Chapter 6

Deltarune Chapter 6, subtitle unknown, is the upcoming sixth and penultimate Chapter of Deltarune, set to release as a free update to the full game. The development team have stated an intent for the Chapter to be released in 2027, although no specific date has been given yet.

Release

Chapter 6 will be immediately available to all existing owners of the paid version of Deltarune as a free update upon its release. It will also be available by default in all copies of the game bought after its release. Upon Chapter 5's release, the Steam page announced a 2027 projected release window.

Story teasers

• During the fight with the Hammer of Justice in Chapter 4, he recounts that Lord of the Hammer's sixth installment was the last one written, as "The story, it became so grand, so overwhelming" that "it swallowed up the author himself." It is likely that this is meant to parallel the events of Chapter 6.
• Susie plans to invite Noelle to visit Castle Town and inform her of the stakes involved, per the ending of Chapter 5.
  • Currently unused graphics of various Castle Town buildings decorated to be Christmas-themed exist, which may be used in this Chapter. There is also a flower_house sprite that may be used for a Castle Town building housing Flower Kingdom Darkners.
• In conjunction with Noelle's presence, several elements seem to suggest that this Chapter could have a general snow and winter theme:
  • In the third round of the Thank you survey, the response to "The Place Where it Snowed" was "You know that isn't until later".
  • A cut prophecy from Chapter 4 mentions "coldwater falling from the sky". This prophecy is also directly referenced in the 2025 Winter Newsletter.
    • In the second round of the Thank you survey, the response to "When the cold water falls from the sky" was "You're getting ahead of yourself." The only other verified answer that received this response was "She never smiled again"; she being implied to refer to Noelle.
  • Dragon Blazers III, a fictional video-game loosely based on Lord of the Hammer and the Prophecy, contains an area called the "Ice Palace".
• The Weird Route will likely skip over Chapter 6, as evidenced by the ending screen of Chapter 5's Weird Route.
• Chapter 6's plot is implied to be darker than Chapter 5's, as Toby Fox described the latter as "one more fun adventure" before the sun "goes down completely". In the full description, the sun is used as a metaphor for the opposite of "dark clouds on the horizon" in Chapter 4.
• Seam may use five Shadow Crystals for something "very, very, interesting" which could possibly relate to obtaining the PureCrystal.
  • This may also make the TwistedSwd available if the ThornRing was acquired from an aborted Chapter 2 Weird Route.
• This Chapter is implied to not have certain recurring features that all appeared in each of the first five Chapters:
  • Chapter 6 may lack a Shadow Crystal boss and Egg.
  • The Chapter might also lack an appearance from the original Starwalker, due to his "final Starwalker" transformation and dialogue in Chapter 5.
  • When eating Chapter 5's moss after gaining the previous moss title, Kris's title changes to "Last Moss - A moss liker's final form", indicating there may be no moss to be consumed this Chapter.
• The vendor track Shop 3, which currently only plays for Pink's shop, is implied to play once again in this Chapter and/or Chapter 7, as Toby Fox described the song as being used for "most of the remaining shopkeepers in the game", in the Winter 2025 Newsletter.
• Synthesis, Amphitheater, and to a slightly lesser extent Roots and Flashback, are implied to be titles for Chapter 6 or 7 music tracks; all four are words that can appear in Bibliox ACTs, the rest are song titles. Roots and Flashback possibly refer to BIT ROOTS/Digital Roots and Flashback, though upcoming songs with those exact titles are plausible. Amphitheater is also the name of a 2012 Toby Fox song posted alongside early Man tracks.
• A non-piano version of kris_piano_last_prophecy is likely to play in this Chapter or Chapter 7; all other Chapter 4 piano songs, with the exception of the generic kris_piano_sevenfour, align with in-game tracks. The context may be related to the final panel of the Prophecy.

Most of the development team had begun working on Chapter 6 as of March 17, 2026.

In the DELTARUNE Chapter 5 Release Date Announcement newsletter, released on June 9, 2026, Toby Fox announced that:

• Cutscenes and NPC interactions are "making good progress".
• Overworld gameplay is mostly done aside from some rooms using the new gimmicks.
• Normal enemies and their bullet patterns are mostly complete.
• The final fight's bullet patterns are still being worked on.

Toby has stated that development is progressing smoothly as Chapter 6 is "easier to make than the others" and that therefore it is "not unrealistic" that some of the development team will start working on Chapter 7 before the end of 2026.

Trivia

• When Toby Fox read the plot outline to the development team, Gigi D.G. was mostly quiet but yelled "YEAAAH" at a moment in Chapter 6 or 7.
