken. I really doubt it was done intentionally, it’s most likely some kind of error. I checked it in three different browsers, and other people checked it on macOS as well, and the high contrast is still there. However, if you download the image and open it outside of a browser, there’s no contrast issue. It feels like this shouldn’t happen at all, it looks more like a bug. DubstepDude1 (talk) 17:01, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oh, it's a metadata issue, I misunderstood. Thank you for sharing this.
Is it just for this image in particular or like all my screenshots? (If it's the latter, oh no.) Because you can see a similar issue with the thumbnails generated here (File:Asriel overworld young silhouette.png).
For my screenshots, I use Win+PrtSc to save the image to my computer, then I resize it with ImageMagick's -filter point -resize command.
I have copies of all of my original screenshots if they are needed. I can re-save each one in GIMP if necessary, or send everything to Kocka in a Google Drive folder. But it would be very unfortunate if ImageMagick wasn't allowed since it can batch-transform many images at once instead of having to do it manually with each image separately in GIMP. HylianAngel (talk) 17:20, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
I checked the latest screenshot, and it seems that all of your screenshots have increased contrast. DubstepDude1 (talk) 17:33, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
When I download File:Field location Donation Hole.png and observe the image metadata in GIMP via Image -> Metadata -> View Metadata, it says the colorspace is sRGB. Is that where to observe the missing metadata, or is it somewhere else?
Also here's an upload of a normal screenshot and then a resized screenshot, if it helps: File:Hearts Donut item.png HylianAngel (talk) 18:31, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
I can’t compare the two screenshots right now because I’m not at my computer. I’ve never used GIMP myself, I was just relaying part of Kocka’s message. I use a different program. Honestly, I think the issue might be related to ImageMagick, but again, I don’t really know much about that program. I can help download all your screenshots and reupload them to the wiki, just not right now, tomorrow, if everything works out on my end. DubstepDude1 (talk) 18:47, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
No, please don't re-upload any of my screenshots yet. I want to fix them myself, I just need to know what the standard process is. If you don't use GIMP, then what program do you use to alter them?
Plus, I want to upload screenshots in the future, and I don't want to have to send them to a middleman for every upload. I just need to know how to do it myself so there are no issues for the wiki. HylianAngel (talk) 19:03, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
I think I found a fix thanks to Kocka's very kind help, and information about exiftool. But I need to wait for Kocka's response if it's the correct fix or not. But yeah, ImageMagick keeps stripping the sRGB metadata, which I had no idea was a thing. It doesn't even matter if it's renaming the image without changing anything else, it will always do this by default.
I really appreciate the information on this so that I can fix my past uploads and keep this in mind for any future uploads. It's unfortunate because I've uploaded like a few hundred images, so I feel a little bad since fixing them means there will be upload-spam. But I think I can mass-fix all of them (hopefully). If the mass-fix doesn't work, I can also save each one individually in GIMP, but that would suck... HylianAngel (talk) 03:45, 24 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
I could be totally mistaken, given my previous error, but I think that the new image (left) might be too light. My image was definitely wrong for sure (right). But I'm looking at the datamined colors of the objects (bottom), and I think that we still need to upload a more appropriately-colored screenshot. I used a highlight tool to highlight Kris's colors, some of the floor, and the Pipis, to showcase which colors match.
https://i.imgur.com/90BArYk.png
The reason why my original upload looked bad and terrible was because it contained too much metadata, mainly the gamma metadata was making it contrasty. But the new upload is also too light (again unless I'm wrong). Would it be okay for me to upload over it? With the characters removed and the metadata fixed. Again my bad if I made another mistake, I would be interested in your input. HylianAngel (talk) 10:31, 24 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
How does File:Field location Donation Hole.png look now? Does it look okay on your end? I wanted to double-check before mass-replacing everything. HylianAngel (talk) 10:37, 24 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi, I checked this screenshot and I don't find any other problems. DubstepDude1 (talk) 13:09, 24 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
That's great news. Also I guess I'm not replacing everything after all after a discussion with Kocka. But, I'll keep stripping the metadata for future uploads to avoid this problem happening again. HylianAngel (talk) 17:25, 24 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
I checked some of the GIFs, and everything looks fine. DubstepDude1 (talk) 17:43, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
I do create the GIFs in GIMP, so it would make sense there are no issues there. But my screenshots are resized via ImageMagick. I'd like to fix the screenshot issue, but I hope there is a way to do that via ImageMagick rather than GIMP being the only option.
If GIMP is the only option, what are the correct choices, because there are various choices for a .png compared to the GIF's (interlacing, save background color, save gamma, save layer offset, save resolution, save creation time, save comment, save color values from transparent pixels, automatic pixelformat, compression level, save Exif data, save XMP data, save IPTC data, save thumbnail, save color profile), and I want to make sure future uploads have no issues. HylianAngel (talk) 18:15, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hey just curious, but have you tried removing the true_config.ini file to have the window be at 640 x 480? — Link [ T | C ] 19:40, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
I need to check at my computer to be doubly sure, but this method doesn't work for Chapter 3 and 4 if your computer display monitor is too big, it instead displays at a slightly higher setting (I think it was 1280x960 when I tried this).
Also, this shouldn't matter, because upscaling and downscaling pixel art will always be equivalent in the display output. This is a forced step in the process for uploading datamined sprites because almost all of them need to be upscaled. This metadata stuff is surprising news to me though. If Kocka, DubstepDude, WitheredFreddy, and F-sharp, etc.'s screenshots have acceptable metadata, I just need to know what their process is. I've seen Kocka upload larger screenshots then having to downscale them later after the mistake in some file histories. HylianAngel (talk) 21:03, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Why did you make new versions of all the unused attack images?

So I saw that you made different version of the unused attack images, but why, the older ones work fine and new ones look worse due to most of them being recorded using the bullet test room meaning that lot of have Rudinn in them instead of the intended enemy as well as some attacks ending early, like Diagonal Bullets and Cresent Slash, and for Aqua Ring 3 and Centipedes Intro being the wrong attack. (By the way not trying to hate on you I just want to know why you made new versions of them.) MMK-001 (talk) 20:54, 10 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Your GIFs are good, but the colors flicker. I would suggest using gifski to avoid such issues in the future. As for some attacks "ending early," there’s nothing wrong with them, I just trimmed the GIFs at the moment when the attack suddenly disappears inside the box. Regarding the Rudinns, I don’t see anything wrong with that either, the section is literally called the "character name," so it’s unlikely anyone would get confused, if that’s what you mean. DubstepDude1 (talk) 21:11, 10 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
It’s not that anyone will get confused by the Rudinns it’s just that it looks weird. Also for Diagonal Bullets specifically there’s a section towards the end of the attack where a lot of walls not spaced together appear that move fast, which isn’t in your version of the gif, see the original version if you need context. Also this is a minor issue, but the backgrounds in the Knight and Titan fight aren’t there in your versions it’s minor so it doesn’t matter too much, but it’s still worth pointing out.
Also THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TELLING ME ABOUT GIFSKI, I was using the in-game debug mode recorder so that’s why the colors flicker and because I was using that Getting gifs for some of the unused Knight attacks was hell cause it goes frame by frame. MMK-001 (talk) 23:43, 10 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Could you send a GIF separately on Discord showing how you use gifski on enemy attack? I’d like to see how you solved this issue so I don’t worry about possible unexpected problems. By the way, I don’t use just gifski, I use ScreenToGif, and you need to install the gifski codec there to be able to use gifski. Usually, it doesn’t have issues with colors.
As for the attack needing to continue, okay, I’ll fix that. DubstepDude1 (talk) 03:04, 11 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Where’s the code that sizes Deltarune’s window by 2x

So on my upload of one of the Titan’s unused attacks you said my Deltarune is to big and that I should delete a piece of code that sizes it to 2x but I don’t know where that is, I probably should have asked earlier but where is that code located. MMK-001 (talk) 22:40, 21 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Never mind, found it, still though thanks for telling me about that code MMK-001 (talk) 22:46, 21 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
