Talk:Leitmotifs
The bassline of Card King and Checker Dance are quite similar, but I'm not sure if they're similar enough to be called a leitmotif. Wikiamanisverycool (talk) 00:19, August 6, 2020 (UTC)
"Digital Roots" from Chapter 2 uses the same notes as "Your best Nightmare" (both at the start) not sure if this counts as a leitmotif tho. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.75.213.19 (talk • contribs) (please sign your comments using ~~~~)
Anyone else notice the Hopes leitmotif in A Cyber's World? I think it's pretty significant but I'm not adding it unless other people noticed it too.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Andrew Woden (talk • contribs) (please sign your comments using ~~~~)

The motif associated with "Ghost Fight" in BIG SHOT is the motif exclusive to "Dummy!". Perhaps the mention of "Ghost Fight" should be deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by EpicSansDDT (talk • contribs) (please sign your comments using ~~~~)
- Yeah, probably. -- Cube-shaped garbage can 23:04, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
Jevil and Spamton so far have an interesting relationship. The first part of the World Revolving leitmotif plays in BIG SHOT, the second in Dialtone. Both parts play in The Circus. The biggest connection between Jevil and Spamton - the biggest common theme, in my eyes - is freedom. The air crackles with freedom and all that.
I think the second part of the World Revolving leitmotif, the one that plays in Dialtone, might be Jevil's, and the first part , which plays in BIG SHOT, is the Freedom leitmotif. They seem to be two separate ones to me - leitmotifs don't often get chopped up afaik. 45.144.113.211 06:51, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
I tried to add these but they were reverted (makes sense because I didn't add timestamps)
- A CYBER'S WORLD and WELCOME TO THE CITY contain a part from Sweet Cap'n Cakes motif, illustrated here
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/b7278c06-ac53-4ce6-a8de-9e43eed02c82
- Additionally, an up-up-down-down four-note pattern that sounds like Gaster's unused theme appears in Scarlet Forest, the beginning of Queen's theme, HEY EVERY !, THE WORLD REVOLVING, and various other tracks
- The four note pattern at the beginning of HEY EVERY ! and A Real Boy! is the same one as used in the bassline of the thing in NOW'S YOUR CHANCE TO BE A and BIG SHOT, illustrated here

- I can hear the similarity between Sweet Cap'n Cakes and the other two, and I readded it to the article.
- Gaster's Theme is a really simple melody and people have historically been finding many tracks that sound "just like it", even though it doesn't make any sense. Just because there is an up-up-down-down four-note pattern does not mean Toby is referencing Gaster's Theme.
- Similarly to that, I don't think the four note pattern in the bassline of BIG SHOT is noteworthy. -- Cube-shaped garbage can 21:18, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
Is it just me or does the first half of Darkness Falls sound a heck of a lot like Gaster's Theme? The first three notes are definitely the exact same intervals, and it's got the same half-step difference between the phrases... Even the overall shape of it has a similar sort of waviness to it! (OK that last bit's kind of a stretch but, still, it's the same, right?) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.131.234.45 (talk • contribs) (please sign your comments using ~~~~)
- it's easily the 3rd most definite example in the soundtrack! and shows up in the background of the second half too. plus, like Another Him, its files are in caps & all that stuff associated with the Voice who is definitely gaster Lentilswede (talk) 10:20, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
I hate to do this but we should probably have at least a leitmotif section on Gaster's theme. imo "this is widely speculated to be in a whole lot of tracks but because it's just a 4-note section this gets controversial and speculative fast" is not too subjective to put on the wiki, but i know the standaerds are strict here about being Absolutely Canon. however it's unambiguously present in at least ANOTHER HIM, flashback_excerpt (the Snowgrave hospital scene bgm), and Darkness Falls.16:17, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- On the topic of hidden, non-OST tracks that are still used in the game, I think it makes sense to create a section for those on the UNused Tracks page. Lentilswede (talk) 16:17, 23 June 2022 (UTC) (edit: have done so on its own page)
Isn't this literally just a waltz? User:Tweer (talk) 07:23, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
I believe this is just a variant of the Spamton leitmotif, not YBN. User:Tweer (talk) 07:23, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
- Ok, someone deleted my edit, so here's my reasoning.
- Here's what I hear in "Digital Roots":
- The sustain/reverb makes it kind of hard to hear some of the notes, but it sounds like 5 notes instead of 3.
- This matches this part of the spamton leitmotif:

I don't hear it, is it actually related? DefaultuserQ (talk) 06:22, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
- Also, "The Door and The World Revolving, Although similar, are not the same melody DefaultuserQ (talk) 06:26, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
- Removed these now. -- Cube-shaped garbage can 12:47, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

The audio file for Spamton's motif is wrong iirc, the third note is just the result of a delay, and isn't an actual note. ~2025-865044 (unregistered) (talk) 00:52, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

Unresolved why is the motif in flower foyer anmd violent tactics called the 'violent tactics' motif? flower foyer appears first ingame, it's just that violent tactics appears first in the soundtrack, but i think it's more appropriate to call it the flower foyer motif due to the ingame order ~2026-747734 (unregistered) (talk) 23:12, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
It’s directly mentioned in-game and has a song we know has it, but it’s not actually used anywhere else and we have no idea what part of the song is the motif. I’m for it being listed for completeness, but with this type of thing it’s hard to tell. ~2026-652981 (unregistered) (talk) 23:27, 28 June 2026 (UTC)

- We discussed this one about a year ago and came to the conclusion it doesn't seem to be there. Those are six notes, and two of those six don't match. There is also seemingly no lore reason for it to appear. KockaAdmiralac (talk) 15:32, 30 June 2026 (UTC)
