I'm a Computer Science student from Ohio, and I just love getting into the weeds of Undertale and Deltarune's lore and code!

Top Chef's name?

Hey there! I've been looking everywhere trying to find a source on why TOPCHEF's page is located at "Top Chef." I noticed you moved the page to "Top Chef" back in 2021, and then shortly after, Wolfram Rufus added trivia that "Subsequent mentions of his name are spelled with a spacing." However, I've looked at the text dump, and I can't find any instances of him being called "TOP CHEF" or "Top Chef" in the text. Would this happen to be somewhere in the game, or maybe outside of the game? I think it would be good to add this as a citation so people can know why it's official. Thank you for your time! I don't exactly remember this, but looking at the history myself, apparently it was previously called "TopChef" to avoid being needlessly capslock (the game does use capslock for emphasis on things that aren't really named in capslock) and I helped move that to Top Chef because we generally split words like that (more often with items). I think you're right that his name is only mentioned once in game, and it's in capslock which of course means we have to either insist on it being capslock or admit it's ambiguous between Topchef and TopChef... and no, I don't know of any other references to him in the Spamton Sweepstakes or the game code or anything that could clarify.
I don't have a strong opinion myself on which casing to use, but that trivia should go. Jacky720 (t|c) 04:30, 27 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
I see, thank you for the info! You're right about the capslocks thing, it's especially inconsistent with items and locations. It was definitely made intentionally annoying for items, for the retro feel.
I totally understand splitting his name like his actual cake names were, although personally think it might be better to match the game and do "TOPCHEF" since it's a character name, which is in a very different vein compared to items. It would be better to avoid making an assumption and mislead people into thinking it's the "canon" name. It also misled me. HylianAngel (talk) 04:49, 27 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
