I just saw what you said in the on your latest Leitmotifs edit. I hope you continue to get well soon! It's never fun being ill, especially for a long time. — Link [ T | C ] 19:42, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you so much!! You're so kind! I've definitely been feeling a ton better today already. Muddy0258 (talk) 19:51, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- You're welcome! I'm happy to know you're feeling much better. Also, thanks a lot for uploading all of those music sheets! — Link [ T | C ] 20:38, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- Haha, of course! I love doing it, and it gives me something to work on while we wait for Chapters 3 and 4 to drop. Muddy0258 (talk) 21:12, 15 May 2025 (UTC)

- That's relatable, I'm glad you're enjoying it, you're doing a great job! Also, that reminds me! Have you seen Kocka's post regarding the OST split? I figured it might be a topic that may be of interest to you as well, since we're trying to see if the Deltarune OSTs should be split. It would also help me know if I could try and prep some screenshots for the pages too! — Link [ T | C ] 21:06, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
- Oh cool! I hadn’t yet, thanks for telling me about it! Muddy0258 (talk) 23:50, 17 May 2025 (UTC)

Hey there! Wanted to reach out to you who made the edit to Black Knife's page claiming the second part of it is F minor and not B♭/A♯ minor, I didn't really understand if you were right about it because I used FL Studio to test out the key by pitching it down/up every 100 cents and sure enough to me it sounds like it's in B♭/A♯ minor at default pitch. OrLavi (talk) 03:39, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for reaching out! So yeah, it’s a little tricky since the bass note at the start of that section (1:18) is B♭, but the melody really strongly suggests F minor as the tonic rather than B♭.
- For the first four measures of that section, here are the scale degrees when analyzed in F versus in B♭:
- F minor: 5 - - 1 | 6 5 3 1 | 4 - 1 - | -(1765673) |
- B♭ minor: 2 - - 5 | 3 2 7 5 | 1 - 5 - | -(5432347) |
- The 5-1 and then then 5-3-1 arpeggio really make the melody sound much more like it’s in F minor rather than in B♭, as those first two measures emphasize the tonic harmony (scale degree 1) rather than the minor dominant harmony (scale degree 5).
- Also, the arpeggiated figures in the background fill out the harmony so that first chord right at 1:19 is really closer to Fm7/B♭ rather than B♭m11 or something like that. Muddy0258 (talk) 03:59, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
Hello! So, i'm relearning how to play the piano, and decided to try playing some of the deltarune motifs, using the notations present in the wiki. While doing that, i noticed that the 6th note on the HEY EVERY ! partiture might be missing the ♭ symbol? I don't really know how to fix it so I'm letting you know! IzisStardust (talk) 21:23, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hey! Thanks for the message! So the flat on the sixth note is implied because it’s in the key signature (the two ♭ symbols that appear on the left side of the picture). These mean that every note that’s either a B (middle line) or E (top space) is instead a B♭ or an E♭. These signs apply to any B and E, not just the ones specifically in those locations. The sixth note you’re mentioning is an E♭ because of the key signature.
- Hopefully that explanation made enough sense; let me know if you have any more questions. Muddy0258 (talk) 03:04, 14 July 2025 (UTC)
- Oh that actually makes a lot of sense! I was trying to search what key signatures were without knowing it's name, so this helped me answer lots of questions. Thanks! IzisStardust (talk) 12:42, 14 July 2025 (UTC)
Hi there, I reached out to you because someone on the wiki discord told me that you are usually the one doing key signatures for the deltarune OST. I'm unsure which key Castle Funk (seems like either E major or C# Minor) is in and would like some advice. Thanks! 1092384a5 (talk) 06:40, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hey friend! Yeah, I never got back around to checking/updating the info boxes on all the Chapter 4 tracks; I’ve been meaning to do that for a while but life got crazy this summer.
- There’s definitely some room for argument either way here. I would ultimately say E major because of how the melody is treated throughout, especially around 1:01, where the chord progression drops C♯ minor altogether for a couple bars (going from A-A-C♯m-E to A-A-E-E).
- Would not be opposed at all to hearing arguments for the other side, but if you want to put the whole piece in one key, I think E major wins out ever so slightly.
- Thanks for reaching out! Muddy0258 (talk) 14:54, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- The argument for C# minor mostly originated from the track's usage of the legend motif at the start; in the beginning of that motif there is an arpeggio going upwards which in all of the other tracks is in the same key as the track itself (like Empty Town is in A minor so that arpeggio goes A-C-E, same with My Castle Town and The Legend). Combining this with the fact that the fact that there's a C# minor chord in the chord progression made me initially consider C# minor as a candidate for the key of the track. However it's also important to note that for the other tracks where the arpeggio at the start is in the same key as the track, the current chord during the arpeggio is the tonic of the key while in Castle Funk it's the submediant (if we assume C# minor).
- I think you're right; E major seems to be what the chord progression is resolving to (and the melody is more in-line with E major). 1092384a5 (talk) 15:27, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- True, C♯ minor totally makes sense under that consideration. And both i and VI can have tonic function in minor in the right circumstances, so I totally see that argument! It’s a really strong case that the melody suggests C♯ minor.
- To that point, though, I will raise the small appearance of the Legend leitmotif in Old wooden rafters, which is pretty clearly restated in A major. Additionally, the short bit of the Don’t Forget melody in E major would suggest E major as the key, using the exact same logic you’re proposing with the Legend melody being in C♯ minor. So there’s good arguments for both sides!
- Ultimately, it’s rather vague what the key center is, and Toby in particular has a really ambiguous harmonic language. Take a similarly tonally ambiguous track, Field of Hopes and Dreams. When the Don’t Forget melody comes in, it’s pretty clearly in B♭ major even though the harmony only once actually passes through a B♭ major triad. Instead, the analysis is only supported harmonically by a half cadence and a deceptive cadence in B♭. But the melody so strongly suggests B♭ major that it’s rather well-agreed-upon to be in B♭, not in G minor. Hopes and Dreams from Undertale does almost the exact same thing: the melody is clearly in B♭ minor but the bass line for most of the track is C-D-E♭-F-G, which is more ambiguous. - Wait did you mean B-flat Major when referring to Hopes and Dreams from Undertale? 1092384a5 (talk) 16:49, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, I’m sorry, I definitely meant to say major, not minor! Muddy0258 (talk) 17:44, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
