Chapter 2

From Deltarune Wiki
(Redirected from Chapter 2: A Cyber's World)

Deltarune Chapter 2, subtitled A Cyber's World (JP: サイバーワールド), is the second Chapter of Deltarune. It was released for PC and Mac on September 17, 2021, and for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on September 23, 2021. It was released for Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 alongside Chapters 3 and 4 on June 5, 2025.

It is distributed alongside Chapter 1 as the free Deltarune Chapter 1&2 demo.

This Chapter is primarily set in the Cyber World, a Dark World created in the library's computer lab. Its antagonist is Queen, and its Shadow Crystal boss is Spamton NEO. This Chapter also introduces the Weird Route, where the player forces Noelle to freeze enemies in order to make her stronger.

Synopsis

The Chapter opens with Toriel calling out to Kris, as she discovers a knife and acts shocked. Shortly after, Toriel enters their room, revealing that she realized Kris ate the entire pie she had baked yesterday.

Kris arrives late to school and meets up with Susie, who declares her desire to return to the closet Dark World. As they approach the closet door, Noelle arrives and invites the two to study with her and Berdly at the library. After she leaves, Kris and Susie enter the supply closet and arrive in Castle Town. However, they find it is as empty as when they first visited, with only Ralsei greeting them.

Per Ralsei's instruction, Kris collects all of the objects from the unused classroom and brings them to the closet. This populates Castle Town with the denizens of Card Kingdom, with many of the new residents setting up shops. Eventually, Susie mentions that the pair have homework to do, prompting Ralsei to banish them from the Dark World until they start their homework. Before the two leave, Lancer and Rouxls Kaard enter Kris's inventory.

Kris and Susie go to the library to work on their project and discover a Dark World inside the computer lab. Upon entering, they meet Queen, the ruler of the Cyber World, who holds Noelle captive for her plans for world domination. When Werewires block the path, Ralsei arrives and casts Pacify, then regroups with Kris and Susie. The party fights against Queen's minions and later confronts Berdly, who had voluntarily joined forces with Queen.

After a poor landing near Cyber City, Susie gets healed by Ralsei, and she becomes interested in healing magic. In her excitement, she takes off with Ralsei at a forked road, forcing Kris to explore on their own. While exploring the city, Kris reunites with Noelle, who had escaped capture. In Kris's company, Noelle learns to be less fearful. In Ralsei's company, Susie learns to cast UltimatHeal, a weak healing spell. Eventually, the party reunites, but they and Berdly are captured by Queen as they approach her mansion.

The party is imprisoned within the mansion, but they manage to escape with Lancer's help. Kris, Susie, Ralsei, and Berdly unite to rescue Noelle. While navigating the mansion, Berdly learns to be less arrogant after failing to solve multiple puzzles. The party ultimately confronts Queen on the mansion's rooftop, where they fight her and Berdly, who she has caught and enslaved with a control wire.

After fighting Queen, she explains the origin of the Cyber World: it was created by the Roaring Knight, who has since taken its leave. In the Knight's absence, Queen plans to force Noelle to expand the Cyber World by making a Dark Fountain. She then deploys her mecha, GIGA Queen, to attack the party.

After defeating GIGA Queen, Queen encourages Noelle to make a Dark Fountain from her own will before shutting down. With everyone in agreement, Berdly attempts to make a Fountain, but is stopped by Ralsei, who explains that an excess of Dark Fountains would result in an apocalyptic event known as the Roaring. Learning this prompts Queen to abandon her plans.

Kris seals the library Fountain, and the Lightners all return to the Light World, waking up inside the computer lab. Berdly, Noelle, and Susie leave the computer lab, while Kris transports its various items to the school's supply closet, allowing the Cyber World's recruited Darkners, including Queen, to populate Castle Town.

Kris and Susie return to the Dreemurr residence, whereupon Toriel invites Susie to spend the night. As Kris goes to the bathroom, they rip out their SOUL and escape through the window, returning shortly afterward to place it back in their body. Later in the night, Toriel calls the police while Kris and Susie are sleeping after discovering her van's tires had been slashed. When Toriel falls asleep herself waiting for the police to arrive, Kris wakes up and, with their knife, creates a Dark Fountain that envelops the entire room in a thick black mist. The Chapter ends as a smile forms across the TV screen.

Weird Route

If the player uses Noelle to freeze Cyber City's Darkners and forces her to solve puzzles by herself with ice magic, an alternate route will be initiated. Following Kris and Noelle's deal with Spamton to acquire a powerful ThornRing, she is forced to freeze Berdly solid with the SnowGrave spell after he confronts the duo. She then leaves Kris and travels to Queen's Mansion by herself.

As Queen explains the nature of the Cyber World, she mentions that she failed to find Berdly and that Noelle is too exhausted to participate in her plans, leaving only Kris and Susie to carry out her will. Queen deploys her mecha, but quickly withdraws it when Ralsei explains the Roaring before a battle can be initiated. Kris is left to seal the library Fountain alone and is ambushed by Spamton NEO before they can do so. The subsequent battle ends in a stalemate; when Kris is unable to get Susie and Ralsei to arrive, Noelle responds to the player's call for help and defeats Spamton.

When the group wakes up in the Light World, Berdly does not. Noelle, Susie, and Kris leave Berdly alone in the computer lab. Later, Noelle questions whether the Dark World really was a dream, and whether Kris is a different person than they used to be.

At the end of the Chapter, Kris makes a Dark Fountain in their house.

Deltarune Chapter 1&2 Demo

Trivia

  • The second installment of the in-universe book series Lord of the Hammer is summarized by the Hammer of Justice as "Chapter 2 The City of the Shining. The heroes do battle in chariots to save the Queen." This parallels the events of Chapter 2; the party traverses Cyber City,[8] fights Berdly while riding on roller coasters and recruits Queen.
  • The events of Chapter 2 likely take place on a Friday, based on dialogue from the Forgotten Man[9] and the fact that it's the last school day.[10]
  • Chapter 2 is currently the only Chapter where the player can SAVE after defeating the final boss.
